Famitsu, according to Capcom boards and the-horror.com forum:

 

Popular Japanese gaming bulletin board, 2ch, has posted information on

what looks to be a brand new remake of fan favourite Resident Evil

title, Biohazard 2. For now, the posting lists the following features

for the game, which will be released exclusively on Nintendo Wii. The

details were alledgedly published in the latest Famitsu.

 

 

* Full Remake akin to Biohazard on the Gamecube.

 

* Some parts consist of Resident Evil 4 viewpoints

 

* New knight like ("swordsman") creature shown

 

* Additional story elements will be implemented

 

Dead Rising can sod off now.

Come on, you'd take a remake even with door loadings surely!

 

They left them as 'tension builders' in REmake, so there's a chance they'll do the same here.

What the fuck?! Put the loading doors back in. It's part of classic Resi Evil lore. I love them.

 

If this is true, then as a person who unfortunately missed out on 2, but has always wanted to play it, I'll be delighted.

 

This has been rumoured about for some time, hasn't it?

if this is true I don't know why there would be bits where there is a traditional view and where there is a RE4 view, surely everyone wants it thew new way?

The game wouldn't be right with the new controls all the time because the levels aren't designed that way.

a very very long time..

 

I dont ,i dont mind the door openings tey made it feel nostalgic to me also.. its the loading of going up the stairs etc that bothered me.. The original remake did an excellent job of fixing this..

 

I hope they dont wreck it with re4 viewpoint sections id be happy with a re gamecube remake again.

Some things just dont work in that view.

Door loadings are part of the old school RE atmosphere, IMHO.

I'll believe it when i see the first screens or scans. Still, it would be so awesome if it were true. Should they decide to use the RE4 viewpoint, I'd imagine they would truly remake the game. Re-designed levels to accommodate the camera, but keeping the story in tact.

 

They've already got the Ada and Leon models. Story is there. I could see this happening. For now, it's still wishful thinking.

Not at all, that would be the virtual storage equivalent of inserting an antelope into a thimble.

Depends on which version he means. If he's referring to the N64 version, then it's definatly possible.

I assumed he was talking about the GameCube version. If it's a full remake rather than a straight port (cough - Biohazard 0 - cough) then surely it'd be worth it? They've already said that Resident Evil 5 isn't coming to the Wii for the time being.
