Just Cause 2 Car Chases: "The Laws of Physics on Drugs"

500x_custom_1260142782346_justcause2.jpg

Again, the biggest selling point for Just Cause 2 is that it just does not give a damn. Motorcycle jump to a parachute landing? No biggie. Lasso a humvee to a cenotaph? All in a day's work.

About the only time where Just Cause 2's vehicle physics work against you is when it has the chance to create an even BETTER awesome car crash, such as street vehicles going off road, or anything trying to get a grip on icy surfaces. God, I lose it when that sportscar goes off the sand dune. Just lose it.

The thing is, I want this game to take itself seriously while all this crap is happening. Oh, sure, this would be hilarious if it was all set to a Dukes of Hazzard banjo accompaniment. But, like giggling in study hall, it's even funnier when you beach a cigarette boat, parachute onto the dock and karate kick a bad guy and try to keep a straight face throughout.

The first one was an awesome game but I wasn't too looking forward to this until I watched that video. *drools*

You can pick the first up cheap on the 360. Well worth it. It's a lot of fun and the graphics are pretty juicy if memory serves me (although it might have been all the colours! :heh: ).

If most of it take place in the vehicles wont it get a bit old blowing up the same old shizzle?

Dont beat me up just cause I dont like the look of it.

Most of it doesn't take place in vehicles, unless you want it to. It's a sandbox game.

I thought the first game was criminally underrated. I urge 360 owners to pick up a copy. I bought it because I was bored and it was half price, I hadn't really read anything about it. Really surprised. Skydiving through the clouds is awesome.

This and Saints Row are the only shooty sandboxy games I need.

Just been playing the demo of this on the PS3.

Wow. It looked awesome from both a graphical and gameplay point but to play this is to really see how good it is. It really feels epic in scope and the simple grappling/'chute mechanics are a joy to play with.

I've done a ton of missions which has opened up the map even more and even details such as swimming are beautifully handled. Racing around in cars/bikes is great fun and, well, everything just feels 'fun'.

Can't wait for this now!

I bought the 1st Just Cause and it was brilliantly fun but had aged horrendously by the time I got it. This demo is simply superb - the feeling of tearing down statues and watching cranes tumble is awesome. I also love slamming cars into oncoming traffic and fuel stations, leaping clear and then parachuting straight down to jack another one. It's just great fun up and down.

Yeah, I couldn't really get into it. Seemed a bit too fiddly.

That's probably what it was, plus I got the same feeling I get with all these 3rd person sandbox-type affairs.

It just seems too familiar, with the blowing certain shit up, then blowing another bit of shit up before blowing the main bit of shit up.

This/Mercenaries/The Saboteur/Red Faction are identical as far as I'm concerned, and big explosions and gimmicky special moves aren't going to change that. They all just feel a bit budgety in the presentation and old in the actual machanics department.

Honestly I wish it did. Blowing shit up is the first thing I look for in a game but it just felt a bit fiddly.

Are there actual missions in the demo? Because I couldn't find any. I was just running around aimlessly...which was probably a big part of the problem.

Yeah, at one point where you've collected enough points the game forces the map up to show you where the mission is.

I've never done it though, the idea of dropping a helicopter into a military base and seeing how much I can destroy is much more appealing to me, I call it helicopter bowling.

Going from the demo I'm gonna wait until sometime this summer and get it cheap during a games drought, I liked it but not enough to buy on a "day one" price.

I just played the demo and loved it. This has to be one of the first games that I've convinced myself I need to buy after playing the demo. Although, I'm probably going to wait for a price drop, as its almost guaranteed to happen after a few months for this sort of game.

Loved the demo, too. I just can imagine how much fun this game will be. :)

I think I'm getting this tomorrow since I still have a voucher for GameStop, which means I will have to pay 30€ less :D

This and FFXIII will keep me occupied for the next weeks (and maybe getting the GoW 3 Platinum).
