Goron_3 Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 LOL, it must be...If it is though, tbh I wouldn't buy a Rachet and Clank game. Yeah i meant rachet. My bad. Wow, you've given two decent exclusive games... I bash the PS3 because I don't think it has anything going for it. It's exclusives have been underwhelming, it's brought nothing new to gaming, it's over priced and some of it's highest scoring games are (worse) versions of multi-platform titles also appearing on the 360 (with superior online) and the PC. Motorstorm is a quality racing game. Ok, so you can argue that not many people like racing games but that ALSO means that you can't count metroid as a quality game seeing as barely ANYONE likes metroid. 2 decent exclusives on Wii. Erm well theres Metroid & Mario...and erm.....?
c0Zm1c Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I think lots of people like racing games. They must do, otherwise developers wouldn't keep making them. Metroid seems to have been quite a hit with many critics, but it wouldn't be the first game where their opinions and our's (the gamers) conflict. I'm under the impression that gamers do in general like Metroid though.
Fierce_LiNk Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 2 decent exclusives on Wii. Erm well theres Metroid & Mario...and erm.....? Zelda: Twilight Princess? Super Paper Mario? Trauma Centre? ExciteTruck? Mario Strikers Charged? Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronciles (not to mention the Wii edition of 4). There's plenty of decent games. That rather fell flat.
Goron_3 Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Zelda: Twilight Princess? Super Paper Mario? Trauma Centre? ExciteTruck? Mario Strikers Charged? Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronciles (not to mention the Wii edition of 4). There's plenty of decent games. That rather fell flat. *sigh* not this again. TP and Resi aren't exclusives (despite how amazing RE4 is ). All the other games aren't AAA titles at all. That said, they're all great fun yes.
c0Zm1c Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 You said 'decent' in your previous post. If they're 'great fun' then surely that means they're decent?
Goron_3 Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 You said 'decent' in your previous post. If they're 'great fun' then surely that means they're decent? Well what I'm saying is that whilst they're fun, they're not in the same league as Metroid and Mario, and games like Uncharted and Ratchet and clank (granted, mario is probs the best out of the lot). There is no such thing as 'the best console' nowadays. They're all great.
Coolness Bears Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Every Console has it's share of Great games and terrible games. Look at the DS on the one side of the spectrum you have Phoenix Wright and on the other side Wiffle Ball The same goes for all the latest consoles and i have played my fair share of games on each (except the PS3 ) Although there hasn't been many AAA games, there have been a load which have provided me with a lot of fun and that's what makes them great sometimes. I'm aware that Korarimpa is nowhere near galaxy in terms of quality but when playing it in multiplayer with a friend we were having a great laugh while playing and the Wii has this ability of getting some of my friends who'd be scared to pick up a 360 controller and play Wii Bowling with me. and beating me... I'm saying some games "quality" is being excessible and making people join in the fun, but in terms of actual quality i would like to see more from Nintendo next year and it looks as if it's going to be delievering with Smash Bros. I say there have been a few quality Wii games this year like Mario and Metriod and the rest have been fun with flaws. I haven't gone near any bad ones. Other mentions are Resi 4 which i had never played properly before and is now one of my favourite games and Zelda. Even though you can get them on the Cube, the controls are vastly improved and they feel like Wii games to me. Also Third Parties need to stop making these PS2 ports and Wii are set for a great year as It's gaining support! Guitar Hero 3 has just been released and No more Heroes is on it's way next Year. It hasn't had the Best of starts (except the best game of the year. :P) I feel things are improving and we will have Quality Wii games next year. :awesome:
killer kirby Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Well with MP3 and MG out now just as the Wii has been going for just a year, it's amazing the amount of games that are coming out within the couple of months ^_^
Zechs Merquise Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 I love the way the PS3 fans storm the forum to tell us all how we're missing outon 'greats' like ratchet and clank whilst we waste our time with a load of mini-game compilations. I don;t think the PS3 has a single exclusive game that averages over 90% on gamerankings. All the multi-platform releases also have lower average scores than their 360 counterparts. Interesting to say the least.
Noodleman Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Zelda: Twilight Princess? Super Paper Mario? Trauma Centre? ExciteTruck? Mario Strikers Charged? Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronciles (not to mention the Wii edition of 4). There's plenty of decent games. That rather fell flat. Paper Mario was boring, Mario strikers was shit in single player both hardly decent.
Zechs Merquise Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Paper Mario was boring, Mario strikers was shit in single player both hardly decent. Super Paper Mario has an average score of 85.3% (85%) Mario Strikers Charged has an average of 79.7% (80%) Both are more than decent, I'd say good games. Motorstorm has an average of 82.6% (83%) Drake's has an average of 88.8% (89%) R&C has an average of 89.1% (89%) So as you can see, you can't come on here saying that games on the PS3 like the above are must haves that we should all go out and buy a PS3 for then discount games like the Paper Mario as 'boring'. It stills holds true that not ONE PS3 exclusive has an average score of over 90%. In it's first year, the PS3 has FAILED to have a single piece of exclusive software that stands out as a 90%+ game (must have). What is also more damning is that PS3 multiplatform games in all cases that I have seen have been scored lower than their XBOX 360 counterparts. So not only does the PS3 not have any killer exclusives, it also has the inferior versions of the multi-platform games. The above are factual points based on the AVERAGE scores of games from the gamerankings site, which as we all know presents the average scores based on press reviews. This is however my opinion: The Wii has had a cracking first year. It has sold far in excess of even Nintendo's expectations. It has had three AAA exclusives, Zelda, Metroid and Mario. It has also seen other very good gams like Paper Mario, Mario Strikers, RE:UC, RE4, Trauma Centre, Battalion Wars, Ghost Squad, Guitar Hero III, Medal of Honour, Super Monkey Ball, SSX, Scarface, Manhunt 2, Geometry Wars, Fire Emblem and Zack and Wiki. I'm pretty sure others will add to this list. So why the hate?
c0Zm1c Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Regardless of the scores, I would count Motorstorm as a must-have. It does have its problems, overuse of the same courses to extend the single-player, annoying load times (particularly for the vehicle selection screen), and I think the vehicles could have done with a bit more balancing (particularly for online play). But inspite of that it really is a brilliant racing game.
McPhee Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Super Paper Mario has an average score of 85.3% (85%)Mario Strikers Charged has an average of 79.7% (80%) Both are more than decent, I'd say good games. I'd doubt i'd be disappointed if i owned a PS3: Call Of Duty 4 Oblivion Ratchet & Clank Uncharted Resistance Ninja Gaiden Sigma GRAW 2 Virtua Fighter 2 Skate. NHL08 Rainbow 6: Vegas Warhawk GHIII Fight Night Round 3 DiRT NBA Street Homecourt Motorstorm Madden NFL08 Assassin's Creed Fifa 08 Tiger Woods 07 NBA 2K7 The Darkness Heavenly Sword Call Of Duty 3 Virtua Tennis 3 26 games all scoring averages of above 80%. If the question is quality, the PS3 hardly lacks it. It's missed that 'must have' system selling title and this has affected sales, but i'd find it very difficult to say the Wii had a better year. It's games seem to go from 'must have' to 'rather average' with not a lot in between.
Caris Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Exactly, and the PS3 Destroys the 360 and Wii for exclusives in 2008.
Cube Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Exactly, and the PS3 Destroys the 360 and Wii for exclusives in 2008. Huh? All I see is MGS4. Which looks OKish.
killer kirby Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 I'd doubt i'd be disappointed if i owned a PS3: Call Of Duty 4 (Got) Oblivion (Got) Ratchet & Clank (Meh) Uncharted (Never heard of it) Resistance (Would buy) Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Rather have Ninja Gaiden 2) GRAW 2 (Not interested) Virtua Fighter 2 (don't you mean 4 :P ) Skate. (Hate skating games) NHL08(Don't want) Rainbow 6: Vegas(Could get on 360) Warhawk(Looks good, but looks like a game I would only rent) GHIII(Get on 360) Fight Night Round 3(Not interested) DiRT(Not interested) NBA Street Homecourt (Not interested) Motorstorm(I game I would buy but have the feeling I would play it for half an hour and then it collects dust for the rest of it's life) Madden NFL08(No thankyou) Assassin's Creed(Can get on 360) Fifa 08(Not interested) Tiger Woods 07(Not interested) NBA 2K7(Not interested) The Darkness(Might look into it) Heavenly Sword(Heard it really didn't live up to it's expectation) Call Of Duty 3(Wouldn't bother) Virtua Tennis 3(Wouldn't bother) 26 games all scoring averages of above 80%. If the question is quality, the PS3 hardly lacks it. It's missed that 'must have' system selling title and this has affected sales, but i'd find it very difficult to say the Wii had a better year. It's games seem to go from 'must have' to 'rather average' with not a lot in between. It all really comes down to taste really, if people want to play something that looks stunning and looks like it's real life etc etc... then get a PS3 or 360, but for people such as I am satisfied enough with the Wii and the DS, both lineups look great and I am looking forward to them Huh? All I see is MGS4. Which looks OKish. And that was supposed to be out this year as well
Caris Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Huh? All I see is MGS4. Which looks OKish. MGS4 Final Fantasy Final Fantasy Versus Little Big Planet Tekken Gran Turismo Haze Killzone 2 God of War III Resistance 2 White Knight Story Socom 3 The Getaway Infamous All of these games are only for PS3, these are not including games like GTA, DMC etc. And even though it isn't really a game, Home is out in spring which will be huge.
McPhee Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 That is a pretty scary list tbh. I swear theres something missing from it, just can't remember what...
Goron_3 Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Zechs, you bash the ps3 for not having any 90%+ games and claim that they are all 80% games, yet you then list two 80% wii games. You're arguments are inconsistant. All consoles have a great year. The only difference is the Wii has already used it's big guns (bar Smash).
killer kirby Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 You don't know if Final Fantasy XIII (And Versus) will be even out next year, with little information there is on the game I would think it will be out in 2009 tbh
Caris Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 You don't know if Final Fantasy XIII (And Versus) will be even out next year, with little information there is on the game I would think it will be out in 2009 tbh http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=113308
McPhee Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Caris, that just says it won't be out until after the end of March. 2009 is still after the end of March Still, nobody knows when FFXIII is due out, could well be Christmas next year though. Either that or Easter 09, can't see it being any later and it's too important a game not to be released in a holiday season.
Caris Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 It says the earliest will be spring 08, i'm pretty sure it will be out some time next year. Even if it's not look at all the other games!
c0Zm1c Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Heavenly Sword(Heard it really didn't live up to it's expectation) It really didn't. If it wasn't for my being stupid enough to buy Transformers: The Game, Heavenly Sword would be the worst game I've played this year. Little Big Planet is the obvious one, I'm really looking forward to that, and I'll probably get Killzone 2 as well. The Wii aside, I hate playing shooters on a console, but since the game is never going to come to the Wii or the PC what choice do I have if I want to play it? Most of the other games listed I have on the PC or I'm not interested in, so yeah I think it does boil down to taste.
dazzybee Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 I just don't think that PS3 list is that impressive and a lot of those games are for Wii and 360 - we can all produce lists out of our arse, we could provide a list for Wii that is llonger than that! We clearly all have different tastes and I don't think we can convince each other otherwise, personlly, the Wii is a great system and had a great year - infintely better than PS3 and way better than 360's first; but that isn't the case for everybody, clearly, but for me the Wii has had an amazing virtual console lineup, smashing xbox's easily and well PS3's hasn't really took off yet. That is a one BIG plus for Wii, they're mindless extras but I have loved the Mii, Forecast, Vote and and now the vote mii chanels, great FREE extras. The games, here's why I have loved the Wii. Solo games: AAA's Zelda, in my ooinion it is better than Wind Waker and yes even the almighty Ocarina, for me, it's the best Zelda ever. Not a bad start. Metroid, again the best Metroid ever, better than Prime 1 and better than prime 3. Also, as everyone also says - the BEST controls for a console FPS - it is just amazing. Super Mario Galaxy - the best game ever!!!!!!! No need to say more. For me, these 3 games are better than ANYTHING on the 360 or PS3. Other great solo player games: Super Paper Mario SSX Blur (best SSX game ever BECAUSE of the controls) Eledees Resident Evil 4 (best version of the game) Scarface - normally generic, but the CONTROLS raise it to a great little game Guiatr Hero 3 Trauma Centre Excite Truck Multiplayer Games: Wii Sports Mario Strikers Wario Ware Big Brain Academy Mario and Sonic Olympics Fifa 08 - best Fifa since Fifa 96 (fr its time) BECAUSE of the controls Rayman Raving Rabbids Madden 07 (controls) Toer Woods (controls) Special mention Endless Ocean - an amazing experience Kororinpa - not ana amzing single player, not an amazing multiplayer, but there's something about it that I LOVE (PS BECAUSE of the controls) On top of this I love the Wii because my girlfriend loves the Wii. And my family plays the Wii. and our friends who dont play vdieogames love the Wii. And our friends who dont play videogames love the Wii. PS And in the future when 3rd parties start REALLy utilising the Wii, then fuck me are things going to get good!!!!
