The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion GOTY Edition The Orange Box Halo 3 - I don't actually like the game as much as certain other 360 games, but it's the only one that EVERYONE owns. As a result i won't part with it, it's the only game i still play on Live. Ok, admittedly i actually own the first 2 on PC, but the idea is the same. If i had them on 360 instead then i wouldn't part with them. Ever.

But people like to vote for the winning party! It gives them a warm fuzzy feeling inside to think that they guessed right :p I must admit though, i did like Blair. He was the only inspirational political leader we've had in the past 15-20 years. The only other person i've thought of as worth voting for is Charles Kennedy. I was really annoyed with the way the media dragged him through the gutter for being an alcoholic. It's pretty symbolic of why so few people go in to politics these days, you're under payed, over worked and at the end of the day the media trudge through you're personal life and rip it to pieces. Much better and safer to work you're way up the corporate ladder, you get payed more, the company look after you and nobody cares what you do outside of 9-5 Monday-Friday. IMO this country is in desperate need of an inspirational political leader, the whole system needs a good shake up. Unfortunately who's left to do that? The names are pretty thin on the ground...

What i'd do is spend £600 on a desktop and get an EeePC for notes and stuff. You get the best of both worlds and you'll have a monitor to plug you're 360 in to, saving you money on a TV

Rest in peace, Robert

The next one will be portable, probably on the DS

Should be getting a Wii this weekend, this will be one of the games i buy. My question: What is the best gun shell? I'd be looking for something that has a bit of weight to it, not some flimsy piece of plastic. An assault rifle is preferable, but if there aren't any good ones then a handgun will do fine.

I've only just realised this is out this weekend! I guess it is time for me to buy a Wii! I'll wait til the weekend, staff discount should *hopefully* be going up to 15% for Easter

XBox 360 Price Cut - I wonder if this will influence the Wii Price...

Do people ever click links :p At the end of 2006 Microsoft were taking $75.70 (minus the cost of shipping to the retailers) on every 360 sold. That was at a retail price of $399. It's pretty safe to say that after yet another hardware revision they will be making comfortable profit on a £200 retail price, even after incurring the costs of shipping the consoles to Europe. Regardless, would they actually be desperate enough to increase hardware sales that they would consider turning profit in to loss? They aren't exactly doing badly in the UK (mainland Europe is, of course, a different story). -
They were part of Rare, yes. Chances of them ever working closely with Nintendo or being bought over by them are pretty slim though, the guys who own FRD had a falling out with the Stamper Brothers and Nintendo. Thats the reason why they (and other key team members) left, and probably quite a large part in why Rare got sold off...

Well here's 2 models for you to keep an eye on: http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/index~modelcode~TOS-20W330DB~dept~ctv~subdept~LCDTV~brand~toshiba.htm http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/index~modelcode~SHA-LC20AD5E~dept~ctv~subdept~LCDTV~brand~sharp.htm The Sharp is really good. The problem with most TVs under 26" is they are basically computer monitors with a TV tuner strapped to the back and a remote control. Basically they run at PC Monitor resolutions (usually 1440x900). This means HD stuff is stretched to them, really not worth £200-£250 of anyone's money. Those 2 models are of the minority, in that they run in 720p. See what i meant by expensive? I'd go for the Sharp, £270 on Amazon.co.uk and it's apparently a very good set.

Simple, i don't agree with the government policy that gives away all this free stuff. I don't agree with it for the very reasons that others have stated in this thread, people don't need it. If a £200 laptop will do the job then they should have that, not a £2000 cheque! Basically I like the idea, but the way it's implemented sucks. Believing that and then taking a grant for computer equipment that i don't need would be pretty hypocritical And the idea of a dog-eat-dog world isn't taking what you can get, it's earning you're place at the top by working harder than everyone else. What you describe is the lowly belief of the useless bums that are pulling this country down Benefits are there to help people get on in life, whether it be laptops for students with learning difficulties or job seekers allowance. They're there to give you a fighting chance to be the best you can be, they aren't there to make peoples lives more comfortable...

There's a lot more to it than Hack & Slash. The point is to make the moves look good, flowing from one enemy to another, to another and so on. You can complete the game by spazzing on the Y button (triangle on PS3?) but it would be boring as hell! I suppose it's not everyones thing though. I admit i have no enthusiasm to play it through again, gonna trade it in soon methinks

XBox 360 Price Cut - I wonder if this will influence the Wii Price...

My bad, they were losing money for the first year, then started to turn a profit on hardware in November 2006. Source: http://www.techspot.com/news/23612-microsoft-makes-tiny-profit-on-xbox-360-hardware.html They probably are making a profit still, they've had another hardware revision since then and have a 3rd lined up for this summer. Each time they are cutting the manufacturing cost and increasing the stability of the console. I've got to wonder how cheap the 360 will get when they have the CPU and GPU on a single chip? £100? -
You don't find it fun in any way?

http://www.avforums.com You'll get an answer there, it's not really anyone on here's forte (as far as i know)

If you'd use the HSDPA connection then the Sony. There's always this too: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/170232/ Not sure when it will arrive over here though. I'd think it'll be about £1700 once the stores get a hold of it, rather than the £1700 + VAT of the RRP. It's basically Lenovo's take on the Macbook Air, only it has more USB ports, a DVD Drive, HSDPA, Wireless N and an SSD (although it is slightly larger and heavier)

I've got the same, got me extra time in my exams (which i genuinely needed, Dyspraxia can affect writing speed). Thats the ONLY help i've ever had though, i was offered a laptop and all sorts of other help but i turned it down because i didn't need it. At the end of the day the only help i ever want is the bare minimum to help me compete, i turned down anything that would give me an unfair advantage. Not criticizing you though, everyone makes they're own choices. I'm not even sure mine were the right ones

You're not buying til the summer are you? Look around about May/June time, thats the low season for electrical sales. Prices tend to fall from Christmas right the way through to the end of May, then they start to rise again through July, all the way up to Christmas. You'll probably be looking at around £300 for a good 26" and sub-£400 for 32". Smaller than that the prices tend to be crappy As others have said, if that out of you're budget then a PC monitor is the next best thing. That, or a 28" or larger CRT.

XBox 360 Price Cut - I wonder if this will influence the Wii Price...
McPhee replied to ghost_zero's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Im pretty sure they never made a loss of Xbox 360 sales. The margin was small, but they've always kept it in profit. This will be no different, they've been reducing they're costs considerably with each revision. All they need now is to get a stable and quiet version of the console and they might be ready for launch! (oh, wait...) -
I'd wouldn't say Rare are that bad! Viva Pinatta was great, Kameo was good, and PD Zero was reasonable for a console shooter, though not a patch on the origional. They're output is still better than most developers out there, and they seem to be getting back on they're toes. Banjo Kazooie 3 will be the big test, if they screw that up then they're reputation is down the pan.

There's that problem, and it's also quite badly made. The casing feels cheap, the phone is very light and the back cover is liable to breaking. It's not terrible, but it's certainly not worth £150+ of anyones money. When i had the cance to use it i really wasn't impressed, it didn't seem as good as the W810i, and there's about £100 between them

XBox 360 Price Cut - I wonder if this will influence the Wii Price...
McPhee replied to ghost_zero's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I can't see it happening yet, maybe when the next price drop comes. Core for £100 would give Nintendo something to think about. On a side note, has anyone else noticed that Wii's seem to be easy to get hold of now? At work the sales have actually dropped to the point where we never run out of units. The rest of the town seems to be in a similar situation. Im guessing this is nationwide? The bundles in shops like Game and Gamestation seem to be getting better and there's rather a lot of 2nd hand Wii's popping up, both of which indicate that the sales are dropping a bit.
