EEVILMURRAY Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I wasn't sure if this would go in the trades/bargain section since I'm not exactly offering anything. Plus this has more exposure. Tomorrow I'm planning on taking in some of my old cube games, and some Wii/360 games I know I'll never play again into town to sell/trade for new shizzle. The main places in Nottingham are Game and Gamestation, even though they're owned by the same corporation I once heard they varied in their trading in/buying prices. So based on the lovely peoples experiences here, which would you recommend?
jayseven Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Be sure to check out CEX as they tell you online what they'll give you for your money. I may have to do a similar thing soon myself.
EEVILMURRAY Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) Aaah the sex shop (as we called it in Leicester), it seems we have on in Notts. Time to check the prices. EDIT: Christ they're bad. Sadly I can't see Game/station doing any better. Edited February 11, 2011 by EEVILMURRAY
MadDog Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 ASDAs prices were surprisingly good, probably better than Cex. They only give store credit though.
Happenstance Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I think Gamestation at the moment have a promise up to beat any trade in price by £1
Cube Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 The last time I "shopped around" for trade-ins was when I traded in Prince of Persia (Cel) - it was fairly new and I had gotten it for £17.99 from Play. So I took it into GAME where they offered me £8. They had the offer where they would beat another quote by £1 to I took it into GameStation (which was next door) and they offered a whopping £17.20. So I got £18.20 from GAME. I don't know any store that gives you a decent amount of cash, so one important thing is which shop's credit is most useful to you? I just use Blockbuster now as it's the only one in walking distance.
The Peeps Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Gamestation have always beaten CEX's listings by a couple of pounds whenever I've traded games in.

I did this recently to buy WoW: Cataclysm, I traded in like 5 games and got over £25 for games gamestation wouldn't even give me a couple of quid each for. It was quite a surprise. They do suck for console trading though.
Aimless Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I've taken to using Amazon. You get to see exactly how much you'll get before sending anything off, postage is free and credit with them is far more versatile than being tied to a games shop. Amazon are pretty good at price matching deals, too, so the money in your account will ultimately go further.
EEVILMURRAY Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 Hopefully Game/station will offer me more than £2 for Lost Magic smong others. I've got them written down so I imagine I'll be flitting between the stores tomorrow.
jayseven Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Aimless! Thanks for reminding me! Amazon marketplace is a very sensible idea - provided you are ok with waiting :P trading in-store is quickest but rewards teh least, then ebay does better, then amazon, I'd say.

Aimless wasnt talking about Amazons marketplace, he was talking about their new trade in scheme which actually offers pretty good prices for games.
