Zelda's 25th Anniversary!

Me and a mate were chatting at work about all the stuff we're excited for at E3 and both of us were most looking forward to seeing how Nintendo mark the 25th anniversary of Zelda. We both reckon it's a dead cert a gold Wii and DS will come out, following the red limited editions for Mario's 25th. But then we got thinking about what our ultimate dream announcement would be.

She said her dream game would be either a Lego Zelda, shrinking all of Link's adventures into one blocky package (I told her 3D Dot Game Heroes had already got there first), or a new Four Swords Adventures for Wii/DS or a Zelda feature film (she wants Orlando Bloom to play Link...?). I said I'd always wanted Nintendo to invite select developers to create their own specialised take on the Zelda world, and then have them all released in one 'Chronicles of Hyrule' bundle (or on the eShop). So, for instance, invite the Harvest Moon team to put together a farming sim set on Lon Lon Ranch, or a Devil May Cry style game featuring a Gerudo Princess.

So, throwing that question out to you all: If you had your wish, what game/film/figurine/whatever would you like Nintendo to announce to celebrate 25 years of Zelda?

Lego Zelda is an interesting idea. I think I'd like to see that though obviously it would never happen.

I've posted this in another thread but I'd love to see a treasure chest collector's box containing a poster/tapestry of the Zelda timeline. A book containing the stories in order - written in a folk-legend style like the opening of wind waker. A collection of various games maybe. A Link figurine.

I would pass out if we got anything similar to that.

Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask remakes and an all new Zelda game in the vain of these two to follow.

And/ or

Zelda Kong Racing where you adventure through Hyrule in your kart/ boat/ train/ plane/ steed/ dual wielded hookshots, participate in races, collect rupees, terrorize cuccos and confront kerrraaazzy bosses. Unlockable Ooccoo is the ultimate character.

And/ or

Beyond Link & Evil, a photography sim expanding on the elaborate side quest in Wind Waker, set in the parallel universe of Hillys. :indeed:

And/ or

Zelda Forever. Link dons his sunglasses, flexes his muscles and heads out to kick ass and chew bubble gum... and he's all out of gum. Wacky Zelda comedy is shamelessly merged with pop culture references, perform finishing moves on bosses such as ripping off Dodongo's head and emptying your bowels down his neck and visit Lon Lon Ranch, the red light district, where you can tell Malon to "shake it baby." COME GET SOME.

Yeah, I've stated it several times over the years, the original Zelda's remade using the original Wind Waker engine... as I feel it has a very '3D NES graphics' feel to it.

However... I doubt there's much of a story to tell in Zelda I that we haven't already heard... but Zelda II could work better... but would still love both.

Or ALTTP/Gameboy Games remade like this.

I haven't played Four Swords Adventure, so an updated re-release or sequel (including the original) for Wii/3DS would be great!

haha, Zelda Kong Racing!... Sure! :p

Hope the soundtrack gets released over here, though I'd probably import it if it doesn't.

Can't wait to pay Four Swords again. Looks like we're getting Link's Awakening tomorrow though.

Not a big Zelda fan, so don't really care, but I would have thought Nintendo would have made more of an effort with this. Two retail games we've already known about for ages, and two downloadable ports, hardly anything to get excited about, even if one of the downloads is free. Music CDs and concerts are OK, but there really should have been some sort of boxed collection, a best of Zelda for the Wii. Stick the first Zelda, Link to the past, Majoras Mask, and maybe Wind Waker, on a disk, chuck in the music DSs too. That would cover things pretty well, and not step on the toes of OoT 3D, or the Links awakening and 4 swords downloads.

That's what I would have done anyway.

With retro on this, a 3D remake of the top down games. A 3D remake of LttP would be awesome, though in a ww engine it might not be so great unless they made it at least a little bit grittier/not cartoony.

i'm sincerely glad you had nothing to do with it.

You don't think those are good games for a collection then, that would compliment what Nintendo has announced? I always thought LttP and MM were big fan favourites, and that WW would be nice if nothing else for its art style.

we've already had a zelda collectors set (minus LttP). why would they lazily re-release it less than 10 years later?

i'd much prefer a free new game, another new game, a 3D remake of game, performances around the world AND a soundtrack.

Well, they are, and it would be cool but the boxed collection has already been done, for instance the Collector's Edition and it was what they did for Mario. I think this is a better solution. Providing a "new" game for each existing console is a good idea, and if the concerts are held in more than a couple of countries here in Europe it would really be great. It might not be a Limited Edition with some cool stuff in but it's something more, you know.

Yes, but with my option you get all that, plus a box set with a Zelda game from each previous home console.

I don't know, I thought it sounded good anyway.
