Exactly. Second highest grossing film of all time. Because of the effects? The story? Fuck no, its the cast, (admitadly Heaths death is a large factor) but still.

Their naivity (sp...lol) really....it infuriates me.

Erm...the "story" in TDK is excellent. Intriguing and well-crafted. So that is a factor to it's success. :P

Personally I don't really care about Ledger or Bale. I did actually watch for the story.

(although I'd admit I'm probably in the minority)

Fo sho. I'm not saying no-one watched it for the story, but the reason for the record breaking wasn't the story.

Anyway.....arguing with Paj is wearing really thin. ;)

Hardly arguing. I see an arguement as actually being really heated. We're just expressing our lovely viewpoints.

Seems there's gonna be a Tomb Raider... rebootbc3.jpg

Tomb Raider Reboot

New Lara Croft movie greenlit by Warner Bros.

UK, January 28, 2009 - Two days after rumours hit the net that Megan Fox was being lined up to replace Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft, (gossip that admittedly came from a somewhat unreliable source), the altogether more trustworthy Hollywood Reporter is running a story about a big screen reboot of the video-game franchise.

According to the trade mag, Warner Bros. and producer Dan Lin are in early development on the project. Lin cut his teeth with films such as The Departed as well as forthcoming projects Sherlock Holmes and Terminator: Salvation.

Studio Paramount made the previous two Jolie-starring instalments Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, but let the rights lapse, meaning they have now reverted to game Publisher Eidos. When Warner upped their stake in the publisher in December, the film rights were part of the deal.

Apparently the new film will "re-imagine" the origins of the iconic archaeologist, as well as her love interest, and the chief villain.

Warner Bros. will now begin looking for a writer, a director and of course a star to play Lara (will it be Fox?), so stay tuned to IGN for all the latest updates on this movie!

Megan Fox could be an alright choice, though I'm not really sure how good an actress she is yet; she's never played a leading role.

Also... gorgeous... yes! though her boobs aren't the classic Lara Croft big! but then maybe they'll try and move away from the big boobs image with the new film!

Megan Fox has already said she won't be playing Lara Croft, or she at least hasn't been offered the role yet.

And I think Mickey Rourke will take a lower fee for Iron Man 2, not $250,000 but it won't be an astronomical fee. The guy is just happy to be respected again and to be working regularly, he knows he hasn't made it all the way back yet. Despite all the praise he has recieved for The Wrestler, he still needs to work hard and he understands that, the big money will come again for him but he needs to put in a few more top drawer performances first.

Tbh, I know I said it's worth paying out for great actors and it is, but also actors are greedy fucks if they don't consider $250,000 a good fee.

I mean realistically, come on! Even $100,000 for 4-5 months work is an incredible amount of money.

I know the rich and famous have this 'lifestyle' to uphold in this day and age, but honestly I think it would show a better side to them if they did do the work for a more reasonable amount of money.

Really why should Samuel L Jackson get $1 million or whatever he's expecting! He should get more out of being in such a film and making everyone who watches it enjoy it!

Pics of Soundwave from TF2 (The Toy anyway)

http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=24073

But if thats what he's like in the movie...No, jsut No, a jet? We got Starscream for that, Soundwave needs to be a Tape Player/MP3/CD player/music device of any kind.

Huh? Wasn't he already in the first one as a CD player thing?

Bloody Disgusting reported it weeks ago, Variety confirms it tonight: there's going to be a new The Thing, and it's written by Battlestar Galactica's Ronald D. Moore and directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr., a commercial director who's been attached to direct Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead for a little while.

This film will be a prequel to the John Carpenter version, but will apparently rely heavily on Who Goes There?, the short story upon which the original film was based. Still, the basic idea sounds pretty similar, except that this film will be set in the ruined Norwegian base that we see at the beginning of Carpenter's classic. Apparently the main character will be McReady's brother - I guess he didn't know his bro was at that base? Weird.

If there's a film less necessary than this one, I can't think of it. The idea of telling the story of the Norwegian base just seems... dull. We know how it turns out, unless the action at the base is just like act one, and then things go somewhere new. But even that feels lame. It's not that I'm against a remake of The Thing (it's a remake itself) or a continuation or something, but this one just feels like some shitty comic book tie in as opposed to a story that needed to be told.

A new Tomb Raider film would be welcome in my book. The second one was a bit of fun, but with a decent reboot, it could be a lot better.

I hope Megan Fox isn't her though. Too slutty/young/sex object looking. Lara needs to be a bit more..mature, imo. More like Kelly Brook, than Megan Fox. If you get me.

Yeah, she needs to be a bit of a MILF in my opinion.

You don´t become an archaeologist/whatever she is in your early 20´s

That's why I think Angelina worked in a way. She was felt a bit off as Lara, except for the fact she seemed worldly and knowing, essential in my book.

If I wanted to see Megan Fox in a vest, I'd just watch Transformers. Oh wait, It's shit, so I won't.

Erm....I agree that Megan isn't right for the role, but I think thats because shes too young. Not too slutty/sex object.

Thats....what....Tomb Raider is.....she one of the most, if not the most purely made for sex to sell something fictional character ever. (Because Angelina is not slutty?) ::shrug:

Or just watch Jennifers Body, which is all about how hot and naked she is.

I just imagine Megan Fox dressed as her, and I may as well be watching some porno of something. It's her face. She has a porn star face. Fine in porn, but it doesn't work for Laaaaaara.

Is that a reference to the song of the same name? (By Hole) *looks up*

Nah, that was Frenzy, Soundwave was going to be in the first but they dropped him last minute I think or halfway through.

God my flatmate sounds like a cat.

I think they should go the whole hog and cast someone who isn't stunningly beautiful as Lara Croft. The rumour is that they're going to make it darker, with the film beginning with her having a back street abortion when she was 16.

I only watched the dark knight for the return of the Joker, regardless of who was playing him, he's one of the best villains in any movie ever.

Anywho...

Anyone watched Taken? I love it lol

WALL-E got completely snubbed at the 36th Annual Annie Awards. For those of you who don’t know, the Annie Awards is an all-animation award show presented by the International Animated Film Association, ASIFA-Hollywood since 1972. The awards range form Character Animation in a Feature Presentation to Production Design in an Animated Feature Production, the the more obvious, more prestigious Best Animated Feature award.

DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda beat WALL-E in every single category, including Best Animated Feature, Animated Effects, Character Animation, Directing in an Animated Feature, Production Design, Storyboarding, and Voice Acting categories. WALL-E didn’t even receive nominations in the Writing, Music, and Character Design categories. In Fact, Kung Fu Panda ended up taking home 15 statues in all (including the short film spin-off). Now I understand that Kung Fu Panda completely surprised everyone. It’s an awesome movie, no question about it. But the story is essentially a paired down version of Star Wars, the supporting voice acting is passable at best, and some of the character designs are just sloppy.

I’m sure the commentators will just write my rant of as being a WALL-E/Pixar fanboy (which I’ll freely admit). But I think everyone will agree that an award show for animation (the Annies are basically consider the Oscars of animation) to award Kung Fu Panda a whopping 15 statues, and present WALL-E with not even one, is completely ridiculous. You can read the full list of results can be found here.

Best Animated Video Game: Kung Fu Panda – Activision*

Dead Space – Electronic Arts
