Xpert Eleven Season 8: Villan still a loser
jayseven replied to Mr_Odwin's topic in General Chit Chat
Checked my progress report - a reasonable minus 4 overall :P Fair enough, considering I didn't do anything this year. I've got no lower than 5th each of my 3 seasons so I guess I'll just aim for that sort of place this season. My team. -
Indeed, morning-after Pizza is Win. I have £8.50 to 'last' 'til november and pizza for breakfast/lunch/dinner helps a little. No doubt I'll be heading to the bank tomorrow, anyway. Been playing some rainbow 6 vegas 2. Getting quite into it, despite being shite and dying all the time. I have a meeting with my supervising tutor tomorrow so at some point I'm going to have to write up a few short segments of my novel idea tonight. Preferrably after shorty and nami get home and we all get pissed and scare the neighbours. Been missing that Uni! Still on modernism but we largely looked at feminism, which looks to be rather damn easy, though I really, really need to read way more each week. Next week for that module is Orwell Keep the Asphididraahirisdfaadf flying. Boo ya. Arab Freak: I don't know how US courses are structured. Will you be missing out on much if you leap straight into the first year? here in the UK you'd techinically still be entitled to as good a degree as anyone else, you just miss out on the 'foundation' modules. Eenuh; Sorry to hear about your kitty. Any idea who did it? Ganepark (you should really just drop the numbers...); yeahp, autumn is creeping in! Rain blasting any hopes for the day from the depths of your bones. nightwolf; how about a name reflecting the spell teh witch casts, or the themes of the puzzles? Hallow'een (hallowe'en? can't be arsed to check) might just lead to clichés. "Pumpkin Juice" :S "Pumpkindigo (it's a purple pumpkin, y'see. I don't know. I like pumpkins. I'm going to stop now)

We do acrobalance at our juggling society, which utilises the techniques you'll know. All rather serene in the face of whizzing and airbourne objects zooming around them
-
That was awful. Rubbish. Poo.
-
You seriously asking me? Check my OP again, last paragraph :P
-
So I'm the resident juggler, amirite?
-
But don't forget, you've never met moogleviper so you shouldn't really trust a word he says.

So you're saying that yes, the government lies but it's ok because they're definitely doing it for good reasons. I'm saying that yes, the government lies but it's not ok because they're doing it for reasons that we will never know. We will never be able to judge for ourselves whether their lies were appropriate or necessary, unlike those examples you listed about death and sex. You're saying that because covering up the truth is commonplace that it is acceptable. I'm saying that because it is commonplace we should question the world we live in. I'm saying that capitalism is all about lies! Profit comes from veiling the truth, and we've come to accept that it's alright -- that it's ok for a company to produce good x at price y and then sell it for price z. For no reason at all. Just money. We've come to accept that these people are not people; the person who grew your potato doesn't matter. How much they get paid doesn't matter. All that matters is that you are happy being fooled into paying inflated prices on goods in order to keep the glorious, ever-bettering society running because, of course, today is shit, yesterday is shitter, all we have it the future! I'm saying a lot of things. Not all of them I can put into words so quickly... I just hate people who have the choice not to be ignorant yet choose to remain so. *crumbles*

You're not supposed to do that :P You're doing something like this; , where you're effectively passing the 2nd ball from one hand to the other rather than throwing it in the air. You don't need to pass other balls before one comes down. check this page and it gives you a quick run-down.
-
Yeah but that's really not the point. The point is that they aren't always honest with us. Isn't that, like, a rather fucking massive thing?

SO! Can anyone here juggle? Poi? Diabolo? I've been juggling for two years(ish), still on three balls. here is a site with some animated gifs which can help you learn how to juggle 3 balls. Below are animated gifs and links to videos of the tricks I've recently learned.. They are from kingscascade.com, which gives step-by-step tutorials on how to perform the tricks. Mill's mess; (http://www.kingscascade.com/3BallMillsMess.wmv) The robot; (http://www.kingscascade.com/3BallRobot.wmv) There's another trick that I can't find/don't know the name of, which like tennis where you have one ball sailing over teh top continuously, then with the other two you alternate between cascade/reverse cascade with each hand. Looks neat. Tricks I want to master, but will take me forever; Fountain; (http://www.kingscascade.com/4BallFountain.wmv) Burke's Barrage; (http://www.kingscascade.com/3BallBurkesBarrage.wmv) Rubenstein's Revenge; (http://www.kingscascade.com/3BallRubensteinsRevenge.wmv) I can also poi; mostly weaves and butterflies. With the diabolo I can't do too many toss tricks, but I can do some trapezes, cradles and suicides. Recently I've turned my hand at staff, baton twirling, hula hoops and devil sticks. All good fun in their own right. I'm scared of attempting to juggle with clubs! So... yeah? Any interest, or should I've not bothered?

Guys! King_V is cleraly into the whole "I think, therefore I am ... but as for everything else, how can I truly know if they exist or not?" school of thinking. It's quite powerful to think this way but, as DCK said, dangerous to wobble too close to the paranoia side of things. I agree that there is no way we're always getting the 100% honest truth from the media, or the government. They operate 'in our best interests' which is why nobody ever turned round and went "well shit, iraq isn't going so well - sorry we went in teh first place! Shit, I got all these people killed. Sorry about that too! I guess I'll step down and let some other, equally honest, person take my place, yeah?" Just watch the news and all you get is some 'factual' account of an event which does nothing but dehumanise, villainise and alienate people in the news stories that are more about entertainment than information. I mean who needs to know half the news on TV? Isn't most of it just something to talk about to people down the pub? I mean it's not like there's much we can do about it anyway. There was a picture taken years ago that won some-sort-of-best-image-ever-of-the-year competition thing. It was about some refugee camp in africa someplace, and basically there were all these skinny black guys standing at a chickenwire fence looking very solemn. Everyone thought "wow, these guys have it harsh" and then a few years later someone asked the question "... but which side of the fence are they on?" ... and how can you prove either way? It's only a small point... Well how about when there's some court case, and you get the reporters standing outside the courts... when in actual fact there's nobody in court that day? Sure, it's just for context, barely a white lie! But just... just thinking about the information we receive is important. Meh, etc.

Yarr. Went out last night t'pub with a few folk. Dan and his merry men appeared at some point, and I managed to meet gARY gREATIE *adds to list* and everything! Swollen glands made drinking a painful experience, too. a genial night out, I'd say! Woken early as a buddy from brighton's been texting me, so I guess I'll battlestar-it-up for a bit, then get some reading in.

Stoopid disappearing post. Got home to discover my face going itchy/numb/explodey. Annoying partly because of all the things I ate yesterday, I had to eat 'all-u-can-eat', thus probably sampling every type of food that could set-off an allergy that there is. I really want to get shitfaced now. Problems; not everyone is going out, and I have low funds, and swollen glands, and might get killer rash later. Staying in; I have two cans and a litre and a half of cider, but nobody to come drink with me and my internet doesn't seem to want to play along. But I do want to go chill/manic with dan and his uni pals. A mate I've not spoken to for a bit asked if I want to go for a drink, as she's had some times to stew alone with her (cheating-wife-beating-)boyfriend and the advice-she-never-takes that we all gave her, so it's time for an update. Perhaps I xbox-it-up? Tum-ti-tum.

Did not sleep well. Got some crazy gland-swelling going on, which hurts like heck each time I swallow or breathe. Need some chicken soup! In a cup! Gonna go home and watch battlestar galactica all day, methinks. Try and recouperate for this evening! The End. If you like you can send your essay over to me and I can give it a once-over for you?

I thought it was hilarious :P just back from watching WithtailNAIL & I at the cinema. Love that movie. Did only manage to drink 1 1/2 cans that I took it, but hey ho. Tomorrow..? Some sort of productivity/waste day watching Battlestar Galactica. Seen teh first one/two 'pilot' episodes and liking most of it already. Not been as unpredictable as people have said yet, but rather entertaining! I am in need of a spliff so I can get started with my creative writing portfolio. Fo sho'.

So why did you spend the next 30 years before you acted upon it? Not meant as a rousing question, just an honest inquiry.

Indeed. But the psychological research into the whole area is very interesting. Many individuals find that they do not accept who they 'are' (be it determined by their parents, who, despite what I seem to read in-between your words, aren't doing anything maliciously. How can you tell whether a day-old baby is more gendered one way or the other?) and desire to be the opposite sex, regardless of how right/wrong parents are. I don't think I can get my point across properly to be honest. I just find it curious that, as you say, the majority of hermaphradites end up changing their gender when they get old enough to take take responsibility of their own life. etc.

Xpert Eleven Season 8: Villan still a loser
jayseven replied to Mr_Odwin's topic in General Chit Chat
I'll bingo-bango. -
Plenty of halls-related anecdotes involving notes all over the place with "it's well skank" on, left by our flatmates. Bins with mould that were put outside and 'washed' from two floors up. Stolen food, broken glass, turned-off fridges, mess, mess, mess (and I wasn't innocent), broken or lost keys, police, squatters... To be honest it largely sucked at the time but in retrospect it was a rather fun year, full of unexpectable moments that you just don't get anymore. You'll cry now, but you'll laugh later!
