Ramar Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Taking Riquelme off changed the game.. Bringing on Crouch changed the game. They were scared of him, they didn't know how to defend against his height. Owens first goal came because two men took Crouch which left Owen free at the back post. Fantastic game, fantastic result. This is what every friendly should be about, players should be proud to wear the shirt and go out to win. Good on England, and good on Sven for making the right decisions tonight.
Eddage Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 1-0 Argentina (crespo)That defending was terrible! Ferdinand is so shite they should of started with Sol ffs I hate Sven Bit harsh there that you single out Ferdinand there rather than Bridge, just because hes a United player methinks :p he couldn't really do anything about it as his momentum was taking him towards the goal. Overall it was an AMAZING game, couldn't believe Owen got those two goals, Beckham had a chance as well and Rooney's chip was brilliantly saved as were a number of Argentina's efforts. Definately the best friendly I have ever seen!
entropy Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 That was such an entertaining game! So many shots on goal. Rooney played well and could have had about 3 goals and Owen did well to get his 2 headers in the last 5 mins. Definitely the best friendly I can remember seeing.
|Laguna| Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Great great game, Beckham played well. Rooney was superb, get his cool too when we behind behind, he should scored at least twice, that chip was sumblime. I am sure that we will meet again in the world cup.
gaggle64 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 That was fabulous. Great performances from both sides. Owen really wuped arse, but for me, special mention has to go to both goalkeepers. They were fantastic! If it wern't for them the final score would probably be 13-12!
Guest DS MaNiAc Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Owen is a geordie That just prooves what a player he is
Stocka Posted November 12, 2005 Author Posted November 12, 2005 Owen is a geordie That just prooves what a player he is  Hehe, well I definately think his game has improved since he joined you.
uncle_buckman Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Taking Riquelme off changed the game.. So true. Argentina thought they had the game in their pockets. Taking off the best player on the night was a mistake. Gerrard is the man! I love this guy. What a match though.
demonmike04 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Ah well no comments about killing sven tommorow, but nice goals by the saviour known as Michael owen. I was expectin us to lose, but hey, we win, whats bad about that? :P Sven is slacking, i hope he is out before Germany 2006, or we'l be toast.
Guest DS MaNiAc Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 It was a great game, had me on the edge of me seat for the whole 90 mins! I think the Argie Bargies played a little better than us, but who cares
Misslock Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I'm glad we won Was a great come backup by england at the end
elniro Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Normally England games are so disappointin i dont bother watching but this match i think i should have watched. Oh well
gaggle64 Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 It games like this that make some of Englands other performances so disspointing. They've proven over and over again in games like this that they are a world-class, poptentially world-cup winning side, and when they don't show that it's always bitterly disspointing.
Platty Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 fantastic match, cant believe the ending, went a bit crazy, loved it, everyone played well for once and deserved to wear the England shirt.
|Laguna| Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Also important to note that we won without two our first defenders playing (cole + neville) Had Cole been playing we would never have conceded that first goal.
MoogleViper Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 I think England were slightly lucky because apart from the last 5 mins. Argentina was the better team IMO.
mike-zim Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 They are making a dvd of the game. calling it a classic. how can a friendly be a classic? i think it is wrong
Ramar Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Why can't a friendly match be a classic? It was a competitive match, played unlike many friendlies, and Sven's job was kind of on the line. I think making a DVD is too far, but it could be consider a classic match.
Noodleman Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I was expectin us to lose, but hey, we win, whats bad about that? :P Sven is slacking, i hope he is out before Germany 2006, or we'l be toast. So utterly wrong its unbelievable. If Sven were to go we have one more match before the world cup thats hardly enough time for whoever takes over to come in and get a feel for the players he wants to use.
mike-zim Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 So utterly wrong its unbelievable. If Sven were to go we have one more match before the world cup thats hardly enough time for whoever takes over to come in and get a feel for the players he wants to use. Sven hasn't got a feel for the players. he is crap. he inhereted probabley the most impressive squad in the world and what has he done? nothing. this england side is the best i have ever seen (born in 1982). and still we are lacking. all down to the manager IMO.
jayseven Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I hear that England are now 2nd favourite to lift the trophy next year. I'm not much of a football fan these days but I love the thrill of the tournaments and that's nice to know!
gaggle64 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Ya' know mike-zim, you've got a bizarrely negative attitude towards Sven. He's done some great work for England, and led the team to some fantastic victories. You surely wouldn't argue that the team hasn't improved, would you? You say Sven inherited a strong team. I disagree. Remember the days of Kevin Keagen? <shudders> Before Sven came along, England weren't given a snowballs chance of taking a trophy. These days they keep a spare bottle of brasso handy, just in case. I should hope they're a strong team - Sven built them that way.
