  1. And Waluigi's Exploits are now up for all to gawk at in amazement. WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! A big WAAAHHHH!! to @RedShell for the excellent work on this one and a special thanks to... well... a LOT of you for the ending. Waluigi is pleased!
  2. It means that it's the American version of the game and that it runs at the correct speed, instead of the European version, which runs slower than it should.
  3. Just get the HD Collection (preferably on PS3, since the 360 version had to have the controls rejigged to get around the lack of pressure sensitive buttons on the PS2/PS3 controller). There's some minor content missing from it compared to the PS2 versions (like Snakeboarding), but it's just a better experience all round.
  4. For anyone wondering...
  5. Not a clue, been here since the Cube Europe days, so buggered if I can remember :p My first forum I joined was Gamefaqs so I probably heard about it from someone on there.
  6. Can't do this week, but I CAN sort out getting highlight videos up, primp and proper, so that'll be done when I get home!
  7. One thing I'm pretty sure on is that they're not working on Metroid Prime 4, because Kensuke Tanabe doesn't seem to be involved, like he normally is, with Retro's current project. Gives me the impression that they might be finally making something completely new
  8. It's funny because all three could potentially be unveiling new hardware this E3! This one will no doubt be exciting! (not to mention that we should be seeing Retro's next game here as well! )
  9. Or it could just support the GCN controller adapter
  10. I actually do as well, but that's for playing NTSC GCN/MD/NeoGeo games and my NTSC Wii game collection. Really annoying that I can't get the GCN/MD/NG consoles' games on my Wii U (50hz garbage via the Wii menu doesn't count, 60hz or bust!)
  11. Nope. Online play is an occasional thing for me, wouldn't use it enough to justify the cost. And I have no interest in a PS Plus/Games with Gold ripoff because I want to outright own my games, not rent them.
  12. You're quite right in saying that. In fact, that's the exact reason why I still have my N64 hooked up (I don't like what they did with the re-releases of Rare's N64 games; they messed around with stuff in them and mucked them up. In the case of Nintendo's consoles, it's not a deal breaker because I know for certain that they're gonna be pumping out stuff that I'm gonna want anyway. For Sony and MS? I care more about the past than the future, so I dumped them in favour of having a PC hooked up to my TV (not gonna beat the backwards compatibility on that!). But BC is still a huge bonus for me. The past is just as important as the future for me and many others. So while I won't avoid the NX if it lacks BC, it will be a huge bummer for me. I'm looking forward to seeing how they improve the experience of playing my existing games and I'm hoping to see it happen... Indeed, I still think it will happen. I'd be very surprised if the NX console/handheld didn't play Wii U/3DS games.
  13. Because I don't want dozens of systems hooked up to my TV. I want the convinience of having everything playable on the one device (ideally digitally, so I can just select between all of them from the same menu!) It's really inconvenient to have to deal with multiple devices. It also means that past games can benefit from future console features as well (like how 360 games can be live streamed on Xbone) It's also great for people who never owned the past consoles as well, because the games are all easily accessible and can be bought from the eShop. An already existing library of cheap games that are new to people who didn't buy a Wii U, or other past Nintendo consoles, is a big deal - especially considering how price conscious today's audience is.
  14. BC is a big deal for me. I really want to be able to play everything from the one console. It's why I never bought a PS4. Absolutely will not consider a purchase unless it plays PS3/PS2/PS1 games in a way that either matches the PS1/2/3 hardware perfectly, or better. Simple as. I will be VERY upset if the NX console doesn't play Wii U games; especially with the Virual Console catalogue available for it. Ditto for the NX handheld with New3DS/3DS games.
  15. That's what they do in their handhelds. The GBA used the GBC CPU for sound and other processes. The DS used a GBA CPU clocked at double the speed for all WiFi operations and includes an enhanced version of the GBA's GPU for all 2D Sprite graphics, while the 3DS uses the DSi's hardware for background related tasks. Considering that the NX is to take over from handheld and console, it wouldn't surprise me to see them do something similar here. Even if it is based off of the Wii U architecture like Iwata alluded to before, it could still happen. The Wii U uses an ARM CPU that is seperate from the main CPU to run OS operations in the background. I could see them making use of the New3DS hardware for something similar...
  16. TBH, you're not helping your argument when you resort to listing The Bouncer in your wall of PS2 fame :p Also psst... The GTA games and Onimusha were also on Xbox and PC... They were better there
  17. Funnily enough, the original Xbox is actually more useful to own today than an Xbox 360. It has far more exclusive games that aren't available anywhere else and MS' pathetic attempt at BC with the Xbox on the 360 is so glitchy and unreliable that it's not really worth bothering with. Hell it'll probably end up with more exclusives than the Xbone as well when all is said and done
  18. I'd say that it says more about how much manpower is needed to make games these days. From the beginning I said that the NX will probably not get its own exclusive Super Smash Bros game (at least, not for about 3-4 years). They'll just port the Wii U one, add all the 3DS content (since the NX is both a console and a handheld), add a few more characters and stages and boom! Super Smash for NX. Making a new Smash Bros from scratch this soon is ludicrous! Why bother? They'll sell just as much by releasing an enhanced version of Smash 4 and they'll be able to get it out within a reasonable timeframe; freeing up their staff to work on something new in the process. Same with Splatoon and Mario Maker. Very easy to make enhanced versions of those, rather than sequels from scratch and they'll free up their dev staff. Starting something new from scratch will take far too long; they need this software right out of the gate, not a year or two after the NX is already out! As for controllers? You can bet on them all being supported on NX. Why wouldn't they? It's all just USB, WiFi and Bluetooth; things that the NX would have anyway.
  19. PS2 is one of my least favourite consoles of all time. Tons of mediocre games and most of the good ones were better elsewhere (and the few that weren't, have pretty much all been re-released on PS3 now in superior form - granted, I can't really ding it for that, but still...) Hardware is godawful too! Ridiculously unreliable, crappy loading times and just generally pretty gross to look at and even touch! Yuck! The slim one is much better of course, but it still feels really cheap and flimsy. Just not a nice machine all round. I'd generally say that Sony's consoles got worse over time, but the PS3 was a much nicer piece of hardware for the time at least; so it does have that going for it. Its exclusives sucked balls for the most part (save a few exceptions like LBP, Warhawk and the God of War games); though it redeems itself by being the place to play the PS1 library and remasters of the PS2's best games. The PS1 library is still by far the best that any Sony console has ever had, but I suppose you can chalk that down to the direction the industry headed as a whole
  20. Ports mean nothing in terms of BC. Nintendo literally just released a remaster of a game that is already playable on the same console just last month. I'd also like to point out that Emily is more often wrong than right. Hell, her "leak" of Paper Mario Wii U was actually already leaked a whole year prior. At an Intelligent Systems job fair back in 2015 (why do you think I was so certain with my bet that we'd see Paper Mario Wii U this year? And that was before Emily's tweets ) Oh and that patent is blatantly a smartphone powered popcorn maker. Nintendo's TRUE QOL breakthrough product!
  21. Great ad, love the puppets and the quality snark.
  22. I reckon that the NX will end up supporting online livestreaming, but they will take their own Nintendo-like approach. They'll probably tie it into Miiverse and they'll probably look to make it a more interactive experience. Something along the lines of giving words of encouragement that appear on the streamer's own screen (think Wii Sports Club, but in real time) and being able to join the streamer's game live via touching an icon on Miiverse. Naturally, it will all be moderated by the Miiverse mods, so you'll probably have to have pictures pre-approved, like in WSC, in order to post them during a streamer's chat. There will probably be My Nintendo missions tied into giving support and assistance to other players as well. Youtube uploading will almost certainly be built-in. They already support it in Smash and Kart and Nintendo have a very chummy relationship with Google, so this one's a no brainer. You'll probably not see any Twitch support though, as all Livestreams are done via Miiverse, with livestream archives being uploaded to Youtube.
  23. I reckon that the game was originally in development for the Gamecube at an early stage and they just didn't want to bother re-drawing everything from scratch to fit the widescreen mode. Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn did the same thing for its 2D sections; the 3D parts were all widescreen (which was thankfully the majority of the game). Fun-fact, the original Japanese version was actually 4:3 only and all pre-release screenshots were of the cancelled GCN version (they all used GCN button prompts). Wario Ware SM was also 4:3 and was probably first developed on GCN dev kits (with the Wii Remote as an accessory) to get it out in time for launch. Quite a lot of the Wii's early games were ported over from GCN; but converting a 4:3 3D game to 16:9 is a lot easier than porting a 4:3 2D game over to 16:9.
  24. Bloody Mirror Mode! I kept getting Twilight Princessed
  25. Not gonna lie, though exactly the same thing :p Gotta Splat em' All!
