Jimbob Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Jeez, there's Dirty Dom heat. Then there's the heat Hogan had during his sporadic appearance. People just didn't want to see him at all. 1
Will Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Quite enjoyed Raw and can see myself watching at least through to WrestleMania. I do with these shows weren’t quite so long. Maybe I’m just getting old but 3 hours of Raw + (I assume) the same for Smackdown is just too much wrestling for me each week. I feel like 2 hours (so under 1.5 considering ad breaks) for each is quite enough for me. 1

Good thing is that as NXT and SmackDown are still shown on network TV in the US, those two when shown here on Netflix (if you don’t watch live) actually have the ad breaks cut out. So NXT still runs 1 and a half hours and Smackdown around 2 hours 15. It’s only now Raw where we will have to deal with the full three hours, and you can even tell that the show still caters for ad breaks when it cuts to black for a second then comes back. 1
CrowingJoe79 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I was bored yesterday, so I listened to Jon Moxley chatting on a podcast with Chris Jericho, where Moxley was open about his departure from WWE in 2019. I'd have left too. Those promos Vince wanted him to say live were just the dumbest. 🤪 1 1
Helmsly Posted January 29 Posted January 29 (edited) WWE's Vault channel uploaded the enture 2001 Royal Rumble match a few days ago: I think this is one of the best Royal Rumbles of all time (or at-least for me, its tied with RR '92). So much about this Rumble is entertaining. I don't think there is a dull moment in the entire match. This really was an amazing era for WWF, with Stone Cold, Rock, Triple H, Undertaker and Kane all in their prime as well as guys like the Hardy Boys. I remember watching this live and it was at the time that Channel 4 aired PPVs, which I noticed a lot of people in the comments for this video mentioned too. I also noticed a few edits/changes they made. They dubbed over Stone Colds Disturbed theme he was using at the time and replaced it with his normal music. i assume for copyright reasons. Weirdly, Undertakers Limp Bizkit theme is there in full though. Also there is a part when Terri Runnels walks to the ring and King makes a few comments about it being "nippley in here" that they removed. Edited January 29 by Helmsly 1 1
BowserBasher Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Found out today that WWE now has a NXT YouTube Channel Looks like they are uploading full episodes (older NXT not current but that’s no bad thing) and even full NXT TakeOvers. 2
CrowingJoe79 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Yes. The 2001 Royal Rumble was great. Kane was on fire that night. Because, well. He's the Big Red Machine. 🤤 Why did they stop the traditional Survivor Series matches? I do prefer them over the War Games cage bouts. 1

Plus I think they saw how well the War Games matches did in NXT that they thought it would be good to bring them to the main shows. 1
WackerJr Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Taking place tonight is one of my favourite wrestling events of the year: the WWE Royal Rumble. What are people’s thoughts and expectations? With this being the first PLE on Netflix I’m hoping they go above & beyond to make it a good event. The rumble itself if usually either excellent (like the 2001 previously, or the past few women’s ones) or a huge disappointment (see the 2022 Men’s one). I feel there are some strong contenders in the men’s match this year and hopefully a few good surprise entrants too (I believe….! 😜 and what a pop that’ll be if the Scot appears!) There’s some exciting matches too this year, with the male tag team championship match (DIY vs Motor City Machine Guns) having a lot of potential to be an entertaining one. My guesses for the winners this year are: • Women’s: Charlotte Flair (final 3 with Jordanne Grayce & Liv Morgan). • Men’s: CM Punk (final 3 with John Cena & Roman Reigns). 1
BowserBasher Posted February 1 Posted February 1 The way Raw ended and Smackdown started I feel Punk is gonna win and I'll be disappointed. Never got how people think he's such a great wrestler. I've never seen it, to me just a solid wrestler. No. better than most top guys. There's certainly many better. Anyway. I do hope they swerve us with that and it's someone else. But then apart from Cena, there's really no one that has been postponed to win and main event WM. I do like the idea of Sami vs Owens though, but I don't see that happening. I've said that HE will appear at the Rumble since he finished his NXT run. I can tell he has a promising future in WWE if he does go there permanently. If he does I can see him being last 5 left in the ring. Women's Rumble is much more open to me though. No one has seemed a shoe in to be the winner. I feel Charlottes vignettes and return is a cover for a bigger return (The Man?) I had read she was supposed to be back at the Jan 6th Netflix premier. And a rerun of last years women's title match at WM again, with both women at 100% would be a banger. Both will have NXT guys and gals appear as usual. And 1 or 2 TNA to appear as there has been that the last few years too. Cody will retain, can't have him going less than a year after ending such a Reign. DIY to retain. Can't think of any other matches announced. I hope it's a good one and there is a good surprise or two. Please Drew, toss Punk out for us. 1
CrowingJoe79 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I'd say plenty of husband-wife combos are expected, as a lot of people were spotted at the venue today. 😅 AJ Lee is still a possibility. 🤔 1
martinist Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Hi I'm just here to say I really like Joe Hendry. 1 1
BowserBasher Posted February 13 Posted February 13 1 hour ago, CrowingJoe79 said: Do you want Joe to be at WrestleMania? 🙂 No, I don’t think that’s needed yet. Plus he’s still contracted and champ in TNA and I’m not sure they’d put one of their champs on the show even with the deal. Definitely see him as a main guy once he decides to move fully over to WWE though. 1
CrowingJoe79 Posted February 18 Posted February 18 It's really all about the game... and how you play it. 😂 Why are so many new titles being introduced? It's going to lead to oversaturation. https://www.wrestlezone.com/news/1542794-triple-h-introduces-mens-and-womens-wwe-id-championships

Those are for these new WWEID prospects. From the link they will be for the men and women and will be defended by them on indie shows. I actually think with the introduction of the two new women’s belts on the main roster we have a good number of belts now. Since the brands are split, we have a men’s and women’s top belt. Mid belt and rage belts (albeit the women’s tag one is cross show) and i think it works. 1
Helmsly Posted March 1 Posted March 1 (edited) More excellent behind the scenes footage uploaded on WWE's vault channel: It's pretty cool to see the likes of Triple H, Booker T and Rob Van Dam viewing the Elimination Chamber for the first time and seeing their reactions to it Edited March 1 by Helmsly 2
BowserBasher Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Thanks @Helmsly. Interesting seeing them just before interviews actual start asking "am I looking here or there" type stuff. Really shows how it's all done. On tonights Chamber. Really can't call either one. Mens I think is going to be down to three. Cena, Punk or Drew. Just because each of those has a story going into Mania. Cena, Last chance. Punk, want to headline it. Drew, still obsessed with the title and bloodline stuff. Womens I can't call. I think it's open to anyone. I'd love to see Roxanne win it just because it's something that has never been done before (NXT winner). She's shown she's ready for the main roster, had a great Rumble showing and even not winning the title at WM, it'll give her a huge boost when she is a mainstay of the main roster. 1
Helmsly Posted March 6 Posted March 6 WWE have made a third Youtube channel, a similar one to their WWE Vault channel which will upload WCW content: 1
CrowingJoe79 Posted March 16 Posted March 16 CM Punk has shaved. https://www.wrestling-world.com/news/news/wwe/34678/cm-punk-shaves-beard-ahead-of-upcoming-return/
Helmsly Posted March 30 Posted March 30 WWE Vault uploaded a couple more behind the scenes videos from the past, never seen before. This Wrestlemania 2000 video is a great showcase of how things were backstage during this era but also a little hartbreaking when you see Chyna looking so happy. And then there is this random back and forth with Rock and Stone Cold at Fan Axxess in 2003, which wasn't planned but is pretty great: 1
Helmsly Posted April 13 Posted April 13 I just watched through this documentary about Wrestlemania IX, which something I never thought they would do as it's not known as a particular great PPV but it was one of the first times they made Wrestlemania a true Spectacle with a redesigned set as well as it taking place in Las Vegas, and it turned out to be the first time they recorded footage backstage while the event was being set up and running. I absolutely loved it, as they had a lot of behind the scenes footage from a time when they absolutely never did that kind of thing, to protect the gimmicks of the characters, but you get to see them all hanging out, laughing and chatting with each other as well as crazy stuff like all the animals they had backstage for the various entrances as well as you get to see the wrestlers in modern day look back at the footage and reminisce and talk about what was happening at that time. It was very interesting to hear the stuff going on backstage at the time. For example, Lex Lugar says he thinks thinks Mr Perfect had "too much caffeine that day" (lol) as once he got in the ring he uncharacteristically had no idea what to do in the match and kept asking Lex "what are we doing". Undertaker talks about how difficult it was to wrestle Giant Gonzalaz and they even talk about Gonzalaz ring attire and what it was originally supposed to look like compared to how it looked once they made the suit. And of course the controversy over the ending of Bret being cheated out of the the title by Yokuzuna only for Hulk Hogan to get a match and win it minutes later. Even as a Hulk Hogan fan I wasn't 100% on board with that at the time. Its worth watching if you are nostalgic for that era. Sadly its not available to watch officially outside US, but its out there. 1
Will Posted April 13 Posted April 13 For all its faults I actually love Wrestlemania IX, probably more due to my age/ability to watch wrestling at the time - the documentary sounds super interesting - going to try and give it a watch. 1
Happenstance Posted April 13 Posted April 13 There's a few ok matches but knowing how it ends does sully a lot of it.
BowserBasher Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Watched the WM IX doc last night, really good watch. I love this type of thing, not so much for the seeing guys out of character, but for what goes into making the shows go to plan. Interesting stuff I found in this was the fact that even 3 hours before the show was to air, they were doing rehearsals on entrances. an that was in an open arena (if you call a converted parking lot an arena) where if there was any way to fly over it could have given things away. I knew about the whole Hogan thing and how he shouldn't have been anywhere in the main event, but I remember at the time that word was that the guys or one that was in change at Ceasars Palace, wanted Hogan to win the title and he made it happen that way. From the sounds of things in this, Vince had already made that choice before hand (Bret knew on the Friday) and it seems that not for the only time in his time at WWE, Vince Screwed Bret. Anyway, it's WrestleMania weekend. What are people looking forward to in terms of matches, and any predictions? Think like many I'm probably interested in the WWE title match. Just for the reason of what would they do. If Cody wins, then what does Cena do for the rest of the year? He can't just go back to being a face and act like this didn't happen. But I don't see him having much to do as heel Cena for the remainder of the year as is. N ow if he wins, then he's already told us what he's going to do and we have a story for the rest of the year. Jey has to win, it seems like they have been building him up for this big win for a while now. Jacob Fatu has to win the US title, guys on fire right now, and he's going to be a big name in the future. NXT Stand and Deliver should be great too. It's always a great show. I had to look it up but for anyone that watches the Hall of Fame ceremony, for us in the UK it will be on WWE's YouTube channel. I thought Netflix may have had it since they have al the shows, but it seems that they really only have the main three and PLE shows.
