I can't be bothered reading through all the posts on previous 4 pages, so I'll just list some of my favourites. Many of them are classics, absolutely must see anyway. -Spirited Away (Best animated film ever) -Das Boot (Best war movie ever) -Once upon a time in the west (The definitive western) -Citizen Kane -The Good, the Bad and the Ugly -Dances with Wolves -One flew over the Cuckoo's nest -Docter Strangelove -A clockwork orange -Pleasentville (not really a classic, but I liked it very much)

I recently bought the Ghibli films 'Whisper of the heart' and 'Pom Poko'. If your looking for high quality anime...don't look any further than studio Ghibli, they're the masters of their craft. Whisper of the heart is now my 3rd favorite anime, after Spirited Away and Porco Rosso.

Peter Jackson...story...what are you talking about? There's very little introduced to the storyline after about half way through, after Kong takes away Ann Darrow. That's what made the film overlong and boring towards the end. Crap this film certainly is not, but mindless it most definitly is. It's just a popcorn-film, pure eyecandy but not much else. Peter Jackson undoubtely intended it to be that way, but action for the sake of action isn't my cup of tea.

Saw it yesterday. It's really impressive from a technical standpoint, but that's about the only thing that's really good about it. The first half certainly was the better one, it had me glued to my seat with a sense of tension. After a while the effects of the pretty CG visuals just wears a little thin I'd say. At three hours, the last two almost entirely filled with over the top action, the film was really too long to hold my interest. Much better than ROTS (obviously) but definitly overrated.

Yeah there's a lot of shittyness in this world, but that only makes me appreciate the good much more.

Nice read. As for me: I really don't care how a game is actually played, it's more the content of the game that attracts me. Therefore I don't care about the x360 not having a radical new controller, a classic one will suffice. The x360 has good graphics and the games I like. That's more than enough reasons for me to buy it. Now that's not say I don't care about Nintendo's new controller - I do - but I'm not buying a Rev just because of that. I was kinda dissapointed with the library of games on GC so I first got to see what games Nintendo has cooking up for us with the Rev. If, with the Rev, the 3rd party issue has been resolved and the first party games are great, then I'm all for it. Besides do we really need a new way of playing games? The way you play a PC game for example hasn't changed much - if at all - since the advent of the mouse and keyboard. Is that oké? Don't the mouse and keyboard have to go too? It's amazing nobody seems to even mention that.

10 reasons to skip the xbox360 for the revolution
MonkeyPunch replied to phez_boy's topic in Nintendo Gaming
What about it? I don't care if a console has it or not. Backwards compatability is just a bonus, one that most people (myself included) aren't even going to use. It's not essential. -
10 reasons to skip the xbox360 for the revolution
MonkeyPunch replied to phez_boy's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Only two points are worth mentioning: #1 Revolution's price point and #10 the controller. -
Wow, just wow! What an utterly stupid and pointless way to throw away cash!

Oh please don't do that. There were mostly immature 10-year olds using the comment system anyway, no big loss. If you can't be bothered to follow the link then stay away I'd say.

I've only one grandparent left, my grandma, but she's probably not going anywhere anytime soon. She had her first hart attack over thirty years ago, since then she survived another two (major ones, I might add). She also survived breast cancer, two open-heart surgeries and god knows what else. For over 30 years my mother and the rest of the family thought she could die any day, but she's still allive and kicking today. She is one tough granny.

Whats Your favourite Nintendo consloe
MonkeyPunch replied to Nintendofan64's topic in Nintendo Gaming
N64 by far. So many classic games! I probably spent more time just on Goldeneye than on all the GC games combined. -
Why are you complaining? It's not like Microsoft is forcing you to buy a HD-TV or anything. The 360's graphics will look incredible on a regular TV and they will look even beter on a HD enabled one. You should be glad Microsoft is pushing technology. Besides HD is the future. You might not be ready to buy a HD-TV now but when, somewhere in the future, you do decide to buy one then at least you'll have a console that supports it.
-
What's the point? Most parents don't care about age ratings at all, they buy anything their little kid wants. Spoiled little children.

The Xbox360 is a power hungry beast, Microsoft had to put in a mighty big fan in order for it not to melt down. That's the reason why it's so big.

Revolution to be cheapest next-gen console

My comment wasn't really directed to you, more to a certain persons on the previous page. -

Hmm is that the foul stench of fanboyism I'm smelling? -
Revolution to be cheapest next-gen console
MonkeyPunch replied to Oli1983uk's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Maybe, maybe not. Not everyone cares about innovation (like rev's controller), or may simply prefer a more clasic controller and gameplay. At the end of the day it's still all about the games. Nintendo may have innovation on their side but if their games are still percieved as kiddy and the 3rd party support is still weak then it won't get them anywhere. -
Revolution to be cheapest next-gen console
MonkeyPunch replied to Oli1983uk's topic in Nintendo Gaming
When I said 'last in the console race' I meant that Ninty is far behind Sony in terms of sales. What reasons would people have (who own a PS2 now) to suddenly jump ship with the next generation? Probably not too many. But if the rev is indeed cheap they just might consider getting it as their second console, next to their PS3. That's probably one of the reasons why Ninty decided to go for a small, afordable console. -
Revolution to be cheapest next-gen console
MonkeyPunch replied to Oli1983uk's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Well ofcourse the rev had to be cheaper than the rest, afterall Ninty's is last in the console race and the rev is the weakest next gen console. They said they learned their lesson? Pft they said that 5 years ago aswell and they clearly didn't. -
No I don't think so. I think films can be judged good or bad, just like many other things. You can like for example a new car just by the way it looks but if after two weeks the engine blows up, the tires have worn down completely and the paint comes off it can't be a good car. It's same thing with films but people just don't realise how bad some are. It doesn't mean the film can't be enjoyed though.
-
Oh yes a film can be bad, even if it's really popular. Most people don't even know what makes a film good or bad anyway.
-
The old ones are way overrated but reasonably good. However there's no denying that the newer episodes are really bad. Episodes I, II and III had potential but the performances of the acters is so poor and without soul, it's enough to ruin the films. There are many other reasons why these films are so bad, like the over reliance on CG imagery, bad editing and crap script. I can understand why people love the old trilogy but the new one is just plain bad. It has nothing to do with taste, it just IS a bad. I know a lot of people like Star Wars, it's really popular, but that doesn't mean the films are actually any good.

Yeah that bit is great also! The copy of Ash starts to mock him for being the good guy. The real Ash then puts his shotgun under the copy's nose, saying "I'm not that good", and blows him to pieces. :awesome:

Army of Darkness, perhaps the best film for great one-liners. -Sheila after being transformed in an ugly witch: You found me beautifull once. -Ash: Honey, you got real ugly! -Ash (Bruce Campbell) crushing an iron cup while testing his new mechanical hand: Groovy!
