I think Veidt is right to have acted as he did for one reason: Dr Manhattan. Basically, the way I see it is that through the politicisation and weaponisation of what basically amounts to Godhood, the United States creates an environment in which political reasoning no longer applies to Nuclear War. Armageddon is therefore inevitable as peace is impossible. I love how it all comes down to the Masked Hero myth created by The Minutemen- If they hadn't become part of the national psychology, America would have never coined the idea of Dr Manhattan as 'Superman'. Osterman *should* have become an apolitical force for peace, existing without loyalties to fickle notions of nationhood but instead became an excuse for war that was insurmountable by any other means than Veidt's alien.

I don't take that ending as set in stone myself. The composition of the frame hints at it, but doesn't confirm. Also, there's no certainty that the story would be believed anyway.

haahaaha I just read Invincible Vol.3 (thanks, shorty!) absoloutely fucking wicked. Everything about this book just fills me with happiness. The writing, the twists, characters, art, colours...everything. Even the bloody panel layout is amazing. Hell, the captions! Just amazing. I really need vol 4. It's out, right? tell me it's out...

Yesterday was good. Went down to London, had a terrifying interview for a Civil Service training scheme then, woo! met Daft for lunch (awesomeo burger and milkshake in an American theme diner:o) and a couple of drinks in Covent Garden. absolutely fucked when I got home mind. Just slept like a king.

The Ghilbi dubs are actually pretty excellent. I find the idea that you HAVE to watch it in a language you don't understand laughably snobbish anyway but in those films it's irrelevant anyway: proper actors like Christian Bale and Mini Driver make the dubs as good as any Disney film made in English.
