  1. Not really, for the reasons I explained in the above post. €15 is a fair conversion in this case because of currency conversion issues for YCG and included VAT.
  2. That's about right actually since the US price doesn't include VAT. The direct conversion from $15 is around €11.86 right now, so add VAT on top of that; then you have to consider that Yacht Club Games will need to convert those Euros they earn into USD, so add processing fees on top of that for them and it is gonna end up being about €15.
  3. And there it is! The excavation begins on Nov 6th! At long last!
  4. Oh nice! So they DID make a DHD reveal video!
  5. They could've announced that long past overdue N64 VC that they've gone shtum about... Pretty sure the entire internet would collapse under the sheer awesome!
  6. And there's our bi-monthly direct. Guess we're not getting anything else Wii U related till December at best... Still, bring on 8 Player Smash!
  7. You're right in saying that the gameplay speed is the same (as you rightfully pointed out, the DKC games were developed in the UK so they're some of the very very few SNES games that run at the correct speed in 50hz), but regardless the scrolling does look and feel choppier than the 60hz version because of the slower game refresh rate. Now that's a relatively minor issue, but on Wii U there are additional problems with 50hz content layed on top of the original 50hz downsides because the console cannot actually display content in 50hz (all PAL VC games run in a framebuffer that displays within a 60hz frame). What the Wii U does is that it forces the 50hz games into 60hz by duplicating every 5th frame, to fill in the blanks to fit it into a 60hz refresh. This makes 50hz games look even chopier than before and means that button inputs can sometimes not register on those duplicated frames. So 50hz games on Wii U actually look and play worse than their original cartridge counterparts...
  8. DKC3 could well be the 60hz version (the US and EU versions both support English & French and the UK site only mentions English/French support...), we don't know yet. DKC 2 however is the EU 50hz version, so while the gameplay speed was properly optimised back in the day, the scrolling will still be choppier and the game will also suffer the usual 50hz conversion problems on Wii U (since Wii U can't display in 50hz properly, it has to repeat every 5th frame to force it to fit into a 60hz signal - resulting in even choppier motion than the original version and missed button inputs on each "dead" frame), in addition to all the usual downsides of 50hz. The worst part is that the EU and US versions both support the exact same languages anyway - making releasing the PAL version completely pointless!
  9. Oh nice! We get DKC2 AND Namco Museum GBA this week Was expecting them to just be content with putting out DKC2 and calling it a week :p Edit: OH NO!!! DKC2 IS THE PAL VERSION!? YOU IDIOTS!!! THERE IS NO REASON TO RELEASE THE PAL VERSION!! THE US VERSION HAS THE SAME FRENCH LANGUAGE SUPPORT AS THE PAL VERSION!!! (The German version is a separate ROM from the English/French one - in fact, German IS actually selectable in the US version through the use of an Action Replay code, so that's not an excuse here either!!). This is so stupid!! Guys! Get on Miiverse and start protesting! Make some noise!! Get them to change their minds!! This decision benefits nobody! Not even the French!
  10. Coin Battle is back too! (you can see it in the first shot on the left, next to the Stock and Time modes). Nice to see it not get overlooked here, it's a really underrated mode No mention of item frequency though... I hope it's not a case of parity with the 3DS game here...
  11. You don't know how tempted I am... Like Londragon though, I have a bad feeling that they're actually going to do the unthinkable and actually region lock it to Australia only (they REALLY want to get rid of the huge amount of EU & US region 3DS/3DSxl consoles sitting on store shelves before releasing it over here and they're not stupid - they KNOW that people in Europe are gonna import the New3DS in droves...) As soon as we get the all clear though (assuming that we do), that AU region New3DS is as good as mine
  12. Man you've missed out buddy. One of the best multiplayer experiences you can possibly have! (and still great thumping fun in single player too!)
  13. I have everything on a HDD and I've had no problems with the Wii U auto downloading update data
  14. If you guys want a chuckle, be sure to watch some of the runs for the classic Resident Evil games on Speed Demos Archive. The way they make a total joke of the game always cracks me up
  15. Nice to see that they're using the old school art of Mario and Sonic there instead of their modern incarnations
  16. A joke that it has taken as long as it has, but at least we finally have a date! I bet that Rune Factory 4 will still beat it to the punch though
  17. No reason was ever given, but it was removed in all regions on Wii (not just Europe) so it's not the reason why they're releasing the US version here...
  18. Oh man, I can't wait to get back and plough through it on my Gamepad now! I've been dreaming of playing a proper version on a handheld screen for years! (And no! That crappy horrible GBA version is not good enough! Hell I'd choose the GBC version over it!) I'm just so happy they saw sense and picked the right version! It's not like it has much text anyway, so if you don't speak English, you're not missing much (it's just Cranky's Cabin and you can just look up the translated text online anyway!) More importantly, it sets a precedent for the future. There's a chance that the N64 Wii U VC might not be molested by 50hz (All 1st party N64 games got full EFIGS localisations originally) after all! BTW, in case you're wondering, yes I did get DKLand; no I've never played it before and yes I am kicking back in the lounge with my 3DS in hand with it running right now
  19. GUYS!!! DKC IS THE US 60HZ VERSION, DESPITE ORIGINALLY HAVING AN EFIGS EU LOCALISATION ORIGINALLY!! THERE IS A GOD!!! This is a first; this has never happened before, as they usually put out EU 50hz versions of games when they have even the most minor and superflourious of localisations (Super Metroid and Kirby's Adventure spring to mind). Guys! There's hope for the N64 VC and for the likes of 60hz Super Metroid after all!! Today is a glorious day!!
  20. Yeah. We were lumped with an Orlando as well... Suspicious... Also you're mad for sticking with the D-pad. You need to revel in the GLORIOUSNESS of full analog movement! I expect a Mega Metagross delivered to me when you do
  21. Haven't played enough to know for sure, but it's an element of both so far. I was playing alongside my sister and the second time through, we both had the same "adventure" that we set out on (defeat all the trainers), but the environment that we went to and the Pokemon we encountered were all different. I hear that once you get to a certain point though, it does just start giving you randomised versions of previous tasks. It's a good thing that the demo is far from content complete! Keeping secrets these days about your game's content and delivering complete surprise is practically impossible
  22. It's a short demo (about 5-10 mins), but each time you start it again something different happens and things change in the town you're lumped into. You're meant to keep playing it and see what changes...
  23. I'm surprised at how little they've changed the music. They've kept it really surprisingly faithful to the original GBA games! I was expecting them to shake the music up more and use more realistic instruments and a more jazzy style. I'm not disappointed at all, but just surprised since they radically changed the music style in the last two remakes - so seeing them remain faithful this time around is unexpected! Also... FULL 360 degree analog movement without the need for skates!! AT LONG LAST!!! HOORAY!!! You can even tiptoe through grass to avoid any and all wild Pokemon encounters! (Hooray for logic! ) Framerate still sucks balls though and the lack of S3D in the overworld still annoys the crap out of me - especially when you see the flying sequence cutscene (which looks fantastic and far better than the normal gameplay) which runs perfectly smoothly in S3D just fine... I do notice that they've put much more effort into the NPC animations and facial expressions this time around though. Everyone is much more expressive than in X/Y The new Bag is fantastic. Having the party Pokemon appear on the same screen for easy access makes everything much more streamlined! Anyway, I've done it twice and no more now. Once per day to pace myself, but man I want that full game right now! Oh and Mega Glalie just looks...
  24. WOOT! Shopto pulled through! Downloading now
  25. C'mon Shopto ol' buddy, don let me down... I need that demo code!
