Lost: The Final Season

Recommended Posts

Interesting idea.

My first thought was that it was what would happen if the plane never crashed, but that went out the window with Jack's son. There's certainly an element of wish fulfillment going on- Sawyer is a cop, Hugo is lucky, Jack has a son etc etc. It could well be they're rewards for helping smokey.

Interestingly, they're all faintly corrupted too. Jack is divorced, Sayid gets to see his woman but she's married to his brother, Sawyer is still messed up by the original Sawyer etc.

Also, whatever happened in Australia seems to remain the same. Locke's attempted trip to the outback, Jack's father drinking himself to death and Sawyer murdering the man he thought was Sawyer 1.

Like everyone, I thought last nights Richard centric episode was quality.

The speech The Smokey Man gave to Richard when sending him to Jacob was the same as what Dogen said to Sayid before sending him to Locke.

That was one of the best episodes in a long time.

So we now know how Richard got there and why he never ages. Only thing I didn't understand was when Jacob and smokey were chatting about the boat last series it was lovely clear blue skies. But in this episode they arrive in a big storm. In addition, a wooden ship taking out a stone statue? hmmmm

But still, quality episode with an insight as to what the island really is.

Haha good spot, wonder if that was just a massive 'oops' or what. They could always explain it with 'Yeah Jacob conjured up the storm so that they'd crash there' or something I guess.

Finally caught up with the episodes Ive missed being mac-less.

Not as thrilled as everyone else seems to have been by the Alpart episode.. mainly cause I found the Tenerife stuff abit meh, and it all made him seem like a bit of a loser as opposed to the ultimate badass that I assumed he was. Owell. Nice to get a crapload of awnsers anyhoo.

I too loved Ab Aeterno! More than anything it confirms that basically Jacob and the MiB really are just constantly fighing amongst themselves for dominance. Who is the real evil remains to be seen.... And yeh the only other "woops" I noticed was how tall the tidal wave which destroyed the statue must have been to actually reach the statue's head lol the statue is like 100 feet tall!!!

Apart from that by 'alright' you mean 'pretty shit' though right? Apart from that bit.

I love how they played the drunken Scotsman card.

Just under 7 weeks left of Lost. Though it ends with a 3 hour finale so it's going to be good. I'm certainly seeing significant build-up here

It's almost like they're using mirrors as a metaphor for a mirrored reality.

fuck that's deep.

Did a series catch up at the weekend. It's odd, I've been trying to piece together events from previous series to see if they make any sense in light of the revelations of the new series, I'm not sure if there are any startling discoveries to be made though. Also been waiting for the reappearance of Desmond, but apparently he's not on the cast list for this series, which makes me a very sad bunny.

This isn't exactly very big, but I remember back in season 3 or maybe even earlier, Ben told Kate she wasn't on Jacob's list. Think he told why, but I can't remember what. Does that list have something to do with the candidates or was it something else?

Do we know why living characters have their names crossed out and when?

Because they're no longer elligible as candidates. Duh. Somehow, their candidacy was tarnished and they can no longer run for Jacob.

Ooh yeah, that list a while back. It was Ben I think wasn't it? Was it the same people on the list?

Complaints, soft porn gifs from Dante and a smidgen of speculation. The usual fall out from a new episode of Lost!

I'm gonna sing my usual tune too: yet another great episode. Plenty of stuff happened and things are still building up nicely to whatever conclusion they have in store. I particularly liked seeing Jack get back into his leadership groove.

Chatting to my friend earlier, he told me his theory about how the entire series will end - Jack will replace Jacob, Locke MiB, the last scene will them both sitting on the beach, as the cycle of sorts starts over again. Good call?

Locke's dead so he isn't going to replace MiB. I've started to think that the MiB is actually the 'good' guy. Sawyer's clearly the best choice to take his role tbh. Sayid's the most interesting character at the moment, mind you. And Hurley - is his name still on the list? I sure hope not. He's just there because fat people are funny tbh.

Oh man. The newest episode will blow all of your minds away. Doesn't even compare to anything earlier this season.

I have a boner.

Fantastic episode. Nothing wrong with it at all, there's no spelling things out, no blatant twists, they just lay everything there and let the characters do the work.

I have to agree. That was my favourite episode of lost ever. A duking out of all the best secondary characters over the seasons, combined with a unifying theory of love holding the multiverse together, suggesting the complex iterations and necessities for both. Er... well, straddling the 'must we exist' oxymoron with one ankle atwixt each opposite, anyway. 'Love' being a thread of perfect 'fate' from start to end that exists in all possible universes, considering the possibility of all possible universes sharing one single trait be a possible possibile universe, anyway. Which it is. Not that 'love' is necessarily the same as that. That'd be like saying George is red because george is late because the red bus was late.

I thought the episode was okay, but not as amazing as you're making out. I'm a big Desmond fan, so it was great to have an episode about him (and other returning faces) again, but I guess I'm just not too happy that in the past three episodes, only one of them has followed the 'present-day' Losties storyline. Clearly this episode showed that there's a link between the flash-sideways and what's going on on the island, but I'd still rather they focussed on the main characters in the present day a little more. With only seven hours left, they're really running out of time...

I agree with the others, and gotta say thats the first episode of Lost I've enjoyed for a long time. Hope the build up to the finale continues in the same vein. No mumbo jumbo.
