Pyxis Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 It was around August 2000 for me. I was a fan of play.yahoo.com. I 'grew up' on the Fighter Planes Forum! That was the best forum on the internet before it died. Clocked up about 8,000 posts. Now I visit Warships1, google.news, engadget.com, eurofighter-typhoon.co.uk and chinese-tools.com
Kirkatronics Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 The first ever site i visited was Pojo.com then i remember writing an image down on a piece of paper so i could look at it later. It was something really long and silly with % and & and lots of / in them lol.
Pit-Jr Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 My internet history began on my tv in the form of WebTV which i thought was the coolest thing ever at the time. It took damn near 5 minutes just to log onto the internet and the only input device was a wireless keyboard.
Letty Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 - I first became involved in the internet at the tender age of 11, where I had an account on NEOPETS.com. I went under the alias 'dizzyandproud'. (I was soo cool :p ) - I started secondary school soon after that point, where I met former mod Sarka! He introduced me to cube-europe, where I lurked for a few months. I finally joined as it became revo-europe! I was 'sarkas_girly'. - I also became involved in dA around that point. -I guess I like sticking to habits, as they've not really changed since then! Except for my neopets account. I amassed over 2mil neopoints, only to realise that it was a stupid website, and I GAVE AWAY MY ACCOUNT!! I didn't realise til later that accounts with that sort of money were going for tons on ebay T_T
Coolness Bears Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Neopets was awesome. I was so cheap and poor at the game I stole all the rubbish items off the magic tree or whatever! I had no idea what was going on. I created an account called Koonamcampa in the end as I got so frustrated that other more normal stuff was gone. Eventually I forgot about it and forgot my password and Username. As it was essestinally an angry mash of letters. :p
thirtynine. Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Got dialup sometime in the 90's. My mate would stay over and we would sneak downstairs and look for porn. We were in primary school. Later in year 7/8 this evolved into looking for fucked up porn. I remember one time he rang me and was like "DUDE, I JUST SAW A DWARF AND A MAN THE DWARF WAS AT CROTCH HEIGHT" He was so proud of himself. He has now grown out of this habbit and got severely pissed off when i showed him and his girlfriend 2Girls1Cup. I then started using forums. TutorialtombForums. It was lolz. We did graphics. Then I joined Here. Then TTF Closed down. Then i joined some Bike forum. That is why I am here less. Throw in some random social networking sites and that is all.
ReZourceman Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Bike Forum is stealing you from us? I demand the URL.
Blue_Ninja0 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I only got internet in the 2000 or something. I think you guys might find this internet time machine interesting: http://www.archive.org/web/web.php Try putting the old URLs from Cube-Europe or N64.
James McGeachie Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Mine starts in like late 2000. Finally got access to the internet through dial up after getting a PC in '99. Started searching for crap like porn.com as I was an excitable and ignorant teen. Used the internet for random stuff (MAINLY PORN) for like a year and watching clips of things like DBZ. Joined chatrooms in late 2001 and ended up getting ridiculous typing speeds spending hours a day in them for months, trying out all sorts of "hacking programs" to take control of the rooms. Half the stuff I downloaded was actually trojans of course, very stupid in retrospect. Anyway eventually led onto mass forum use in 2002 to the point where I was on a ton of anime and art ones and used them constantly for years. Started playing online games like Runescape and Ragnarok online too,, was also spending a lot of time on GAMEFAQS forums. Ended up getting broadband internet finally in 2003. Was pretty much a hardcore nerd for this era until 2004 or so. Eventually got burnt out on all the forums use and just casually use them now and dont get very sociable online anymore, I'm kinda done with that. I think I joined Cube-Europe sometime in 2005 but just posted occasionally, same goes for here really. I didn't become hardcore at following Nintendo news until about E3 2004. I watched the Zelda reveal live and some of the DS stuff and the hype was immense. After that I was constantly tracking down DS and Revolution stuff for ages, I was so hyped and every little bit of new info was like some amazing find to me. That's all gone now though, to be honest after 8 years of regular internet use im kinda burnt out on the whole thing, I just use it simply out of habit and boredom.
