I'm definitely interested in this as I've liked what I've seen from trailers. Yet watching gameplay videos over at Gametrailers, I can't help but feel that the game lacks polish both on the visual and audio front for the consoles. The interface also looks cluttered/complex compared to the simplicity of that from the likes of Mass Effect's in game choice wheel.

I'll probably pick it up as it'll give me some action RPG satisfaction to tide me over until Bioware's other big game, ME2, comes out in January but I'm sure I'll enjoy this.

I haven't watched anything really, but I'm betting in terms of skills and what you can do, there's alot more in Dragon Age.

Yeah if their past titles are anything to go by. I think Mass Effect is much more created for consoles with a lot of Bioware's heritage ignored whilst Dragon Age Origins is a game that freely indulges in it plus brings it kicking and screaming into the HD era.

Anyone else bought this? Picked it up yesterday for the 360 (would have loved to get it for the PC but mine would never be able to run it) and after finally dragging myself away from Borderlands, I've managed to put some time in. And it's good. Baldur's Gate/Neverwinter Nights fans will undoubtedly enjoy it. Has that retro yet new feel to the gameplay. It does kind of feel like playing KotOR or an MMO game because of the battling, which I'm ok with as I've experienced both so I knew that it'd be a bit more slow paced in comparison to say Mass Effect. Will say the graphics do look a bit rough around the edges, so much so that something like Oblivion looks better in many areas. But the general fantasy look is well done.

I've only managed to play for about 1hr 45mins and I've not covered much ground. I've spent quite a lot of time just wandering about and talking to the NPCs to give me more info on what is happening. But yeh, enjoying it so far but don't think I'll be able to put much time into it with other games getting released shortly which is ashame.

I think the pc version is meant to be alot stronger. I'm waiting to see if the new pc I'll be getting at the end of the month can run it before I make a choice about buying it.

I bought this for the 360 as I felt like I needed a solid single player experience and I loved Mass Effect and Oblivion. However, I don't really like this. And graphically it looks really, really bad. I couldn't believe it when I saw an elf using a 10-polygon ham fist to fire his bow-and-arrow, by clipping into the massive bow which didn't even have a string attached. It looked like something out of Tomb Raider II.

I'm going to give it a few more tries but so far I don't find it particularly enjoyable to play, otherwise I'm going to see if I can return it....

Yeah I played it at Eurogamer Expo and was bloody bored to be honest. I didn't find the fighting at all engaging and didn't find the dialogue that I came across as well written as Bioware titles of old. Your right about the graphics not being that impressive at all....

I've downloaded the demo of torchlight which is a diablo clone, it is so much better than this in my opinion.

Absolutely loving this. Big fan of Bioware RPGs so no surprise that I'm enjoying this. Definitely isn't for everyone as it's very, very, very slow paced. Played for 4 hours earlier and it seemed as though I had done very little, and that was definitely the case. But in all honesty, I'm not too bothered. Game does have a habit of hammering you if you move out of your depth too quickly. Case in point, a battle while travelling between places turned up my first dragon opponent which proceeded to dodge all my main character's attack, jump on him and eat him, thus killing him. Can be very unforgiving if you have the wrong team/levels or use the wrong tactics.

Enjoying it though. I'm in the Fade, a dream world state, which will lead up to a boss battle. Some nice gameplay touches in here, coming in the form of shapeshifting. Not sure I'll get it finished by the time Mass Effect 2 comes out which may be a problem.

Nice to hear your enjoying ot. What you playing it on? I played the 360 version at eurogamer expo and was bloody bored rigid. This is coming from a fan of such game as Baldurs Gate etc.. Perhaps my tastes have just changed...Been playing demo of the Diablo clone, torchlight that seems much more interesting to me.

EDIT:

I've just realised my post here is near on identical to what I wrote above.

Picked this up today as I had been looking forward to it for a while.

Early impressions are very favourable and I can see me sticking a considerable amount of time into this. Granted, it does lack graphically but there are signs of a decent storyline with some interesting characters so the graphics are passable enough.

The only problem, I am going to have to split time with this and my sudden rediscovered addiction to Oblivion (didn't really feel it, when I first tried it), something will have to give eventually.

im really enjoying it so far, its not perfect but its very easy to get into yet very deep.

i suppose its very much your standard RPG, hasnt done alot new yet, but then, i love fantasy RPGs. as for boring, well, ive not been bored, and im easy to bore. maybe 30 hours in i will change my opinion, but already i am being sucked in.

getting a bad review in EDGE is no bad thing really, they seem to have gotten rather pretentious and pour scorn on anything that isnt the most origional idea since the apes decided to give there arms a rest and walk upright.

No? I'm pretty sure it got 3/10. You may be thinking of that whole Play debacle where they gave it 9.5, then dropped it to 8.5, then gave the PS3 version a 5.

Still, I can't get my head around that Edge 10. Mental. Maybe they have horny teenagers on their writing team now.

fair enough, its probebly more a case of taste, i usualy find my opinions more in touch with games tm, which is why i buy that rather then edge these days

im about 10 hours in now, and i love it. voice acting can be a bit hit and miss, but i really am enjoying the story, and i love the openess of it all.

I suck at this game. I've only just become a Grey Warden, and am going up some tower or other to light a beacon. I've gotten inside, but I get wasted by the first group of bad guys in there every time. I can't work out what I'm doing wrong.

turn the difficulty down, i just kept getting my ass kicked so about half way through, i dropped the difficulty a bit.

im right at the end now, should be done in a day or two.

It was on normal at first, but then I put it down to easy. I then get past the first group (only about half the time though) then get owned by the second before I have a chance to regen.

i have finnished, clocking in just under 50 hours for my first run. i did a a fair few side quests, and i made decisions the way i felt was right, which got me a pretty good ending. a fun game, but it did drag in places. never the less, i look forward to a second play through.
