EEVILMURRAY
That's right our friends. His name may or may not be Quaid but tonight he's getting his ass to Mars without the need of a choppa. Our forum favourite film Total Recall is on tonight my Shabtastic buddies! This topic contains another discussive undertone though, how many times have you thought of a certain movie or whatnot, then find it is on TV in the next few days? Apart from getting Total Recall for one's birthday, earlier this year I started thinking of Hollow Man, with our main man Bacon. I like to look on Wikipedia about films randomly to assimilate info, and found out about the sequel. Asked my houemate to download it but he said he couldn't find it. What film happened to be on the next day? Hollow Man tw0. Magical. Go.

Fierce_LiNk
Am I the only one that thinks he is a shit actor? Does it matter if he is or not? I don't think he ever intended to become Austria's answer to Marlon Brando. He's had such an amazing life, and when you think about it, he IS the American dream. A man from Austria, coming to the U.S. with little knowledge of the English language, along the way becoming an action film icon and playing one the biggest movie villains/heroes in film history (The Terminator). Now, he is the Governor of California. I don't care who you are, that's a remarkable story. His films are always fun to boot. Tell me you can watch the likes of Predator, Total Recall and Kindergarten Cop without cracking a smile or reciting one of the lines, because if you sit down and watch these films you'll probably warm to him. As you can see, I love the guy.

EEVILMURRAY
You made a thread last time this was on. I know, it was magical then. Magical now. Maybe you should buy the DVD.... I have: Apart from getting Total Recall for one's birthday I watched it on Wednesday. Taken from last year: And Eevil, great choice of quote for topic title. Although "see you at the party, Richter!" is probably better. I know it's a bit late, but happy now?

MoogleViper
Does it matter if he is or not? I don't think he ever intended to become Austria's answer to Marlon Brando. Well yes it does. If the acting is shit then it is most likely that the film is shit. His life story doesn't have anything to do with it.

That seems logical. If the ingredients of a cake are awful, the cake will most likely be awful, yes? But, this is not true. Ever heard of being unintentionally funny? Arnie's films always have terrific one liners. His action films are top class, and are sometimes over the top, but in a funny way. There's a chase scene in True Lies between a horse and a motorcycle that takes place in a hotel. Just wondering, what films of his have you seen? I'll have a think and post some more later. Conan is fantastic, good actions films they both are. Some of his very early work, but they're good fun. If you go into that just looking for some harmless fun, you'll have a great time. Total Recall has me in stitches every single time. I'm seriously shocked you don't like it, man. That last one is Jingle all the Way, it's good but not his best. Plus, it's got that fucking annoying Anakin Skywalker kid from Episode one. Prick! MoogleViper
You may as well say a top of the line Ferrari is a crap car because it has bad mileage. That's hardly comparable. I think Lada's are crap because they have shit engines. As FliNk said the actor is and ingredient to the film which is the cake. Total Recall is an OK film. But it's certainly nothing special. And I've heard people go on about how great an actor Arnie is.

Konfucius
What? no Hercules in new york? arnie at his best *cough* Oh yes, I have the DVD at home with Arnie's original voice (it was subbed for theatre release). I didn't watch the whole film though but fast forwarded to all the Arnie scenes. Brilliant. Total Recall is also a very awesome film. I mean Paul Verhoeven is one of my favourite directors and I saw hardly any bad Arnie action films (and I saw almost all of them) - and I'm not saying that because I'm Austrian as well. The thing is most of his movies are very violent and over the top, but Arnies "special" acting adds a certain comical element. For some reason I find it even believeable that he could take on Predator - how many actors would you believe that they could kill the Predator? Certainly not Danny Glover On another note a friend of mine's dad went to school with Arnold Schwarzenegger and he said that Arnie has been so insanely trained at the age of 17 already.
