Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

I agree to a degree. The Level 50 FAL-SS is a beast and I hate it.

Having said that, it's so much more about movement and positioning (not to mention teamwork) that, if you know what you're doing, your gun doesn't matter one bit. This is true to a degree with most games but the range of movement is so huge in the Uncharted 3 multiplayer (even more than 2) that it makes the question of gun balancing pretty moot.

The best players have the best movement and my K/D shot up loads when I got in the mind set.

Also, I've noticed loads of the high level and legacy players stick with the AK. Which is your starter gun. And you initial medal kickback, the RPG is arguably the best in the game. As for Boosters, I can't really remember when they come but Monkey Man is horrendously under appreciated. Like I said, movement is the number one priority and Monkey Man boosts that loads and that's a starter booster.

I think there's definitely a barrier to n00bs but it's not that large and it's definitely more about how you play and not what you're playing with. I think you've (not you personally, I had to do the same) just got to be a little smarter with how you play the game.

Very, very true! Movement is almost everything in this game.

And glad you mentioned Monkey Man, can't live without it when venturing outside hardcore.

But... it still doesn't excuse the differences in arsenal.

And hell, as long as there's a hardcore mode available, I'll keep playing it! Just sayin' what "bothers" me.

As soon as I got the M9 at lvl 16 I was sitting pretty. But I know Rez loves the AK. I don't really see any gun being better than another just that guns suit different styles better.

I did level up with the initial wave of people which is essential with any online you want to get into. I wouldn't be surprised if that was a big reason why I don't really see massive unbalancing.

And, like I said, I do only really play Team Objective which I love. And it probably matters a lot less there.

What loadout do you use?

Mine is;

M9

Kickback - Cluster Bomb

Booster 1 - Explosives Expert

Booster 2 - Explosives Buddy.

Those two boosters together are awesome. I'm like a walking Hammer.

M9 (but this will be replaced with Kal once I have it)

Kickback - Carpet Bomb (because I still don't have cluster, it'll be cluster once I have it)

Booster 1 - Endurance

Booster 2 - Monkey Man.

I pretty much just run around and blindfire+melee people, with a slight touch of roll and grenade.

But my loadout matters little, since I spend almost all my time in hardcore.

I didn't notice much initially, but since they told me I've seen them play a little and I notice the game's become exactly what ReZ hated about CoD. Remember, ReZ, when you said you were constantly dying and didn't have a chance and that's why you liked U2's Mp? Well, this one just became what you hated. You just didn't notice it because you're already good at it.

Well I will accept the compliment that I am good at this game (got a 26-3 this morning that I am about to film and upload, was very happy with it) but that is just not true. In MW you do die instantly. 9/10 situations if you realise you're being shot you're already dead. In Unch its 9/10 situations if you realise you're being shot you CAN evade it (skill permiting).

I see where you're coming from but as for different weapons I think they're equal but different. Kal is better at run and gun than the AK, but shit and difficult to control at long range. AK is amazing all round. M9 is good at short ish distance but meh at long or close. FLASASSSASAssFLAs is very specialised and mildly hard to control but leathal in the hands of a good player - all different play styles. 100% fair point on the weapons mods thing - but I don't mind at all about this kind of thing.

People who have poured their lives into a game deserve more options in my eyes.

It just looks so sparse and some areas of the map are hardly used. The objective positions are also shit. It could be awesome but it isn't. Would have been awesome if they'd skinned it to look more like the museum from the start of the game. As it is, it looks lifeless.

I like maps that have a real setting like chateau.

There are only 10 maps.

Well, the list says 14.

Airstrip - constantly playing it, bit tired of it, really.

Chateau - same as above, but I like it this one.

Yemen - Never played it.

Desert village - Awesome map, best in the game, personally, comes up frequently.

Dry Docks - Never played it.

London Underground - Never played it.

Syria - Played it once. Liked it, don't get the lack of love for it.

City of Brass - Cool map, overrated as hell, 4 in every 10 games are on this map!

Facility - Never played it.

Molten Ruins - Played it once, prefered it on Unch2.

Highrise - Comes up frequently.

Museum - Never played it.

Cave - Never played it.

Fort - Never played it.

So that's... 14, out of which I never played 7, and played 2 others only once.

Now, I'm level 22, and basically I've played the same 5 maps over and over, out of 14 maps.

I think that says something about the community.

Also, I'm very annoyed at the lack of a refined search option in this and ALL shooter games. I should be able to search for a game on the map I want...

My bad, there are 11 maps.

You must have some bizarre luck. Rez, flameboy, Cookie, Matt and I haven't had this problem. I reckon we've played them all pretty evenly with some being definite favorites.

And it's pretty stupid saying this says something about the community considering firstly, how large the community is (because, yeah, generalizations are stupid) and secondly, it seems to only effect you.

I'm shocked you've never played Yemen. It definitely seems like one of the more popular maps.

I'm surprised Highrise comes up frequently because I'd say it definitely isn't a popular one.

I guess it's just bad luck, then. I mean, even without those 3, it's very strange to reach level 22 (which amounts to at least 6-7 hours of MP) and not having played 4 maps out of 11, and having the same 5 over and over again.

When I said the community I mean because every time one of the ones I haven't played come up for vote, they get one single vote - mine. Everyone seems to be voting for the same 4 maps. It's like CoD.

Well, let's be honest, it is a somewhat fair generalization... all shooter communities mostly suck, almost everyone's an arrogant loudmouth asshole. The only exception is Team Fortress 2, really.

Well, not just for shooters, most gaming communities in general suck. There are exceptions of course (Smash bros community, Demon's Souls/Dark Souls community/Team Fortress 2 again) , but mostly, I think it applies.

Like most gaming forums suck. Which is why I stick around here, I like people here. :heh:

I think unbalanced is the very word, and this situation is the very thing it describes. When a game clearly favours part of it's player base, what else do you call it?

I still like it, mind! I just started noticing the flaws much more now.

Because I don't think it's quite trying to be so hardcore.... and as such what many regard as balanced doesn't apply as such. For example there are power weapons that spawn on each level that any one can use regardless of what level they are out. I think also that they are efforts to give points out in games for people who don't get the higher kill death ratios and that's why I like it. I think it has a good balance in the situations that anyone can take advantage of and how empowered you can feel at times even when losing if there is a shift of power.

It can't be my connection, i can play every other game fine.

If you stopped wasting all your bandwidth by playing so many other games online whilst on Uncharted you'd experience less lag.

Uncharted multiplater demands your full attention, I couldn't multi-task and still win all the time. Unless my opponent was Rez, in which case I would still triumph every time.
