Oooooo, this is a tough one for me. I'd want the winner of this one to win the whole thing though so with that in mind I'm gonna vote Everlong as I think it'll stand a better chance in the final.

It's gonna have to be Everlong for me - the first time I havn't voted for Rage in any of their matches yet. Everlong still stands strong as one of my all time favourite songs, but SNITF is still a great song, just not as great.

This is quite tough! I'm going to go with Rage. As artists, they are unique and somewhat gorundbreaking. This song, while maybe seen as a typical Rage song, sums up what they're all about: Morello's powerful driven riffs along with his solo wizardry combined with de la Rocha's cutting lyrics and emotional delivery.

I like the Foos, and Everlong is a good song, but it does get bummed quite a bit by rabid fanboys that claim it's the greatest song ever.

I'm so fucking bored of Everlong.

Whys? :(

I admit, I bum it. But, it deserves it. I just find it really haunting, and it does seem to follow me everywhere. It was one of my favourite songs before I started uni, and it just seemed to be more and more relevant, and even today. The words and music just seem to belong together. It probably is my perfect song.

I bluddy love Rage, too. Sleep Now In The Fire is one of the first songs that I attempted to learn on bass guitar. Brilliant tune, and it's got a cracking video that goes with it. It's definitely in my top 5 Rage songs, probably along with Bullet in the head and Killing in the name of. They've had so many quality tunes. :)

Audioslave are also pretty damn awesome, too. Brad Wilk is a very under-rated drummer. Everyone looks at Rage and says "Morello! Morello!" but Tim Commerford (the bassist) and Brad are equally as important. Tim is one hell of a bassist. :)

Again, very tough (like with Fake Plastic Trees), but I'm going to sleep have to go with Everlong. I know that I'll still be listening to both of these songs in five years time. They're both very different, but I just love that guitar riff for Everlong. I pick up my guitar every now and again and whip that out. It just hits the spot. :)

Sorry Dys, wasn't meant as a personal attack on you! I like Everlong, I don't think it's their best song though.

There's only one other song of theirs that I think even comes close to topping it, and that's My Hero. Both brilliant choons. What do you think is their best?

As I've said before, Everlong lies. It sounds good, and then is actually a really underwhelming and unsatisfactory song once it's over. Don't really care how fun it is to play on the guitar VILLAN! *points*

I hate Sleep Now In The Fire, but I'm more in the mood for it.

Really? Is that how it feels to you? See, to me, it feels very satisfying. It sounds like you could listen to it, and then just sleep happily afterwards. I guess the same sort of feeling you'd get from finishing a great book.

I don't get Everlong. It should be awesome. It has great guitar parts / general music. But the vocals are awful. He doesn't sound passionate enough. And the lines at the end of each bit towards the start are the worst musical thing I've ever heard. The first time he sings "everlong" just sounds wrong. As if it was written wrong.

I've already said previously that the build-up/climax is unsatisfieingly underwhelming.

It has the makings of a good song, but it just isn't. Normally, I wouldn't cross-analyse a song, but when people are saying it's their favourite song ever... Surely there's other stuff in the same genre that's much better? (I know there is. Otherwise Rock wouldn't be a genre, because it would be shit) (Surely there's better Foo Fighters songs?). It's just the fact the vocalist is really average that ruins it for me.

There's much more to complain about in Sleep Now In The Fire. Mostly because it has nothing going for it, apart from the fact it's vaguely mosh-able.

Right after having listened to both again, one after another I'm going with RATM. Mostly because Everlong was sounding good, but then it just ended and I think it could've done so better. Also Sleep Now In The Fire hooked me more.
