david.dakota Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 With the Wii snapping at the heals of the XBox 360 in terms of unit sales figures, i'm wondering if Wii could see a version of RE5. RE4 seems to have some great sales figures, and to me it doesn't too dificult to think Capcom could port the game to Wii with extra waggle - certainly RE5 does not seem to do that much more than RE4. Your opinions?
Tellyn Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Dear lord please change the thread title, I almost had a heart attack. Capcom have said that they don't want to put 5 on the Wii, I think we're more likely to see remakes with added waggle.
EchoDesiato Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 It'd be too much work to downgrade to the Wii. They succeeded in downgrading RE4 to the PS2, but this time the difference in graphical prowess is too big. My money's on RE5: Waggle Edition on the Wii2.
Dante Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Sigh! Just buy a xbox360 or a PS3 in the year 2009.
Mr.X Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 They have said though that if RE:UC and RE4 for wii sell well enough, they may re-imagine RE0,1,2, and 3 to be like RE4 on the wii.
Gizmo Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 I doubt Resi5 will appear for the Wii, but remakes of early games with Wii controls seems an almost certainty to follow UC.
Speedfreak Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 I'd much rather play remakes that play like RE4: Wii Edition than RE5 anyway. I just can't go back to thumbsticks and you can't make me!
Zechs Merquise Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 There's no reason why they couldn't build a version of this on the RE4 engine. After all, we did see RE on the DS! Unit sales and Wii popularity will be the deciding factor.
Fierce_LiNk Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Most Wii Owners own a 360 and PS3 as well Whoa whoa whoa, easy tiger. Don't go jumping to conclusions there.
Guest Jordan Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Hmm. Its possible, but incredibly tough. The animations, AI, textures, lighting, shaders, amount of characters on screen, viewing distance etc would pretty much have to be cut down like a tree for it to even run.
EchoDesiato Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Most Wii Owners own a 360 and PS3 as well, so who the fuck would want to play the dumbed down version after playin the Next gen version that has some of the best visuals ever? In terms of visuals, yes, the Wii version would be dumbed down, lots. And maybe some loss in AI, and other cpu demanding stuff. But in terms of controls, I'd much rather play it with the Wii controls seen in RE4 Wii Edition. That would be better than the so called "next gen" version in my opinion. That still doesn't stop me from wanting money to get a 360 along with this game, though. Whoa whoa whoa, easy tiger. Don't go jumping to conclusions there. Seconded.
immy Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 The 360 will be cheap when resident evil 5 comes out so whats the point?
Fierce_LiNk Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Ok that might be a bit off Fiercy, but Resident Evil 5 will sell both consoles and alot of the more hardcore gamers own 1 next gen console and a Wii too as more of a seperate fun console.... So will they really wanna step down? I agree that the Wii controls are better for Resi, but the gamecube controls were pretty fantastic too. I can deal with the 360 controller for Resident Evil tbh Well, it was more than a bit off. But, who knows how the game would even play if it did get created for the Wii. They wouldn't have to neccessarily port it over and scale things down. I'd much rather see them take a bash at creating things from fresh, but there's fat chance of that happening! Still, I wouldn't mind a REmake of Resi 2, with Wii controls. Sorta like REmake on the Cube, but even better.
immy Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Still, I wouldn't mind a REmake of Resi 2, with Wii controls. Sorta like REmake on the Cube, but even better. Yeah that would be awesome.

Something like Zack and Wiki, yanno. See this is where Wii fans get me, they complain about ports and whatever, but then cry for a dumbed down, lesser-quality port of Resident Evil 5. Wouldn't you much rather Wii gets some of it's own franchises from third parties, the sort that can be compared to the like of Resident Evil?
IMJ Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 As much as I'd love to see RE5 on Wii, i really dont see it making. Same goes for MSG4 btw. Wii is a totally different beast than the 360/PS3. Dumbing down graphics an performance is on thing, but those complex calculations (assuming they'll send hordes of different looking enemies at you all at once) just wouldnt be possible. Besides, releasing a version Wii just will have everybody compare it the other versions. However, I do think we'll see more RE after RE:UC has been released. RE4 Wii already proved there's an audience for it. It's already on track to meet and exceed their expectation (420 K worldwide). Hopefully Nintendo will help push RE:UC heavily along with the Zapper (and Sega's Ghost Squad as well). A remake of previous games with the RE4 engine and style of play would be awesome. I'd love it. Yet, how many remakes will they have us eat? The original game has been remade so many times. Ignoring the ports, these were the main versions: PS, Cube, DS.
Mokong Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Ok that might be a bit off Fiercy, but Resident Evil 5 will sell both consoles People did also think the same of RE4 and the GameCube
killer kirby Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 IMO the Wii will get another brand new RE game, thats kinda like Code Veronica, so what I mean is is that We will get a game thats part of the main story but it just won't have a number after RE :P
Goron_3 Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Won't happen. Graphics aren't the only problem; AI scripts will be too hard for the wii to handle and you'd probs have less bad guys on screen too.
Mikey Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Rather have an entire new Resi game build from the ground up specifically for the Wii.
Petey Piranah Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Simple solution. Don't buy the game in the first place, that'll make em' think twice about boycotting Nintendo home consoles if the demand is less than desired... Average reviews compared to the all time great Resident Evil 4 would also be handy as well...
Cube Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 TBH, I don't really care. I'd rather have an exclusive game. I loved RE4, but RE5 just has nothing that interests me - the gameplay "enhancements" sound annoying and I'm not keen on it's looks, either (sure, it technically is great..but something just looks wrong)
seamus_aran Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Remake RE2,3 on Wii please. Then see about CV, 1 and 0. By the time they're done, the Wii2 should be out.
Petey Piranah Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 There is one thing that is absolutely certain and i'm willing to put ten thousand pounds on this very fact. There is no way RE5 will surpass the critical acclaim received by the legendary Resident Evil 4, arguably the best game of the new millenium (next to Metroid Prime). ABOVE STATEMENT IS "NOT" LEGALLY BINDING!
