Charlie Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 The release date is getting closer and closer, and personally, I can't wait. I'm going to the midnight launch in town with a friend and his mum. My local co-op is actually opening at midnigth too but I had already ordered from Waterstones before I knew that, and at any rate, there will be loads of chavs around the place whereas Waterstones is in a shopping centre. I still think Dumbledore is going to return in the 7th novel in the form of a painting and will still play a main part in it. Harry will have a hell of a time trying to track down the rest of the Horcruxes, I believe that one of them is the item from No. X Grimmauld Place that *someone* (who I can't remember his name) sold when he stole stuff from the house. I wouldn't be surprised if Harry died right at the end, Rowling said she was crying when she wrote the final chapter and I think that is the reason why. I also think that another major character is going to die as she also said on Jonathan Ross on Friday night that she was crying a few chapters before the end. I reckon this person could be someone like Molly Weasley, she's been so nice to Harry and actually plays a big part in the story although it doesn't seem like that. So, who else is getting excited? edit - I should add, any comments about Harry Potter being bad will be deleted and infracted. I'll leave The Bard's as an example of a shitty comment. Constructive comments only please.
Cube Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 I've read them all so far.. ...I don't really give a damn about what happens next, I'll probably pass on this book.
chairdriver Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 I am UBER excited. My thoughts on the book: R.A.B. is Regulus Black, Sirius' brother, and he made Kreacher drink the liquid that weakened Dumbledore (it has been said House Elf magic is stronger tahn wizard) and it drove him crazy. At the start of book 5 we hear about an amulut in 5 Grimauld Place, which is obviously the Horcrux they went to find at the end of book 6. I beleive Harry (or his scar) is a horcrux, and to kill Voldemort, Harry must die himself (that makes it easy for Rowling - she can kill off both characters with one stone). I also beleive Neville will be a MASSIVE part of the final book. He has always just been THERE throughout the series, almost waiting for something to happen to him. Of course there was the whole prophecy business, which suddenly threw Neville into the limelight, and I reckon we'll be seeing more of him. I hope Luna Lovegood gets a big part again. Favourite character. I love her, like crazy and fun. What else? I hope Snape isn't evil. I've always trusted Dumbledore that he's a changed man, and I think hes a great character. Being ambiguously evil is more fun than actually being evil. So yeah, I'm UBER excited.
Charlie Posted July 8, 2007 Author Posted July 8, 2007 I've always thought that Snape might die to save Harry, it turns out that Snape killed Dumbledore who died to save Harry. I'm still not sure about Snape. I thought that about Harry's scar too (well not about the scar in particular), that he would have to die in order to kill Voldemort.
welsh_gamer Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 I am very excited. Think I am going to to go my 24 hour Tesco to get the book at midnight. Had considered going to a party at Waterstones, but think I'm a bit too old for that I think Snape is good, and that Ron, Hermione or Hagrid will defintley die. If Harry does indeed die, perhaps he will fall into the world that was behind the veil, and therefore be reunited with Sirius.

I also thought of this-weird . . . Can't wait listening to the books atm in aticipation
Oxigen_Waste Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 None of you is pondering on the "The prophecy is about Snape" hypothesis, then?
chairdriver Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 None of you is pondering on the "The prophecy is about Snape" hypothesis, then? This is the first I've heard about this... Tell me more.

Zell Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Ron better fuck Hermione, I wanna see Emma Watson nude in the 7th film.
chairdriver Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Ron better fuck Hermione, I wanna see Emma Watson nude in the 7th film. Lolzness. :awesome:
Oxigen_Waste Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 I read about that somewhere before too! Please tell us more! Well... read the prophecy, it's very simple: It can either reffer to: a) Potter, obviously b) Neville c) Snape. I mean, think about it, he was born in late summer, he was unexpected, because voldie thought he was on his side... AND he was approaching (behind the door) when the prophecy occurred. It's very much possible that the prophecy reffers to him.
Guest Stefkov Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 I've totally forgotten everything about the latest books, actually everything from the 5th book onwards, the movie has me thinking what was that when something came up. But I'll be getting this no doubt. I remember readin somewhere that Kreacher plays a big role in the book. They were going to cut him out of the 5th movie but Rowling came along and said you want to add him in, he's got a big role in the final book so you won't want some confused faces when Kreacher comes in and does something so suddenly. Or thereabouts. I'll have to read the other books before I read the final one I think. Or just the 5th and 6th to get up to speed.
Oxigen_Waste Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches. born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies . and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not . and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives . the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies." "mark him as his equal"... Snape was a death eater remember? ... the mark.

"mark him as his equal"... Snape was a death eater remember? ... the mark. Yeah, but the Death Eaters aren't equal. Voldy treats them like shit... It could be Neville, his "mark" was that his parents were put into hospital and became insane. Neville's birthday is mentioned a few times in the series aswell.
Oxigen_Waste Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Yeah, but the Death Eaters aren't equal. Voldy treats them like shit... It could be Neville, his "mark" was that his parents were put into hospital and became insane. Neville's birthday is mentioned a few times in the series aswell. That's dumb... Voldermort may treat them like shit, but they're the only ones he calls companions. Plus, it's always been pointed out that he had a "special" relationship" with Snape, for he was perhaps his most tallented ally. I'm not saying snape is "the one", but admit it, he could very well be him. EDIT: IS IT TOO OBVIOUS THAT HE'S MY FAV CHARACTER? ... hope not.
Charlie Posted July 8, 2007 Author Posted July 8, 2007 Ron better fuck Hermione, I wanna see Emma Watson nude in the 7th film. I don't think Watson is doing any films after the 5th one... Shame. Although maybe she'll join Radcliffe and appear nude on the West End theatres... We can hope. I hadn't heard that about Snape before it sounds very interesting and could well be right. Maybe Rowling is trying to throw us off his trail by giving us all the clues about Neville and Harry. It was Dumbledore who told us about the prophecy and obviously he wouldn't know that stuff about Snape...
chairdriver Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 I only liked Snape after having seen the first film. Alan Rickman as Snape is the best cast character is any film I have seen in a long time. He gets the character completely spot on. You can't decide whether he is evil or not.

Marshmellow Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 I'm semi-excited about the upcoming book. I was not really happy at all that Dumbledore died... Especially by Snape's hand... But I've waited this long to finally finish the series might as well read it... Only problem is, somebody said they would buy it for me but they'll only give it to me when I visit them... So I can either wait a month and get it free, or buy it now for $18 not sure really if its worth it or not.

EEVILMURRAY Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Personally I'm not that bothered, I'll read it. A few days after the release, as my brother [who has them all] will lock himself in his room and read it quickly. I also loved the news article I read about JK crying as she came to the last few chapters, boo fucking hoo, feed the crack habit another way. However, I bet she'll milk the enterprise by making a shitload of other stories, Voldemort - The early years and shit like that. I still think my ending is the best ever.
