Wesley Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I'm actually surprised how little difference this has made. 5 hours... Hum... Or 12? http://cpucount.zapto.org/ Although I am happy that this means it's tomorrow morning it's released. I'll coming into work extra-extra earlier to play it.
Daft Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Restless Portal 2 Fans begin to send REAL potatoes to Valve HQ My favourite thing ever.
Shorty Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 (edited) Just got my preparing for dispatch email from GAME Edit: and another email saying its despatched Edited April 18, 2011 by Shorty
Wesley Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I'm hoping that the time goes down by another couple of hours so I can play it before work tomorrow.
Shorty Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I will lol my face off if my 360 copy arrives tomorrow morning with me not having contributed anything to this crazy marketing scam scheme.
Daft Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Tbf, the tie ins were pretty awesome. Having GLaDOS slag you off while you fail at Audiosurf was pretty amusing.
Shorty Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Looks like you might be gettin' your Portal on pretty soon http://www.aperturescience.com/glados@home/
Daft Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 (edited) I'm not sure why but I thought you meant an actual real life portal. Now I'm sad. I wonder what it all means. (The GLaDOS thing) EDIT: Wow, didn't notice the potatoes were sky rocketing downward. Cool. Edited April 18, 2011 by Daft
Dyson Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I'm going to bed now. Portal 2 will be there for me when I wake up. Digital distribution is glorious
Wesley Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 It's fucking awesome! Never laughed so much while playing a game. Smerch is so awesome.
Daft Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Played it for an hour. So far, so bloody enjoyable. Going to pace myself a bit. (I wouldn't normally but I have essays to write. :\ )
Happenstance Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 PS3/360 Comparison: http://www.lensoftruth.com/head2head/head2head-portal-2-screenshot-comparison/ Thats a rediculous difference in quality. Almost makes you think Valve purposely made the 360 version crapper!
Happenstance Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 The roll over shots show it best and I think thats a much bigger difference than you would usually see in multiplatform games.
Daft Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I've always felt that comparisons between PS3/360 builds of games were too minute to really mater at all. The important difference are the features. Obviously 360 owners get boned this time.
Happenstance Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Oh yeah I agree, its just that this time the difference just seemed bigger than usual. Either way it doesnt matter as im getting the PS3 version.
Caris Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Wow, this is probably the first multiplatform title I've seen that has AA on the PS3 version and not on it's 360 counterpart.
LostOverThere Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I literally dropped my bowels, it's that good. Oh Valve.
Chuck Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 The comparison is a disappointing for 360. This looks terrible - http://www.lensoftruth.com/wp-content/gallery/h2hssc_portal2/xbox-360-rollover_03.jpg
Shorty Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 There's no way the 360 version looks like that. That looks like a 640x480 PC game from 1998. I'm not saying the PS3 version doesn't look better, there's no doubt that Valve have gone out of their way to make the PS3 version the must-have version, but those screenshots are poor representations.
Happenstance Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 There is no way I am getting Portal 2 now afer reading this: http://www.landoverbaptist.net/showthread.php?t=63326 Valve should be ashamed!
Shorty Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 (edited) So my 360 copy didn't arrive yet (not surprised) Is it bad that I'm really tempted to download the PC version and then return the 360 version when it arrives Edit: Just realised the 360 version has local co-op, so scrap that, I'll wait Edited April 19, 2011 by Shorty
Wesley Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 One thing I have to say though... I have noticed that there are a couple of jarring elements in the Source engine. The animation, of myself I caught in a Portal, were a bit... naff... And some water effects were just... bad. It doesn't ruin it or anything and I wish I didn't notice it. But I did. Annoying.
