Can't really argue with the final choice. It actually feels like an appropriate send-off for the series; and somehow, they actually managed to live up to the hype with their pick for The Final Smash Bros Character. The sheer insanity regarding the wrangling of the licensing also commands mad respect. That was no doubt incredibly difficult to pull off on Nintendo's part!
-
Nope. All 3 are cloud streaming versions. Absolute garbage. They're PS2/PSP games FFS!
-
Wow. KH1&2 collections being Cloud versions is pretty dang shit. S-E really just couldn't be arsed could they?
-
DAT DISNEY MONEY!!!!!!!!! Can't imagine how much Nintendo must've had to pay for the licensing here...

DOOM GUY MADE IT!!!
-
This is it! The end of the road...
-
Clearly this means that Monster Hunter is the final Smash character!!
-
I'm sure that this won't be a... tiny announcement
-
40 mins is pretty chunky! You could say that it's...

As far as we know, it uses the same "Mariko" Tegra X1 chip as currently inside the V2 Switch and Switch Lite. So the battery life should be more or less the same as the current V2 model Switch. If you're still rocking the original V1 model Switch, it might actually be worth you upgrading; the extra battery life is a nice improvement over the original model.

Not to mention the first ever official English release of the Famicom Detective Club titles! Oh and Trials of Mana. Oh! and Kid Dracula NES, can't forget that one. Oh! and the Kunio Kun collection! Oh! And the NamcoT collection too... Man. Switch has been pretty damn great for localisations of previously JPN only games!

I think that the Switch's greatest strength isn't actually it's portability per-say... but rather it's just the sheer versatility it provides. It's a modern HD console that is also a handheld, that can also be a tabletop monitor, that can also be a VR headset, that can even be a vertically orientated handheld for Tate mode shumps! (Seriously, guys, the FlipGrip is amazing!). It's compatible with its own controllers, official NES/SNES/N64/Mega Drive controllers, Gamecube controllers, arcade sticks and basically every other controller in existence when you start getting into the 8bit-do adapters. The console can even be used on its own as a makeshift tablet with certain games that are touchscreen only! Multiple Switches can be hooked up together as a multi-monitor setup and its Joy-con controllers can be jury-rigged to work with an insane variety of accessories ranging from a Pilates ring to a literal giant robot! It can play almost every type of game imaginable with only a few exceptions (basically just the games on Wii that rely on the IR pointer). And this aspect of Switch is every bit as magic now as it was back in 2017.

In terms of individual games that are exclusive to Switch? Luigi’s Mansion 3 is an absolute triumph that is one of the best games Nintendo has published in quite some time (It absolutely deserves the 10/10 score I gave it in my review). Though it doesn’t really make use of the Switch’s unique functionality (it was a Wii U game originally after all), the game is so damn good that it doesn’t really matter. Dicey Dungeons is an amazing rogue like that is also (currently) Switch console exclusive; and I LOVE it! Monster Hunter Rise may have been ridiculously overdue and really should’ve come out much earlier in the Switch’s life; but it ended up being worth the wait. A fantastic entry in the series that undoes everything I disliked about Monster Hunter World and pushes the series forward in bold new ways, while giving me the classic local multiplayer handheld experience I craved. It was exactly what I wanted from a Switch exclusive Monster Hunter game And Monster Hunter Stories 2 (though largely more of the same), is the surprise sequel I never thought I’d ever get! Pokémon Sword/Shield also, for all my misgivings about its flaws, is a marked step in the right direction for the series that is a huge improvement from the disappointing Gen 7 Sun/Moon. And while I wouldn’t say that either game desperately needed a remake? The surprise remakes of Links Awakening and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX have also been very welcome. Nintendo Labo also helped bring back some of that Crazy Nintendo magic that I miss so dearly as well; despite only having been able to build the VR Goggles due to a chronic lack of space where I live right now (maybe when I move and finally have more space I’ll get round to building the Robot Kit!). Same thing with Ring Fit Adventure; Crazy Nintendo is best Nintendo! And speaking of Crazy Nintendo… Wario Ward GIT is a superb entry in the series that has had me grinning from ear to ear. I’m very pleased with how it turned out! Actually, this year in general has been probably the best one yet! The grand return of Wario Ware? No More Heroes 3? Metroid Dread!! (HOLY SHIT! METROID 5 AT LONG LAST!!) and fucking Advance Wars!?!? I’m a very happy man right now! But even without just looking at the exclusives, just being able to play actual console games on a true handheld is in of itself a revelatory experience. And the 3rd party support has just absolutely blown me away compared to how things started out; let alone compared to the last two console generations! It still feels surreal to finally have Final Fantasy 7 on a Nintendo console (and on a cartridge no less!). The Devil May Cry PS2 trilogy? Yup! And in portable form to boot! Doom 2016 & Doom Eternal? It’s here. Hard to believe that we just came off of the Wii U!

KONAMI - What the hell are they doing!?
Dcubed replied to RedShell's topic in General Gaming Discussion
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2021/10/konami-competition-tasks-indie-devs-with-reviving-its-classic-ip When you can’t be bothered to make your own games anymore? Just get the fans to do it for you! -
I haven’t heard of any performance issues with any version (let alone the PS5 one!). Sounds like something is wrong… Might be worth turning the PS5 off & on again and maybe re-downloading the game if that doesn’t fix it.

Wonder if they’ll be cool enough to do a reverse cover with the AW2 boxart as well… -
Too Long or Too Short? What is the right length for a game?
Dcubed replied to Cube's topic in General Gaming Discussion
The ideal length of a game really depends on what it’s setting out to accomplish. If I’m playing an arcade-style shmup or rail shooter? It really shouldn’t be lasting longer than an hour or so. These types of games are supposed to be dense, concise and laser focused gameplay experiences that are designed to be as replayable as possible; and that necessitates a short & sweet running time. An RPG or Action Adventure game however? I would expect something longer (though even then, that’s not necessarily set in stone). In general, a game should only be as long as it’s mechanics can sustain it for. The moment when a game stops introducing new ideas and concepts is the moment where it really should be coming to an end. Sadly, most games go on for far longer than they should do; and that comes down to the poisonous mindset that Gamers™ have forced upon developers. The idea that Runtime = Value for Money, no matter how shitty the gameplay becomes as a result of scraping its butter over too much bread. This toxic mindset has ruined countless games with useless, time-wasting filler that actively spoils the gameplay experience. That’s not to say that you can’t make a long game work; Xenoblade is a fantastic (and rare) example of a 70 hour RPG that amazingly DOESN’T overstay its welcome. But that’s the exception to the norm. -
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin (18th March 2022)
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Other Consoles
How has nobody posted this art yet!? This had me absolutely HOWLING so hard last night I could barely even sleep through my fit of giggles -
A March 2023 release would constitute a longer lifecycle than every single Nintendo home console (other than just the Famicom - which had very weak competition compared to today’s standard). Just to put things in perspective; by this point in their respective lifecycles, the Wii U had already been replaced by the Switch, the Wii U had already been formally unveiled (and almost every major Wii game had already been released), Project Reality had already been formally unveiled as the Nintendo 64 & set for release just over a year away and the N64 had already been superseded by the GameCube. Switch is old AF now. Nintendo are already late in announcing a successor by this point.

Ahh. They can finally use the leaked picture now So that's all of Sony's major long-time partners bought out now? Took 'em a while, but they got there! Wonder if Lucid Games will be next on Sony's shopping list...
-
Not to dwell on this, but Nintendo's execs aren't exactly gonna be coming out publically saying that Switch is coming to the end of its lifecycle... especially when they're peddling a new model and haven't announced a successor yet...

Heads up @S.C.G The Saturn Tribute collection games (Cotton 2, Cotton Boomerang, Guardian Force) all got stealth released on the EU eShop today! These games cost about £150-200+ each in their original SEGA Saturn form, so they're quite the bargain here!
-
Uh oh...
-
This thing is going to be in very short supply for a long time; as is the case with PS5/Series X. There's no getting around that with the ongoing worldwide chip shortage. They aint gonna wait out the chip shortage that long though, they'll just accept mass shortages and demand outstripping supply (A concept that Nintendo is definitely no stranger to ).
-
Sure. They're not making a 4K Nintendo Switch... because this new console is not gonna be a "Nintendo Switch" as we know it March 2023 is looking more and more likely than ever before... Makes me wonder why the hell Bayonetta 3 is launching on the current Switch and not just being pushed back... Hell it's probably gonna be releasing October/November 2022, why not just push it back a few months and make it a launch title!?
