The Amazing Spider-Man

Tobey Maguire's emo fringe and George Clooney's nipples are one and the same.

I hate the concept of Russian though... Like, smells so much of American irrational hatred of socialists.

but he has nothing to do with Socialism! Kraven is all about the old Russian nobility and Tsars- he's a stinking rich aristocrat.

He could have been from anywhere, really. He's Old Europe in a very Colonial mould- being Russian is very secondary to that and really is just an excuse to give him a quality name.

Spidey's New Villain

The Lizard isn't the only baddie the wallcrawler has to watch out for.

The Lizard won't be the only bad guy to give Spidey a hard time in Marc Webb's wallcrawler reboot.

Heat Vision is reporting that Irrfan Khan (Slumdog Millionaire) will be playing a villain named Van Atter in the soon-to-be-shooting Spider-Man film.

Rhys Ifans, of course, has already been cast as the Lizard.

Who the heck is Van Atter, you ask? Good question. We here at IGN know us some Spider-Man, but Van Atter doesn't ring a bell. Badass Digest thinks they might know who it is, however. Brace yourself.

"The Proto-Goblin was a character who appeared in one issue of a Spider-Man comic ever, a Flashback issue (a stunt when Marvel told 'untold tales' of characters)," explains Badass. The link being, apparently, that the character's real name was Nels van Adder. "The basic story is that he was an employee who was tested on by Norman Osborn before Osborn became the Goblin. George Stacey plays a role in that story; the reveal that Peter's parents were spies came from another Flashback issue. Could Webb's Spider-Man be pulling heavily from a couple of weird 1990s comic books?"

Badass mentions Peter's folks because they're also in the movie: Campbell Scott (Damages) and Julianne Nicholson (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) are in talks to play the doomed Parkers, who after their deaths leave the future Spidey to be raised by Aunt May and Uncle Ben. But still... Norman Osborn isn't in this new movie, right? Or is he...

Oh, and Annie Parisse (Rubicon) has also come onboard as "the villain's wife." Which villain? It's not clear.

So as of right now, we know even less about this film's story than we did a day ago.

Since the actor first dropped hints about getting a role in the upcoming reboot via Twitter, speculation has run rife regarding exactly who it'll be that's he's playing, with Flash Thompson being the fasvourite. Since a few eagle eyed CBMers spotted Zylka in the below set picture, there has been suggestions that he actually looks more like Harry Osborn! Well, not according to The Wrap.

Chris Zylka will play Flash Thompson, Peter Parker's high school nemesis in Marc Webb's "Spider-Man" reboot, an individual familiar with the project has confirmed to TheWrap.

As I'm sure you already know, Flash Thompson character is a football player who is well known for bullying "Puny Parker," but also happens to be a great admirer of Spider-Man. Keep an eye out for him alongside Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Rhys Ifans, Irrfan Khan, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Julianne Nicholson and Annie Parisse all star in the untitled Spider-Man reboot which hits in 3D on July 3, 2012!

Yeah, one of the best parts of the films was Jonah (and Betty/the rest of the Daily Bugle scenes). Geuinely amusing/funny.

But then again, I hate lack of clarity, so would rather they had a new one for this new film.

I wonder what they'll call this film.

Spider-Man Starts has more of a ring to it. :p

But yeah, I imagine it'll be The Amazing Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man etc.

I'm interested to see what the costume will be like actually! I never liked how the other film one had tiny eyes. I don't like tiny-eye Spidey unless it's done intentionally in the comics to see creepy/and it works well.

I prefer this kinda look:

It fits better with the character.
