To be fair the shock factor is in part a response to things like the PTC complaining. Its a good advertising idea. Although I'd admit the show isn't really shocking, and can be a bit tripe at times. Josh Schwartz was awesome at putting in little comedy moments that you might not necessarily pick up the first time through.
