It's almost a year since I bought my last GC game (zelda) and now with crhistmas I want some more love to it :p

I have the chance to buy XG3 Extreme G Racing for 8€, but is it worth it? I have f-zero but it isn't my favourite game. Maybe too hard. And I remember playing XG2 in computer long time ago and was a good game at the time, so...anyone?

:)

PS: And we always comeback :)

Was that the 4 player f-zero clone or the 2-player one.. I think it's the four player one. It's supposed to be an underrated gem and one of aclaims last great games if i'm thinking of the right game.

For 8euro you can't go wrong.

I've got it. It was a launch game that I got with my Cube, along with Luigi's Mansion.

Bluddy loved it. :D

The game is fast. It is an F Zero clone, but I think its a lot more like Wipeout. There are weapons, but to be honest, they can be quite distracting.

The soundtrack is fantastic. Trance-y type music that really does suit the gameplay. Good level design.

Overall, I'd recommend it. :)

I got it on launch. I sold it soon after.

It's nothing compared to the first two.

I never got around to playing the first two. I only actually knew about the series through NOM, because they previewed XG3 months before the Gamecube's launch.

What's different between this and the first two?

The first two were very arcadey, and a lot faster. Weapons were pickups from the tracks and were fun to use.

Used to go too fast for me.... :(

There was also a cheat mode where you could make the first level of the game go insanely fast.

Fast as in absolutely impossibly to control. Finising a single lap was a mean feat. :D

XGIII was great, and smooth, and had nice music. My only gripe was at one stage the enemies discovered mines, and suddenly the difficulty hit a big spike. The cube version's the best, because of the notches on the controller for pushing up to lean forward accurately (ie without turning).

I'd recommend against XGRA tho: great looking game, excellent soundtrack, but random frame rate issues from hell which really ruin the flow. (The xbox version has the same frame rate issues btw).

I might actually look for this as I have great memories of it and the first two (which I should also look for).

I seem to remember putting cheats on the first one for infinite boost and you literally went through the track and scenery you went that fast which was more fun than it sounds.

I could never get into this game although I loved the previous ones on the N64. Suppose I was still spoilt by F-Zero X at the time which may have made me favour it less but I just found it a bit uninspiring.

So did you get the game in the end? What do you think of it?

I really enjoyed it but I had no desire to go back to it after F-Zero GX came out. I'd say it's definitely worth it for eight euros though.

I never played 3, but XGRA was possibly the most multiplayer fun to be had on the GC, when Smash Bros. and Timesplitters finally got dull.

I'm not being sarky, it really is a great game.

The choppy framerates didn't throw you off? I can imagine them being even worse in multiplayer...

It was great, I admit it. However, I think F ZERO GX pissed all over it in multiplayer.

If you want a good multiplayer Gamecube game, get Cel Damage. :D
