That's a nice video, filled with warm fuzzy feelings I do really hope that they're gonna carry on working together on future projects. Nintendo and Platinum really are a match made in heaven (and hell too in this case )

Oh good, so it's probably just a cockup then

Gamecube Controller Adapter compatible with... Bugger all.
Dcubed replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Wow! If so, that's great news! I'll be able to use them with N64 Wii U games for certain then! But I doubt that's the case, because Smash Bros Wii U recognises the GCN controller as a seperate controller from anything else (button icons match the GCN controller), which would be impossible if the adapter just replicated the Pro Controller/Classic Controller. I'll just assume that this is a mistake in the listing for now... -
Do we? I don't remember that being announced anywhere...
-
WTF, the UK Nintendo site doesn't list Wiimote & Nunchuck as compatible!? THE HELL!?!? GCN, Gamepad, Wii U Pro Controller only!? Really!? This is bullshit! Are they really pandering to the "hardcore" Melee fanboys so much that they're cutting out my preferred control scheme to make it look more palettable to them!?
-
Well when it comes to Smash Bros, if you're gonna knock me off the stage of discussion then I'm gonna do my damndest to get back on and carry on fighting till that timer runs out! :p BTW: I really hope that they release some new Wavebird controllers as well as the wired ones. I mean, I already have 5 of them, but they're all the boring standard grey colour since they hardly ever released any different coloured Wavebirds (and what little ones were made became stupidly rare!) Gimme some coloured Wavebirds already!! (and some GCN VC games to make use of them too )

Not until it's actually out and sitting on my shelf :p There's still every chance of a last minute delay... After all, I was still right about the Amiibos coming out before the game itself (and if Smash does get the delay, the Amiibos will still come out in time for Xmas regardless, just like I said they would) Also it wasn't announced in a Direct, but just randomly out of nowhere for no reason, so it's a sign of it being wrong! It's a siiiiigggggnnnnnnn!!!! ok, so I'm a little excited by the date... just a little

I can't see myself ever buying any of these themes, but I do like the look of the Hanafuda one I bet that these would make for nice pre-order bonuses or give-aways in the future though For now, I've gone with the bog standard yellow one. Looks pretty nice with more or less everything that appears onscreen Yeah, they all have some really nice music (seriously!? How many composers do they have lying around just pumping out all these great tracks for bloody menus and themes! It's insane just how many tracks appear for the tiniest of things!). Interesting that the Mario and Zelda ones are not actually from the games that they say they're from, but rather are all new arrangements that are based off the ones from the games that they say they're from (all except for the SM3DW ones though, those ones ARE just taken from the original game).

You're right, the last major Direct was focused all around the New3DS and the last Direct type video was the E3 Digital Event. That being said, we did get that Treehouse Live session which went over some upcoming Wii U games as well. I do think that this month's Direct will focus on Wii U in general though. Plenty of scope for new trailers of known games and announcements of release dates for Wii U games, as well as the long awaited N64 VC - meanwhile they've not got much to focus on with 3DS in the next few months (and they're not gonna talk about the New3DS in US/EU until next year anyway).
-
We're due one this month. It's been two months since the last one and they always happen once bi-monthly. And if Smash is still coming out this year, this'll be when they announce the release date - or else it's not coming out till next year.
-
Considering that supposedly the PS4 being CPU bound was the reason why it's not running in 1080p there, I'd take anything they say about the matter with a truckload of salt After all, it wouldn't do well to serve their narrative about this being this amazing "next gen" only game that would only be possible on "next gen" hardware if it could run on "last gen" machines now, would it?
-
I did expect this to happen... It doesn't make any sense to delay this game in only one region when it's gonna end up having hardly any text anyway
-
Even if a Wii U version is coming, they're not gonna announce it right before releasing the 3DS one. Surely Capcom isn't stupid enough to make that same mistake a 3rd time, right?... Right!?
-
Glad to see that I'm not the only one who noticed. I was playing it with the 3DS hooked up to my surround system and there is like no bass to anything! Everything sounds very tinny. The compression reminds me of the sound quality you got in Melee, but with less bass and higher highs and less fuzziness to everything It's not like you cant get good sound quality out of the 3DS either, some games sound really great! (like Kid Icarus Uprising and A Link Between Worlds). Shame that they didn't spend a bit extra on a larger Game Card for higher quality audio, but I suppose that they're heavily memory constrained as it is, so that would probably be impractical to actually have running in-game anyway...

Slim pickings again this week, but at least Ufouria The Saga is a good game
-
Probably a good idea to point out that this Direct seems to be Japan only. Anyway, can't say that I feel the need for yet another MH4G Direct, but eh? What costumes will we see this time I wonder...
-
Looks like it has either failed cert, or NOE are holding it back in (wisely) looking to avoid the blast radius of Smash Bros...
-
Even with the stages being supposedly of no consequence to you, the 3DS game does still have the Smash Run mode as an exclusive, as well as unique trophies, music, Streetpass features and possibly some sub modes like Target Blast (which may not end up in the Wii U game - in favour of something else, like the rumoured return of Stage Builder). So even discounting the unique stages, the 3DS game will still hold value outside of "just" offering portable Smash Bros

If online is performing badly for you, stick to 1 on 1 matches. You'll no doubt get much better performance. Same goes for items, turning them off will yield less online lag. The more players and dynamic elements you add, the worse the online performance is gonna get. Sticking with the simpler stages like Final Destination and all the Omega Form stages will yield better performance too.
-
I've not played online much (mostly been playing local - both Smash Run and normal battles) but I'm surprised at how good it has been so far with the few online matches I have had. Surprisingly little lag really, worlds apart from Brawl! I suspect that it's not going to be like that for a good chunk of the time, but the fact that I can get near flawless games at all is an absolute miracle! Getting a game like Smash Bros to work online must be nothing less than a total nightmare - consider how latency dependent traditional 1 on 1 fighters are, now multiply that by 3 (since it's 4 players), then add all the items and stage hazard tracking on top of that... This game probably has some of the best netcode any fighting game has ever had (and considering the exceptional online performance of Namco's more recent fighters, I can believe it too!) - Smash is just that difficult to get working online. Hell even local play can be very prone to wireless interference (playing next to a smartphone or two can quickly turn a perfectly performing local wireless match into an unplayable mess). The fact that online play is actually even viable, let alone surprisingly well performing, is amazing!

The catch is that Mightyape won't ship to the UK

Nintendo 3DS Winter 2014 Bonus Game Promotion (3DS)
Dcubed replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
No they don't. They're sold seperately, but there's a bundle coming out on November 28 that includes a transparent 2DS and the corresponding version of OR/AS pre-installed. If you do get the bundle and do the System Transfer, you won't lose the game - in fact, it'll combine the contents onto the NNID that you transfer over (you'll have to re-download Pokemon OR/AS after you do the transfer mind you, but it won't cost you anything). So you can transfer back and forth without any issues at all -
Nintendo 3DS Winter 2014 Bonus Game Promotion (3DS)
Dcubed replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Because the offer is designed to encourage people to buy a 3DS. They actually did do an offer exactly like this one back early last year though which included people who had already registered their consoles before the offer started, it was great for nabbing cheap digital copies of 3DS games! (So keep an eye out on eBay for people selling their codes and you may find some copies of MH3U going for super cheap ) -
Nintendo 3DS Winter 2014 Bonus Game Promotion (3DS)
Dcubed replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
If you haven't already got Kirby, then the transparent 2DS would be effectively costing you just £55 if you buy it from the official UK Nintendo Store (who are selling them for £89.99) I'd say it's worth it, if only to complete the collection -
Nintendo 3DS Winter 2014 Bonus Game Promotion (3DS)

AFAIK it won't. Either way, you get a download code that can be redeemed on any 3DS/NNID like any big standard normal code anyway.
