mcj metroid Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Are there any words slang or whatever that people in your area use the whole time annoy you? A lot of irish people use the word UNREAL to describe something amazing 'That film was Unreal' I also find using the word gay as a common slag is annoying. I'll think of more Any examples of ones that annoy you?
Nintendork Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 The War Against Terror I don't quite see the point of this thread- if you are the kind of person who hears or reads something, and then thinks- "Hey, that's annoying". Then why would you want to start or read a thread that consolidates other things that might annoy you? It can only annoy you more so, it's like you're torturing yourself.
Zygo Ape Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 "Braaat, Braaat" (whilst holing hand in the shape of a gun, imitating they are "bustin a cap in yo ass") Although i use this frequently as a form of insult against chavs.
Dyson Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 "Braaat, Braaat" (whilst holing hand in the shape of a gun, imitating they are "bustin a cap in yo ass") Although i use this frequently as a form of insult against chavs. You mean BRRRRRAP/BRAAAAAAP?
Nintendork Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 In Essex it is more of a Blllrrrrruht bluht bluht The first is always the longest then it goes into a more pulsey bluht bluht
fanman Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Sounds more like blaht blaht to me. The long one sounds like Brrrrrrat. Although the rs sound like ds when they're done fast.
Zygo Ape Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Chavs have reigional dialect??? I suppose its just because people from my area are quite mono-syllablistic, "Braaat" is a bit easier for them to force out than "Brrrraaaappp Brap Brp" Oh the wonders of Britain I have no idea what you guys are talking about Ask Jordan, being a Halifax boy im sure he can put it into context for you
Fierce_LiNk Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 What the hell are you guys talking about? I've never heard any of this "braaaht bluzzt" business. You all crazy. When people say "PMSL" on MSN. Sorry, but it just reminds me of PMS or something. Makes me wanna shove my own hands down the internet and strangle you in the hope that you never use this saying again.
Charlie Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 When people say "obviously" after everything, when most of the time it wasn't obvious at all, or if it was obvious you don't need to point out it was obvious. When people say "right" instead of hi/hello. It should really be "all right" which was then shortened to "awright" then to "right". And obviously 'lol' When people say "I hate people that do that", it should really be "I hate it when people do that" Chavs have reigional dialect??? Come and visit Glasgow.
Fierce_LiNk Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Oh, I've thought of another one. When people say "Indeed." No, shut up. You ain't cool, so stop using such a word like this. I'll think of more later. See, I can be an angry person.

Charlie Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Oh, I've thought of another one. When people say "Indeed." I hate those posh words too. Also, when people say "I know not" instead of "I don't know" and other things akin* to that. *
Ashley Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Only one I can think of is ennit or innit. To be fair, my idiolect is so diverse and weird I can't really throw stones.
fanman Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 What the hell are you guys talking about? I've never heard any of this "braaaht bluzzt" business. You all crazy. It's a chav "phrase".
Zygo Ape Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I hate those posh words too. Also, when people say "I know not" instead of "I don't know" and other things akin* to that. * Thats just like what this wierd guy at my work says, he works in the warehouse and goes to gentlemens clubs, he says stuff completely out of context and speaks like Yoda. "Special i am, go get you your washer, i will!" Only one I can think of is ennit or innit. To be fair, my idiolect is so diverse and weird I can't really throw stones. Idiolect, you like using these words dont you? You big Dictionary Whore. (Idiolect is somebodys own personal language use, for anyone who doesnt know)
Nintendork Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Since when has indeed been a posh word? Jesus fucking christ.
Zygo Ape Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Since when has indeed been a posh word? Jesus fucking christ. Its just not a common word used by regular people, the only people who may say this word now are the more "sophisticated" members of our society. I sure as hell dont use the damned word anyway, and i doubt any of you do in normal conversation unless you're pissing about.
