  1. Well Holden was an embodiment of the things he himself hated most, so I don't think it would be too positive. Although he always struck me as the type of guy who I'd like to have a drink with, being so neurotic that he would make me feel better about my own awful shit
  2. I thought this was a thread about ReZ.

    Crysis 2

Mad Monkey does like to throw half baked ideas out there, reliant on typical forum conjecture, without any real need to substantiate his claims. I think Crysis 2 is phenominal, and definitely one of the most interesting shooters I've played for a while, owing not in small part to the customisability of weapons and the fact that any given enemy encounter can be approached in a myriad of ways. And I don't this in the way that they used to marked games with Havok physics, where they'd tell you that everytime you shoot an enemy he'll fall a different way thus its a different game every time you play. Here I mean, literally, it does what the original failed to, because it didn't really require you to be creative, and instead, if you just go in guns blazing, the pretty fuckin coordinated enemy masses will come down on you like a ton of bricks. Can't wait to get some more playtime with the thing, so far only played for abooot two hours on a mates PC.
  4. Dude, way. When I got home and checked my bag I was ready to rip my own testicles off, sprinted weeping back to the train station, and they'd got no wind of any lost property, so I guess some fucker got him/her self a brand new 3DS. Although it came with a copy of Rayman 3D so he'll probably go insane/blind trying to play the damn thing.
  5. This probably wins thread: I got my 3DS nicked out of my bag while on the train from London to Manchester. But then I bought another one.
  6. Low-carb diets. Michael Moore. The Republican National Convention. Kabbalah and all Kabbalah-related products. Hi-def TV, the Bush daughters, wireless hot spots, 'The O.C.', the U.N., recycling, getting Punk'd, Danny Gans, the Latin Grammys, the real Grammys. Jeff, that Wiggle who sleeps too darn much! The Yankees payroll, all the red states, all the blue states, every hybrid car, every talk show host! Everything on the planet, everything in the solar system, everything everything everything everything everything everything - eve - everything that exists - past, present and future, in all discovered and undiscovered dimensions. Oh! And Hugh Jackman.
  7. Are you fucking kidding me? Which HMV. There's two on Oxford Street alone. I think I'll be there, may see ya in the line dawg.
  8. Well, I've completed Resi 4 over 10 times, which is getting into the territory of a religious observance. I hope they do more to Code Veronica rather than just render it in HD visuals, since that game will be damn near unplayable with the control scheme it had for the Dreamcast and PS2 versions.
  9. Dyson, you make me sad. I thought you were cool
  10. Jesus. I'm going to need some very potent amphetamines if I'm to see all the bands I want to at Sonisphere.
  11. Can't wait for new SebastiaAn, its gonna be incredible.
  12. I'm generally not a fan of American sitcoms (with the noted exception of Scrubs, which I do think is quite fantastic, or was, in its prime) so its credit to the fact that Frasier has been pretty exceptional so far. Is Cheers worth a go then? My dad used to love it, which of course, made me avoid it instinctually.
  13. This is well shit. Buchanan can suck a pickled anus, that paper mache and glue cereal bowl fell apart all over my crotch and gave me food poisoning.
  14. Just thought I'd sneakily resurrect this thread, since I just, on a whim have started watching the show, and its incredible. Watched the entire first season in less than a week, and I'm a little into season two at the moment. So many amazing scenarios contrived from a couple of settings. Just watched the episode where Frasier unwittingly asks his new station manager out on a date, with the intended ulterior motive of finding one for Daphne. The show is ultimately so great for me because all the characters are loveable, without being shallow. Am I pretty much tip of the iceberg, or does the series go downhill at some point? And in following with this, what are your favourite seasons?
  15. I just saw an advert for Rift that said "You're not in Azeroth any more." It's really funny that they would advertise an mmo with a byline referencing World of Warcraft, just goes to show that theres very little they can do to escape it.
  16. Company of Heroes.
  17. Hmm. I'm scrolling through Shawn Elliott's twitter feed as I often do when I see a response to one Rob Burgess. We keep running into each other randomly on the internet. Good taste though ;)

    Crysis 2

The multiplayer is being developed by Crytek UK (previously known as Free Radical...) and to be honest, I'm not much of a fan of what I've played via the 360 demo. The input lag is fucking insane, especially considering how much of a twitch shooter the original game was. I assume it won't be the same on the PC side of things. Its a game that rewards you for going out of your way to experiment, but otherwise doesn't really force you to do much; it can be completed by just running through the game with a rifle shooting enemies point blank, but it gets fun when you start to switch up your tactics. Its a game whose physics and graphics really make the gameplay. For example, where a hut in any other game with destructable environments would basically switch between two models, one in its normal state, and one in its destroyed state, what happens in crysis is that every piece of the hut is individually modelled, physics and all. So you could have amazing fun doing things like strapping explosives to the structural supports of the hut, allowing the enemy to see you, and then cloaking and sneaking out back, only to blow the place sky high, and seeing the roof collapse on the enemies that you lured in there. Like, I said, inventive.

    Portal 2

Anyone else worried about the length of this game? The original game was so perfect precisely because it was so well contained and short, and didn't outstay its welcome. I can imagine anything which is just a lengthy string of puzzles to become tedious after a while. Just minor trepidation though which doesn't really detract from my excitement =D
  20. You played Ilomilo? Shit puts a smile on my face.
  21. Yeah I found this pretty cool place ages ago from whence I obtain all manner of delectable goodies for my audiovisual pleasure. Its called The Pirate Bay.
  22. I assume that you "care," because you've gained initiation into the tattoo club by virtue of having tattoos. Social identity theory: you care about people that you have a definitive point of convergence with in terms of interests. I keep photos, but I don't pin them to my skin. Also, I can tear them up, burn them, stick em in the wank bank. Whatever I want. I suppose you could remove tattoos, but then you'd have to spend a few weeks in the burn ward. Then theres what I said about composition; photographs are self contained, they don't tend to be visual appendages awkwardly misplaced on an unweildy 3D object. I am not in any way condemning anyone for having tattoos; its up to you, and if it makes you happy, then that's good. I'm just saying that after thinking about it, I can't come up with any reason for why I would want one, especially being as fickle minded as I am. And I have yet to see a tattoo that I think is worthwhile. Some are cool, sure, but the price of entry doesn't make me think that "cool" is enough of a reason. But then thats just me. As for my lip piercing; I got it because it is essentially meaningless, removable, done drunkenly with youthful and misplaced convictions of what "cool" is. Although I've become somewhat attached to it. I love how when people respond with indignation their responses seem to be limited to "this is not the case." Qualify your beliefs properly goddamnit. Also, chill out. I'm just rambling. Considering its on your bosack, you could have it like one of those Japanese folding fans where you stretch it out and it says something completely different.
  23. This thread is an ode to an unfortunately dying pastime. One of these days, in the near future, people are going to have a tough time explaining the concept of "toys" to children.
  24. In what way? I think HL2 and its episodes are exemplary games, that are pretty much pointing the way for the direction in which gaming should approach its narratives.
  25. I don't hate, I'm just discerning
