I have some pretty rare vinyls (although they will be sold soon). One of them was promo only, limited to 300 copies so pretty rare. A few other promo cds too, like radio rpomo copies, they are rare, but not really of much value apart from anal people like me who want every version of everything by an artist. I have a limited edition signed kasabian print i think they only did a few hundred of too. Theres a few bands who if they make it big i will have some rare EP's. Forever Never are currently the closest to making it big who I have an early EP from.

still 1 left of mine. i dont want to kill the quiz, so i'll give a clue: it is from a bands 7th (possibly last) album and represented a major change frm their previous works. It was nominated for a brit, and won album of the year from a major UK magazine.
-
correct! the song is untitled 8 from sigur ros - ( ) for those of you who couldn't find the list it's on my last.fm page.

saw 2 films today. horton hears a who great casting, stunning animation. finally a film that shows dr. suess's creations in a way he'd like it. i loved it. 9/10 the spiderwick chronicles meh. the kid who played 2 characters was good, and seth rogan turning up was a suprise, but otherwise pretty run of the mill. 6/10

correctamundo gmac. only 2 to go people.

thats about the sea, not the land. It goes round every place in the uk. i'll give you a clue. It starts alphabetically at Aberdeen and ends alphabetically in the Shetlands. tbh Platty i'd have thought you'd be answering the remaining song.
-
right, i'm reopening up the questions, so anyone who's answered already can try their hand again.

Gigantism or giantism, (from Greek gigas, gigantas "giant") is a condition characterized by excessive growth and height significantly above average. As a medical term, gigantism is rarely used to refer to the rare condition of pituitary gigantism due to prepubertal growth hormone excess. There is no precise definition of the degree of height that qualifies a person to be termed a "giant." The term has been typically applied to those whose height is not just in the upper 1% of the population but several standard deviations above mean for persons of the same sex, age, and ethnic ancestry. Typical adult heights of Americans of European descent to whom the term might be applied are 2.25 - 2.40 metres (7'6" - 8 feet). The term is not applied to those whose heights appear to be the healthy result of normal genetics and nutrition. thats what wikipedia thinks. pity, as for a brief moment there I had hoped that at 6'4" i was a giant. Ah well.

nope. look again its amazing how much you can plan when you're bored at work!

good work! get it from knowing the song, or the clue?

as i was doing the quiz I knew you'd be the one to get number 2 correct platty, although I thought you'd porbably know at least 2 others (one of which hasnt been answered) edit: I am little worried that number 6 may be too tricky. It is a band that has been mentioned by someone other than me in the music thread which while doing the quiz I used as the yardstick for the forums musical knowledge. The band is currently supporting a huge band on a world tour, that includes a date at wembley. And if all else fails I deliberately made other ways of finding out the artist possible for that track. As for the final 2 questions, 10 tbh is pretty easy. Just look at my post and think laterally. 9, well you either know it or you dont. I will try and help further by saying it goes round everywhere in the UK only once.
-
thats the idea. if you know, then you'll know. if not then you wont figure it out as they are all a bit weird. everyone so far is correct!

i have a good idea for a round, but it'll take some prep, so i cant do this round, but round after i hope. well, i'll start the prep now and see how long it takes! edit - virtually done, so unless anyone jumps in first/objects, i'll post new questions at 9pm tonight. Right, I think it's done. 10 questions The first 8 are song introductions. The last 2 are just questions. Hopefully ones that aren't googleable! song 1: 1.mp3 - 0.12MB Cube correctly guessed sublime song 2: 2.mp3 - 0.22MB Platty knew it was Kula Shaker song 3: 3.mp3 - 0.24MB Fierce Link correctly guessed Oasis song 4: 5.mp3 - 0.06MB killthenet remembered it was blur song 5: 6.mp3 - 0.26MB jayseven KNEW it was 65daysofstatic song 6: 7.mp3 - 0.18MB Noodleman correctly guessed DJ Shadow. I am wondering if the album art i couldn't remove from the tags helped at all? song 7: 8.mp3 - 0.08MB eddage correctly guessed Mika song 8: 9.mp3 - 0.14MB killthenet correctly guessed Jurassic 5. And got the track too, no bonus i'm afraid, but kudos certainly i only want the artist. question 9: the 2 mark question! What starts in Aberdeen, goes round the entire UK, and ends in the shetlands? gmac worked out its the postcodes, AB Aberdeen to ZE Shetland question 10: According to the only top 10 songs lists I have ever made, what language is my 3rd favourite song sung in? noodleman worked out it's volenska

5) this isn't drawn on in pen. it's cotton wool stuck on with prit stick. it was a fancy dress party at a pub. I was the ONLY one who went in fancy dress, and because the beard was actually glued to my face I have to keep it on. surely thats enough!

just listening to Hercules & Love Affair for the first time. Still only half way through, and I love it. But then what did i expect, Anthony Hegarty is a legend. I listened to Air - Moon Safari for the first time in a bout a year today too. How on earth have I left it so long. The best thing to come from france since cheese and wine.

i spent all day at work today planning my dinner (entirely home made beef stew wtih dumplings), to try and make sure all the ingredients were spot on and working out seasonings etc. the one major flaw i made was forgetting that i wouldnt even get home till 6:30. as a consequence I am only just now sitting down for my meal! on the plus side, it is as good as i hoped, and I have an excellent tv show to accompany it (I have just started watching 6 feet under). Michael C Hall is a legend!

i do ocasional work for a market research company. one job they gave me last year was to conduct questionaires with people at birmingham council arranged christmas events. I think there were only a couple of other people doing the questionaires, and i had about 80% of them. I made up all but about 5 of them - actually about as time consuming as it would have been to do them in real life. I was pleased with the results, I gave universal praise to the Frankfurt Christmas Market. Anyone notice it was there for 2 weeks more this year? I said the christmas grotto behind the bullring was boring. Wasn't there this year. I said the ice rink was ok, it was there for the same ammount of time this year. In other words I gave the people of Birmingham a good christmas this year!
