Are the bugs as bad as people say or is it worth it?

From what I've encountered, it's less buggy than Fallout 3. Mine has crashed two times so far (in around 23 hours).

I've had no crashes, but did have a Giant Radscorpion stuck in the ground, which was pretty funny. The glitches make the game.

The imperfections in general make the game. I don't think I'd rather have it any other way, bar the removal of the odd second or two freeze mid-movement.

I've had one freeze during VATS thats all so far! Fingers crossed there isn't anything else. Although who knows the patch may have got rid of the ton of the bugs. I really wouldn't let the bugs and glitches put you off playing like so many people have said they can actually make the experience better.

Oh, I had one annoying bug where one of my companions vanished for around three hours.

I just levelled up to Level 5 and got to place my Skill Points, but not choose a perk. :(

You should have noticed that at level 3. You get a perk every two levels.

He isn't the only one though Bethesda had to come out and remind people as it was getting reported as a bug.

I did wonder myself but figured that at level 3 too. Only bug i've had is that randomly I get a black line across the screen sometimes when I zoom without a weapon. Someone suggested it's my video card but it seems a bit weird why it only happens when i'm unarmed.

I am having too much fun with this game.

On my way to the boat that takes me to the Caesars camp, I remembered that Boone hates everything Legion related, so I thought this might be fun.

Boone made it clear that he wanted to kill everything red in the slaver camp and I opted in, wanted to see how far we could make it.

Short time later, we stood over the corpse of the Caesar and all of his guard, good times were had.

Which left what I wanted to do with Benny who was tied up in the corner.

After remembering that he tried to kill me TWICE over the chip, I decided to punch his head off, would probably bite me in the ass if he was walking around.

Right now, I'm exploring Repconn headquarters and found Boon his new weapon which has the added affect of making enemies melt into green goo.

I love that guy

This feels so much like Fallout 1 and 2.

Ordered the Austrian [PEGI] version so that I can play it uncut. Shame that it's in German. Well, this version was way cheaper than a UK import.

There's one tiny little FUCKING problem...it will be sent in two weeks from now. TWO long weeks :(

I envy you guys.

You get one pretty much as soon as you go to the strip.

I have noticed I have a shit load of quests, around 7! Most of which I can't do due to lack of experience in Speech, Barter and the like. Others are simply in areas far away I haven't explored. Now this isn't a complaint at all, it's just i'm a completionist and having a load of quests I can't do is a little frustrating :). Getting to Primm was a game changer for me, found a shit load of dynamite, blasted and sneak killed my way through. Upgraded my weapons so now raiders aren't much of an issue. Armed enemies are a pain as I have no Armor Piercing rounds. I still would like my own house, at the moment i'm squatting in a wrecked trailer in Goodsprings. All my shit is in a metal box so I don't know how safe that is. I'm also reluctant to sell all my NCR currency as i've got a few grand

You should probably know now that its impossible to complete every quest in a single play through.

In terms of housing, you'll probably find one soon, as there is one you can get early on. From what I've read on other forums though, you can store stuff in the house that the robot was in in Good springs.

Its best to wait until late game to sell all your foreign currencies for caps. You'll get more money for them when your barter skill is higher. This includes Pre-war money.

Ah right well...

It's weird how you can turn from having shit loads of stuff to nothing at all in one little wander. I went to Novac, got raped by everything but the kitchen sink. Gangs, random creatures, the damn Legion! I'm also now wanted by Legion assasins I can't kill. I also can't seem to kill Giant Radscorpians and i've ran seriously low on all ammo lol. On the plus side i've figured out how to play Caravan and have since won around 3000 caps against the lady in Mojave outpost. She keeps playing me and losing! So as far as the house goes I might rent the one in Novac. Went to see what their ghoul problem is and apparently there are Super mutants with stealth boys in their basement. FUCK THAT! Thanks for the info on the quests, I would try to do them all too

P.S. I forgot that was Emashers quoted spoiler not my own :).

Only played an hour so far and its just like playing Fallout 3.. and thats not a bad thing!

Honestly, the very most basic gameplay is the same between the two games, but New Vegas really adds to the formula. They (Obsidian) also don't make stories made of crap held together by silly string.

I'm having a bit of trouble taking out armored people. I just can't get through their DT. I actually find this to be a good thing though, it forces me to be more tactical and cripple limbs to give myself the combat advantage as opposed to just going for the kill as was common in FO3.

Can anyone disclose some skill book locations within and around Goodsprings/Nipton regions?

I've only found 3 so far N__N

I found a Big Book of Science next to a funny terminal, it's in a locked room in the Nipton Town Hall

Also, I think it was a 'lying, congressional style' in a petrol/refuel station very near to primm, on the edge of a road. Called 'roadside station' or something.

Can't remember where I found the other one. Mightve been in a house in Nipton or the primm luck casino.

Help me find more pray?

ok so a few early observations:

So yeah went to Nipton and shit myself when all the Legion soldiers came hurtling out shooting but they weren't shooting at me lol! They told my why they had done what they had done and its hard to argue with it, perhaps their methods are extreme. I was told I could fight them if I wanted but I was no where near strong enough to take them all, I'm sure I will run into them later.

This is one way in which I think your prime motivators change in this game compared to Fallout 3. In 3 your prime motivator was obviously finding your father and then the water purifier. However in New Vegas you do live in a world that is much more ruled by greed (thats not to say 3 didn't have people living the "high life" it was just less prevalent in the game world as a whole) and the allure of the strip (I've not even got there yet after 7 hours of play) Clearly in your role as a courier you do have or have had some part in this richer side of things, to what extent I don't yet know. The role of the people I said in the spoiler serve as a neat juxtaposition to this and make you think about your role within it and whose side you may ultimately take.

So yeah been happily doing work for the powder gangsters (lol at Nash) and doing work for them as none of it was awful stuff. I dealt with Chavez and the Merchant by talking to them rather than killing them. However now has come a moment where I have to effectively chose sides. I can go back and tell Eddie about the NCR's planned attack or can go and give the NCR some tips. It's a tough one. Sure the PG are criminals but some of them did smaller crimes like the "doctor" just nicked a few medical supplies. Also if like they say the correctional facility was run like a slave camp then good on them for breaking free, finally they are kinda holed up and not causing any huge problems...plus getting Meyers to become Sheriff in Primm proves the two can work hand in hand if they choose to.

I love how all my views and opinions that are pouring out as a result of this game are all plot/choice devices the game is presenting to me. Really getting drawn in which I love!
