Happenstance Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 1. Make sure you've played Extreme Escape: 999 on the DS BEFORE you played VLR. 2. Make sure you've set aside 40 hours or so to get through that bad boy Yeah I'd always heard 999 was good and worth playing. I think it was just because I would have to import it that I never got around to it.
Goron_3 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Yeah I'd always heard 999 was good and worth playing. I think it was just because I would have to import it that I never got around to it. Really? I think I got my copy off of amazon for £20 two years back. Alternatively, you could get it on iOS (if you have an iPad). It *slightly* changes the experience as the main hook is built around the DS hardware, but it's 'okay'. Really, hunt down 999 because it's one of the best games you'll ever play. The story is phenomenal

It looks like Videogamesplus.ca have it quite cheap and there seem to be quite a few copies on ebay so I'll get it at some point.
Miharin Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I bought 999 from videogamesplus.ca and it was like 15 dollars? Definitely worth it.

Grazza Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Hmm, tempted by that! I do like the arcade version of Donkey Kong. Out of interest, is this the only arcade game available on the 3DS eShop?
Miharin Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Finally Phoenix Wright on sale! I've played so many visual novel-ish games lately. One more can't hurt.
Dcubed Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 One for you @RedShell Finally KORG DSN-12 will go on sale on Sep 25th for EU. We are very sorry for the delay. US ver. is final checking by nintendo now.please be patient. Hmm, tempted by that! I do like the arcade version of Donkey Kong. Out of interest, is this the only arcade game available on the 3DS eShop? Technically it's not an arcade game, but rather it's an unreleased NES game. It's basically a fixed version of the NES port of the original DK with the missing Pie Factory level and the missing animations re-instated back into the game. It's basically a perfect port of the original now, outside of the aspect ratio difference between the arcade hardware and the NES of course.

Of course there are the Sega 3D Classics too, many of which I believe use the arcade assets (an exception being Altered Beast). Being of a certain age, nothing makes me more nostalgic than classic era coin-ops, and the day there is a big selection of them on the eShop is the day I buy a massive memory card!

Being of a certain age, nothing makes me more nostalgic than classic era coin-ops, and the day there is a big selection of them on the eShop is the day I buy a massive memory card! Agreed. I HUNGER for quality home ports of classic coinops! I'm tempted to get an Xbox One purely because it has quality emulated versions of KI 1 & 2 on there! (ok, Sunset Overdrive looks cool and Scalebound will no doubt be a must have because, you know... Kamiya, so there are other reasons too :p ) and my 360 now exists for nothing outside of Cave Shmups, Treasure games and Rez HD/Virtua On OT HD, ever since it lost all of its exclusives that I care about and the title of best version of Bayonetta to Wii U The lack of support for the VCA is just utterly tragic!! Especially since the NeoGeo got mostly excellent support (Japan saw over half of its entire library made available on the Wii VC, really can't complain - outside of Windjammers getting De-listed, without any warning, literally a single day before I got my JPN Wii ) Edited September 21, 2014 by Dcubed

Mandalore Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Are GAME still the only retailer which sell digital codes for retail 3DS games? I'm sure I saw news a few months back about other retailers being able to do it too, but I can't see digital codes being sold anywhere else.
