FalcoLombardi Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Theres no way I'm going through 181 pages to find out who all has been posted. But my most listened to bands recently have been: Angels and Airwaves The Matches The Bravery
Dan_Dare Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 quick FYI guys: got my mitts on a promo copy of Hot Chip's latest, Made in The Dark if ears could have sex, this would be a threesome with Uffie and Debbie harry (in her prime, obviously)
The Bard Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 The Bravery are an awful attempt to rip off Joy Division. Also: Scream bloody Gore, or Scavenger of Human Sorrow?
Dan_Dare Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 the bravery sound nothing like joy division...
Oxigen_Waste Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 The Bravery are an awful attempt to rip off Joy Division. Also: Scream bloody Gore, or Scavenger of Human Sorrow? If it's album vs song, Scream Bloody Gore, if it's song vs song, Scavenger Of Human Sorrow. the bravery sound nothing like joy division... Listen to Honest Mistake. The singer sounds just like Ian.
The Bard Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Ok then, how about The Sound of Perseverance vs Scream Bloody Gore? :p. Man...Chucks version of Painkiller is so kickass. <3
jayseven Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Listen to Honest Mistake. The singer sounds just like Ian. Lies :P That is all.
Sanchez Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 They have 4 albums, not 3. And then there's The Rescue EP. So I'd say you don't have a complete collection. Anyway, yes, they are fantastic... and I'm enraged that I've never got to see them live... fucking shitty country. I already owned their other album and the rescue ep. :p
Oxigen_Waste Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Lies :P That is all. No they aren't. Listen to when he sings that "my old friend" line... it's Ian Curtis.
Dan_Dare Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 but you're still comparing fairly light american electro rock to despair ridden, post punk from Manchester. thed tone's all different, the pace, feel and, lets be honest, quality, just aren't the same.
Oxigen_Waste Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 but you're still comparing fairly light american electro rock to despair ridden, post punk from Manchester. thed tone's all different, the pace, feel and, lets be honest, quality, just aren't the same. That's a given... I'm just saying, he emulated Ian quite well. He still sucks, though.
Paj! Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Two things - Why is Scouting For Girls self titled album number one in the charts? Both their songs are even more annoying than me. I want to go into a blind rage everytime I hear them. Also, I just realised (though it's probably just me) that 'Voodo Child' sounds vaguely blondie like - and it's got me listening to their greatest hits. (Blondies) Blondie are awesome. I'd recommend their most recent album, Curse Of Blondie. It's not classic like their old stuff, but it's still pretty good. Deborah Harry's new album is disturbing however.
chairdriver Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I bought "Never Said Goodbye" by Cerys Matthews and "If It Was You" by Tegan and Sara (which I already have by downloading, but I couldn't say no to £3, plus I love having the real CD case to hold). I'm listening to Cerys Matthews for the first time, and all I can say at the moment is that its alot less rocky than Catatonia, and I've yet to determine whether or not that's a good thing...
Davey_T Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 It's alright I thought that too when I read it Right now I'm back into listening to rise against..they were quite amazing live. Where/When did you go see them? Clearly awesome
The Bard Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 but you're still comparing fairly light american electro rock to despair ridden, post punk from Manchester. thed tone's all different, the pace, feel and, lets be honest, quality, just aren't the same. That, of course, was the whole point. The tone is different, but the Joy Division "influence" is still overbearing and it just sounded like a total ripoff to me, especially as what they were trying to do besides that wasn't particularly credible on it's own anyway. So...you like Nevermore? I like Nevermore. Apart from the god appalling vocals.
Paj! Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I wish Tori Amos/Bjork released normal CD singles. By popular demand, Bjork releasing in Ltd editions, but that's hardly the same.
chairdriver Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I just heard Fighter by Christina Aguilera on the radio and I'd forgotten how much I love this song. I don't understand why she didn't do more songs like this. It actually puts her powerful voice to good use.
Gizmo Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Two things - Why is Scouting For Girls self titled album number one in the charts? Both their songs are even more annoying than me. I want to go into a blind rage everytime I hear them. Because angsty teenage girls of low intelligence (of which there are many) seem to enjoy crap music.
chairdriver Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 My dad likes Scouting For Girls, which I thought was funny. The last album he bought was by Juliet Turner (which I think is quite funny aswell) and the last single was Hey Ya! by OutKast. Parents are weird like that.
AshMat Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Three should be a "Best of generic Indie band riding off the success of Arctic monkeys and other similar bands" CD. Shite including Scouting for girls The Wombats The Hoosiers The Kooks Please, add more.
Calza Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Yeah I make it a regular event that I have to annoy my dad because he bought Eminem's greatest hits. He does actually have some decent music taste so it annoys me even more.
ipaul Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Can anyone reccomend me some good electronica, similar to the likes of Kid A and Amnesiac. Names of albums in particular as well as artists if anyone can reccomend any
