I've just seen this over at neogaf. Awesome news!

When we released The House of the Dead: OVERKILL for Wii, one of the most common things we heard is the wish that it be on a next gen console. Your wishes have been heard and answered! That mutant massacring B-Movie blood fest, The House of the Dead: OVERKILL, is coming to the Playstation 3 with some great extras! The House of the Dead: OVERKILL Extended Cut is presented for the first time in spectacular high definition with 3D support and Playstation Move compatibility on the Playstation3. This gruesome shooter puts you in the middle of a mutant outbreak in Bayou County. The extended cut has all seven stages of the original re-mastered, and two brand new scenarios added, so the baddest just got bigger!

^ Seriously?

I mean yes it looks more detailed, but I was just gonna say it seems to have lost charm in the process. Looks odd IMO.

But hey, everyone buy the game, it's great fun.

Bloody hell them graphics look LOADS better than the Wii version...

Yeah agreed. I was gonna come in here and post that it was great news for those who don't own the wii version but I wouldn't buy it again...However this looks so good maybe if theres enough new content I will actually be tempted.

There is something a little odd which i can't put my finger on but i would say graphically it does look a lot better.

I have no plans to buy this since i already own it on the Wii but i may change my mind depending on how much new content the game has to offer and price.

Agreed, one of the best things about the game was it's low budget B Movie look, now it just looks too polished. Still, nice they're porting it over and more people will get a chance to experience the awesomeness of it, I just wish they'd do a sequel.

Really loved the Wii one. Will give this a rent. An extra two story scenarios is pretty ace.

B-movie doesn't define its looks. It's definitely less grindhouse but honestly, how much are you going to actually notice?

Honestly, both the Wii graphics and the HD graphics are good for a game like this. Not like the zombies (or the main characters, mind you) need to have detailed facial expressions. I see no difference in upgrading graphics like this.

As long as they keep the "celluloid" look and clipping, things are the same. Except the updated version seems to have more content, so that's awesome.

I'm with you on that one, Retro..

It is obviously a matter of personal taste but I actually like the look of the Wii game better. In fact, I've had this sort of issue with a lot of games on the PS3 and XBOX 360 in that, for me, there has been something about the graphics that just haven't appealed to me..

They may be a lot crisper and considerably more detailed but not necessarily better to look at. Maybe that is just me, though :heh:

When is this being released? My mentor/Kuju contact mentioned he was working on it months ago and I just assumed it was already known.

Fun game though :D

I think the 'oddness' of the images is they seem to look a bit washed out. IMO anyway.

I agree with what the majority have said, I prefer the look of the Wii version to this. Don't get me wrong, the graphics look awesome but it seems to have lost it's charm in a way of nostalgia of the old House of the Dead games and that genuine 70s cheesy B-Movie feel. Now it just looks like something from 2011 trying to achieve that 70s cheesy B-Movie feel.
