I suppose in the end it's gonna be very tough for anyone to answer that because I bet it feels like they're both two parts of one massive game. Bit like Golden Sun and The Lost Age in that respect (but not quite to that level of course, since the story is not the focus - but gameplay wise I bet it has a similar feeling to it)
-
The 3DS game has some of the best stages in the series though! And Smash Run is irreplaceable (if you have local friends to play with of course). No way could the Wii U game "replace" the 3DS one. There's far too much exclusive content here. Do you guys like never play older Mario Kart or Smash Bros games because the new hotness is out? No way! We still play stuff like Double Dash, Brawl, Mario Kart 7 and the older Mario Tennis/Golf games alongside the new ones! It's just more Smash. The Wii U game will add to the series, but not take away what the 3DS game did! You're not going to see stuff like Pacmaze or Golden Plains on the Wii U game, nor will you get stuff like Smash Run.

So... @RedShell Bayo 2 or TW101? Has failed diplomacy been topped? I mean, I preferred Bayo 1 to TW101 (only barely mind you!), but what about you? At the very least, I know that there's no way that TW101's ending could possibly be topped though

Well if it means anything, they keep iterating that it's coming out in Europe in 2014... They have gotten a lot better at EU releases than back in the DSiware days (or heaven forfend, their pre-digital days where most of their games just flat out didn't get released outside of the US!), so I don't expect it to take as long as before...
-
Like I said before, I've been itching to do a replay of Bayo 1 for a while. I was just waiting for the Wii U version I can't see how Bayo 2 could possibly top the first one, but I'm eager to find out!
-
So is anyone here playing Bayo 1 for the first time? What do you think so far?
-
I was there earlier on myself, I dunno how many copies they had around the back but they only had 1 copy of the Special Edition out on display... It's called N1 Games. It's up the Angel in Chapel Market. Great little store, lots of nice memories there. Me and Glen always joked about how we thought it would always outlast the HMV and the GAME stores there. Fast forward a few years and look who's still going strong! :awesome:

Super Smash Bros. Wii U Direct (23rd October 23:00)
Dcubed replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Mario Kart 8 has no excuse for lacking in-game voice chat, but Smash Bros certainly does. It's amongst the single most difficult games to get working properly online because it is a 4 player simultaneous fighting game (with dynamic stage elements and items - something that no other fighter has in 2 player, let alone 4 player!) You can't bring up other games as counter examples here because Smash Bros is in a league of its own when it comes to online netcode. The closest example is Street Fighter, but that's only 2 players on a flat non-interactive background and that only just about works. It's a perfectly understanadable concession here. There's a good reason why they're recommending a wired connection here after all! The fact that it works as well as it does in the 3DS game is an absolute miracle! -
Super Smash Bros. Wii U Direct (23rd October 23:00)
Dcubed replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I might be classy, but I'm not grown up :p Besides, I'm still technically right since a big chunk of the game was actually delayed till next year I did say some time back that it would either be delayed or released unfinished... -
Super Smash Bros. Wii U Direct (23rd October 23:00)
Dcubed replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It's any combination of controllers up to 8 players. So up to 4 GCN controllers, up to 8 3DS consoles, up to 4 Wiimotes/Nunchucks/Classic Controllers/Classic Controller Pros/Wii U Pro Controllers and the Gamepad. Any mix of those will work Wait WHAT!? You can use TWO GCN controller adapters for 8 GCN controllers!? And 7 Bluetooth controllers (Wiimote/Wii U Pro Controller) at once!? WOW! So Wii U technically supports a maximum of 33 players locally!? (8 GCN controllers, 7 Bluetooth controllers, 2 Gamepads, 16 3DS consoles - that's the maximum that the DS/3DS can do at once). Man I REALLY want a Wii U Bomberman game now -
Super Smash Bros. Wii U Direct (23rd October 23:00)
Dcubed replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
To be fair, SM3DW and MK8 are much better looking games than Smash, but it's still really impressive to pull it off with 8 fighters onscreen at the same time! Oh man, can't wait to try a 7 vs 1 match! -
Super Smash Bros. Wii U Direct (23rd October 23:00)
Dcubed replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It shouldn't be a surprise. They said it was 1080p all the way back when it was first announced last year The Wii U isn't quite as "lowly" as you think obviously Yeah of course. They already mentioned Temple as an example of one of the larger stages and the version they show is the normal sized one Expect New Pork City to make a return as well. -
Super Smash Bros. Wii U Direct (23rd October 23:00)

By delaying part of it till next year So in the end... I was actually kinda right Serebii :awesome: 8 Player Smash is a separate mode (that's why it had that sound clip that was data mined from the 3DS game), meaning that it has its own unique selection of stages, like Big Battlefield. -
Super Smash Bros. Wii U Direct (23rd October 23:00)

Mewtwo for buying both games is a brilliant move! BTW there's an awful lot of "in an upcoming update" in that video. Guess we know how they got the game out in time for this year now... But still... 8 PLAYER SMASH!!! OH MY GOD!!! -
The Wonderful 101 has the stamps too, but they're not unlockable - they just get added automatically depending on which character you use to post on Miiverse (in fact it was actually the very first Wii U game to support them!) Bayonetta 1 also has the stamps as well. It isn't. It's it's own thing. Nintendo purposely avoid those kinds of systems because their designers are philosophically opposed to them.

Damn right and all! N1 Games 4 LYF! So between us, we're gonna end up having 3 copies of each game (4 if you count Bayo 1 on 360! ) You can't say that we don't try! :p
-
What can they do? Lend their own staff out to make the online mode for them? They're already strapped for staff as it is! YCG barely had enough money to support the staff they currently had, let alone adding another network programmer on top of that. Nor did they even have the time to develop a network mode (the 4 player battle mode isn't gonna be out for a while yet and they will really need to start working on their next project soon anyway). YCG is just a very small dev team. You guys are expecting too much from them! Not even Wayforward (which is many times larger than YCG) have online and local wireless multiplayer modes in their games and none of their staff have any network experience either (which of course also extends to YCG since they're all ex Wayforward staff).

It fit through my letterbox perfectly fine. No damage, no nothing

You really should, they're great games in their own right and actually feel quite a bit like Metroid Fusion as well (though the Monster World games are probably a closer comparison). I know this is gonna sound a bit weird, but I'd actually recommend playing the 2nd game (Risky's Revenge on DSi) before the 1st one (Shantae GBC). It's much more beginner friendly and tighter in terms of just about everything, from controls to level design, even if it is less ambitious in scope than its GBC predecessor. Absolutely play both, but play the DSi one first and then the GBC one. There's not much of a real story in the GBC one anyway, so you're not missing out on anything really by playing in reverse order.

Aaaaaannnnddd mine! Ahh Shopto, you never let me down The boxes do look absolutely beautiful lined up together! (So glad that we got the original Bayo 2 box art and not the butchered one that the US got! ) Too bad about the USK logos though (not that it matters that much since I'm gonna be playing the Digital versions anyway, but eh - at least the age ratings end up matching their respective logo colour schemes! Hey maybe that's why they shot for a 16 age rating for Bayo 2? )
-
That's awesome and makes me really want a VC release of the original arcade Punchout games!
-
Local only because Yacht Club Games have nobody on their team that have any network programming experience (that's also why it's Wii U only, because they collectively don't have the knowhow to do 3DS Local Wireless programming - they said as much back during the Kickstarter)
-
Both of course! : peace: Remember that each will have exclusive content (3DS = Streetpass Battle - Wii U = Diggers Diary + 4 Player Battle mode, the latter is to be added after launch)
-
Oh yeah, no doubt. $60=€60 is complete bullshit (and don't even get me started on the total joke of an RRP £50 is for games in the UK! Thank God that no retailer other than Game would dare charge that kind of ludicrous price ) In this case though, I see nothing to complain about. It's perfectly fair.
-
Man I envy you guys who've never played the original. You have no idea just how much awesome you're in for! (and then you've got a whole 'nother motherlode to chomp into!!) It's seriously one of the best games ever made. The best PS360 game of last gen by a country mile and the best game ever made in its genre! : peace: (And to think that the sequel could even potentially be able to top it!? My brain can scarcely comprehend it! ) If there was any PS360 game I would ever have wanted ported over and I could only pick one, it would've been (and was!) Bayonetta by an absolute landslide! You'll see exactly why I wanted this port so badly in just a scant few hours! (assuming that your copies arrive today of course )
