Nolan Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 You're right, it does do handling quite well. And I do know quite fine in the races myself, making time at corners (and straightaways) I generally only race the RWD and AWD too. The first thing I did when I got the Wings West Civic was swapped the power train for the S2000 RWD power train. A class car up against C's.... The best I example I can really come up with is It's GT4 though, but skip to 1:10, and right at the point where he tries to correct via steering he spins out the other direction. That happens more often than it should, just minus the spin 180 part. Usually it jerks into a wall or about a 90. Ahh well, it just seems better in Forza 3 is the point.
... Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Hehe, that's a cool funny video. I'd like to see one of those for Forza.
Ganepark32 Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Downloaded and gave the demo a go. It was alright. I've not really played the other Forzas properly but didn't really take to them and the same applies here. It does feel realistic enough, although over the top at some points where it does border on the surreal. Not sure if I'd commit to a purchase of it though. I do like racers but I just couldn't feel it with this. Maybe if there's any deals or something in the run up to xmas, which I'm sure there will be, then perhaps I'd consider it.
Nolan Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Hehe, that's a cool funny video. I'd like to see one of those for Forza. I hoped to find one for Forza but couldn't. The same guy did one for Enthusia and shows that it's much closer to real than GT4.
MATtheHAT Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I was going to skip this and wait for Gran Turismo instead. Now its just turned into a Day 1 purchase. http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/103/1033110p1.html
Esequiel Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Is the ability to rewind the race in the main game? If so im not going to bother with it...
Gizmo Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 There is an option that can be ignored, so you're skipping it?
Esequiel Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 There is an option that can be ignored, so you're skipping it? Same reason i skipped that other one... GRID was it? It just seems a pointless thing to add to a racing game? The whole point is that you get good at it and learn not to fuck it up.... just the fact that a moronic option like that is in the game puts me off.

Riiiight, nevermind the fact that in Grid and Dirt 2 if you bump the difficulty up to the highest setting you aren't allowed to rewind at all. And I'm sure you're so hardcore of a racer that you always play on the highest setting right? Since you get so good that you never fuck up? And the AI never screws you over in a cheap manner right? The reason the option is in the games is for people who like to race, but don't have the time/patience/skills to become good enough to never ever mess up a race and not get first or try the race 40 times over to get first. All you're doing is making yourself sound like an elitist prick.
Dyson Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Niice post, leetpants. I'm with you on this, the rewind feature is one that I'm sure will will become a staple in racing games soon anyway.
... Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 I agree with both of you (and probably the rest of the world except one guy), if an option can be turned off, I don't see the problem. Just don't use it, it's optional. It's like the in-race music, something I didn't like that they added in Forza 3. But I can turn it off in the menus, so it doesn't bother me. The way I see it, the more options the better. You like 'em, you use 'em, you don't like 'em, you don't use 'em.

I dont mean to sound like a "Elitist prick" and im certainly not a hardcore racing fan. I loved PGR4 and Forza 2 and GT i just think its making games too easy! When the game comes out il have a look at the menu and if you can turn it off il give it a try.
... Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 It's not making games too easy, it's giving the option to the gamer to make the games too easy. There's a difference. Think of it like difficulty levels. Not everyone plays the COD games on Veteran. Most people I know play them on Normal. The COD games are a walk in the park on Recruit or Normal and extremely hard on Veteran. The player is given the choice of how he want to play the game, easy or hard. Same here. If you want a hardcore pure racing experience, turn off all assists and don't use the rewind button. If someone else just wants to have fun without frustrations, then that someone will use some assists and the rewind button if needed.

Also If I race for half an hour, and on the last corner screw up, that disc is getting mangled in anger. With a rewind button all is saved Plus it's not playing it for you.
Hero-of-Time Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Looks like GAME are sending games out early to beat the postie strikes as my copy of Forza 3 has just been sent.
Goafer Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Got Forza today. Played it with the steering wheel and used manual gears. I love it a lot. I've always found "simulation" style racing games a bit boring and only enjoyed them for the car collecting bit, but with a wheel it's so much more fun.
Esequiel Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Bought it and i will admit i was wrong The rewind button does not detract from the gameplay which is still challenging and fun ^^
That Guy Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I think this is a far better game than Forza 2. The way it presents each race is far better, in that you can use you're current car, or see new tracks or use a new car. That was my biggest problem with Forza 2, and the biggest improvement in Forza 3.
RoadKill Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Easily the best simulation racer there is around now. Still got my eye on GT5, though.
That Guy Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I can't really think of much they could do to improve on this. I really have found nothing to complain about so far.
Goafer Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 The only thing I don't like about this so far is the way races are presented to you. I don't like the way it gives you 2 set races and then 1 based on the car you're "driving". I'd much rather they just show you all available races then I can pick which one I'd like to do first and then pick a car to suit, rather than the current way of pick a car and the game chooses a suitable race. I much prefer GTs way of presenting races, at least it seems like some sort of progressions since you can see how far you've come and have left to go. Other than that though, this game is amazing. Combined with the use of the wheel, it's definately my favourite racer (apart from maybe PGR4, but that's a different sort of racer).
That Guy Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I actually prefer this way of it presenting to you. I like the way I can pick the car I want and then the game shows me a race I can use the car for.
Goafer Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Come on everyone, get your pictures up! My average looking Golf MK2: My tramp drift BMW:
Goafer Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Got back into this today and tried the multiplayer. Man alive, people are good. I'm going to blame the fact that I'm using a wheel and manual gears. I could beat them if I joined in with their cheating and used automatic... Some more recent pictures of my tramp drift BMW
