I'm a dual UK/US citizen I think. But I'm like a sliver american, so realistically I'm British. I actually thought I was (blood-wise) more English than I am Scottish but found out the other night I really am more Scottish than I though.

Now that I look closer...there really aren't that many countries on the same latitude as Finland! Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Alaska (US) and Northern Canada...wow! No wonder people get surprised by the winters in here!

 

Helsinki is the most northern capital in the world.

Well if you find it an interesting fact, there should a number of Icelandic descents there in the early 1900's there was a "large" (thousands of people) emigration and Winnipeg was the most popular place to go to.

Wtf? On a normal winter, the coldest days in here are about -25 to -30! Is it the volcanic activity or the island location, which keeps you guys so much warmer?

 

And the gulf stream I guess. Most, or quite a lot, of the Norwegian coast has milder winters than say Oslo, even though it's a lot farther south, but it's on the east side away from the ocean. Like Reykjavik, roughly on the same latitude where I live, it's only get as low as -10 here too.
