dwarf Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Playing on a 21" box TV is so bad after coming off the 42" plasma beast. I suddenly have the urge to play Metroid Prime GC on there. Best game ever. What's Flower like Daft, I see you have been playing it?
Daft Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 What's Flower like Daft, I see you have been playing it? It's really chilled and enjoyable. It looks amazing. It's hard to describe beyond that. A must buy though. I found a flow cave painting while I was flying around. :p Can't wait to see what other people make of it.
Pantsu Man! Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Flower is a stunning game. A beautiful game, really relaxing. I got really into it acting like a child would be like playing with a toy plane, making whooshing noises myself as I titled the controller. I've done 2 levels now, I didn't even think it would have had anything beneath flying around and collecting petals but it does. Gem of a game.
Aimless Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 For some reason the Store has taken a sudden dislike to my debit card, despite it working flawlessly up until now. Anyone else had any issues with adding funds? I'm thinking it might be something at Sony's end. Bah, why today of all days?
Daft Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 That happened to me on the SingStar store a couple weeks ago. The main store still worked which was weird. It also happened to my friend on the main store. Not sure how he fixed it...maybe best to give Sony a quick call.
Pit-Jr Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Sony announced plans to release hybrid Blu-ray disc that contains both Blu-ray video and PlayStation 3 software. Director of PS3 hardware marketing said a lot of developers are looking to offer an entire movie and PS3 game on the same disc, and PSP would also factor into the proceedings, such as allowing to download and watch the film on PSP. Sony expects to have around 3 titles to ship in this new format this year. I wondered why they didnt do this for SFIV.....also... - EA announced GI Joe will be coming to PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, PSP and NDS in August 2008, which will based on an upcoming movie GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra from Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment. The game will have 12 playable characters and 2 player co-op mode. Now if they can hook me up with Thundercats and Voltron, my childhood trinity will be complete
Aimless Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 It also happened to my friend on the main store. Not sure how he fixed it...maybe best to give Sony a quick call. Heh, turns out I didn't have enough cash in my current account. I looked at my balance earlier and it was around £80, but upon closer inspection the available balance was nearer £4; I guess everyone decided to take money from me today. That said I'm not entirely sure that was the problem as if I try to enter my card details it claims they're invalid. They definitely are, but it's a bit of a moot point as apparently I'm locked out of adding funds for 24 hours anyway due to having more than four failed attempts. No Flower for me, it seems.
Daft Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Completed flower. T'was short but very sweet. It would be nice if they released more levels.
Daft Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 The last level is the best. Really amazing. It's a shame it is so short because the last level is just awesome and then it ends. I REALLY hope there is DLC.
canand Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I got to send my PS3 back they put a normal one in insted of a Blu Ray one.
kyletherobot Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Just been browsing through the 'coming soon' section of Play.com. And came across this....... Its released on Friday, but I can't find any previews/reviews. I suppose its going to be bad if the publisher is not releasing any info at all on the game. Ahhh, there is a review up of this now: Eurogamer review I'll be honest, I didn't read the actual review but the final score isn't too great.
Caris Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I got to send my PS3 back they put a normal one in insted of a Blu Ray one. canand why do you talk like a 10 year old?
MATtheHAT Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Ahhh, there is a review up of this now: Eurogamer review I'll be honest, I didn't read the actual review but the final score isn't too great. Oh dear, Eidos, what have you done? No wonder they kept it quiet.
Daft Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Does anyone know where the last secret flower is on the penultimate level (The dark power plant level) of flower is?
tapedeck Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 No Daft, no idea. Just finished Flower. Enjoyed every second of it, it's bloody sublime. Really want MORE now!
Daft Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 No Daft, no idea. Just finished Flower. Enjoyed every second of it, it's bloody sublime. Really want MORE now! Damn. I just need that last one. I think it unlocks something in the centre space... Driving me a bit barmy... I really would love some DLC for this. Maybe they could set it in a forest or something.
tapedeck Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I really would love some DLC for this. Maybe they could set it in a forest or something. Yeah, that would be good. There is so much scope with the premise. The final level was astounding. One of the best sheer 'fun' gaming experiences I've had in a while. I'd love to see this format for future flOw iterations. (underwater would work with this 3D Design - I could see it working well controlling a fish lol). I'd recommend this title to ALL PS3 owners. Makes you feel like a kid with a paper aeroplane or sommat.
Daft Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Found the last flower. I like the idea of making a new version of fl0w like flower. I'm annoyed it's so damn short...but it is damn good. Played it through twice now. Almost got the bloody Pure trophy but was randomly struck by lightening. I wasn't even smoking so I thought I might have got away with it.
Daft Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 When's GoW III meant to be out? Later this year? I think I'm going to try and avoid all media. Although I'm very likely to cave as usual.
Caris Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Just finished Resistance 2, awesome game really enjoyed it.
Diageo Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Fl0wer is brilliant. It is very unique. Going to jump back in later, makes you feel relaxed. Ofcourse if you are pinched for cash its up to you. But do check it out someday. Realtime trailer of God of War III: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/45513.html Enjoy. I was asking how much it is!
dwarf Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Resistance 2 Campaign: Was enjoyable, had cool looking stuff in it but the bosses were pretty much just glamour. However if you look past that then it was fun. Online is great.
dwarf Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 What about it? I was just about to make a thread about the direction that videogames are going in. But then I got confused and knew that if I posted it people wouldn't understand me properly. Here was what I was going to put: 'This year we will see the release of many videogame sequels of which almost all of them will have only minor changes to the way we play them. I don't want to have to buy games in which I know what to expect from them before I play them. I want something new. For me I think there needs to be a new genre or style of videogaming which retains the challenge of todays videogames but without it having to be based on the same controls as all the conventional games we have today. FPS is getting boring because in essence the controls are always the same - we need a different way of using the same buttons and sticks. So far the games are all very clear similar so the way we manipulate the games is becoming samey, and it doesn't help that the action on screen has barely changed either. I don't think the Wii has solved this problem either, because we still see games that are traditional in controls and appearance. For example could we use the Playstations analogues to not move a character or camera but instead use them for morphing a 3D world and using buttons to use specific actions which change this. Ok this is vague but it is different from the cystal clear X IS GO AND R1 FIRES THE GUN etc ' As I was writing I got mixed up with the topics and ideas I had so I havent made them into a thread but wandered if anyone could understand any of that. Bare in mind that I am still going to get Killzone etc but I'd say after another year or so of this there will need to be something other than the current game style.
