Biohazard: Degeneration is the first full-length CG animation feature based upon the Resident Evil series of games and films. It was announced by Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan on October 29, 2007. It is currently in production, with plans for a release in 2008.

The film will feature a "brand new storyline" set one year after RE4 and contains Leon (RE:2 & RE:4) and Claire (RE:2 & RE:CVX).

Jesus H Christ, this will surely make atonement for the travesty of the Hollywood trilogy.

I can't say for sure until I see moving footage but it doesn't look quite Spirits Within standards of animation but meh.

The film is set one year after Re4.

lol. People on other forums thinks it for the wii because of the screen. :heh:

Haha the fools.

Though this does look really cool. If Leons is in it like the screens show then i'll see it for sure. Resi 4 was my first Resi game so it's special to me :heh: So this being a year later makes me excited.

This has potential.

EDIT - Actually thinking about it, wonder if Capcom will make this a game and release it with the movie on the consoles, then it would be on the Wii and we get to play as Leon once more!

If you got the time you can read this about the Resident Evil series but not update with RE:UC info. (Only read RE1,2,3,CVX and 4.)

This movie is getting made by Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment

If this looks as good as FF Advent Children was then I've already wet myself.

phew, i read the title and thought "Oh crap, why would Hollywood green light a 4th film after the crap that was part 3"... honestly now, I thought the 1st movie was ok, since it didn't distort the mythology of the game too much and could be easily placed within the games mythology. The 2ns film obviously threw the mythology out the window and raped it... but when you think of it in terms of "talking place in a different universe" kinda thing (come now we should be used to this in animes by now anyway, Gundam? Tenchi?) it was half-decent. Part 3 i was hoping might be similar, and went in thinking "they've got Claire and Wesker, how could they possibly mess that up?", my god did they mess that up, not a mention of Leon, so the "Claire" character might as well of been someone else, Jill and the little girl from the 2nd film vanish with zero explanation, and Wesker appears in like 3 scenes and does NOTHING, how can you have the best character of the series and not use him?

*sorry, rant over*

Back on topic, CGI Film taking place after RE4, yay, it's promising that's certain, lets just hope it fills in some big plot holes that have been left in the road for way too long

And 2. And 1.

This could be another "Final Fantasy: Spirits Within".

*shudder*

Graphically I loved that film. The whole story baffled me.

My problem with these movies are, why bother CGing the whole thing when you could just as easily make a great live-action movie on the same budget? Look at Advent Children, some of the most realistic animation I've seen, but why not share some of that surely enormous budget around and scout out a decent set of actors and SFX artists instead?

Thankfully less baffling than Advent Children.

Actually that's true. I hadn't a clue what was happening in Advent Children.

There are all ready are live-action Resident Evil movies, they didn't live up to their full potential, plus i think using CGI would be cheaper than live action.

It's being true to the type of media that the fans came to love?

CGI demands computers and related artists, while a canny producer can create a great live action film on a shoestring. The Resident Evil movies had both the budget and the backing, but being written and directed by a man who thinks a Death Race 2000 sequel is a great idea, CGI or not, it never had potential. It's like being born with a genetic makeup that gives you six arms, three testicles and causes your head to explode on your 23rd birthday: It's not your fault, it's the sick twisted fuck who worked on you.
