Dan; uh... yes :| Presuming the rips are acceptible filetypes recognised by your media centre. DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhh (For the record, I have no idea, I just really want dan to be proven a noob on this) - Mates! I'm about 3/4 through Dead Space, and I have to say it's been a while since I've been so frustrated by a game repeatedly! I'm not finding the game scary at all. I essentially cannot conserve health/ammo at all, so each room, now, is basically me dying a few times trying to do what I want to do. The kintetic ability is annoying me because it likes to pick up little cups rather than massive crates that I can use to shunt enemies into gravshift things. The guns are annoying me because I can't afford the good ones and I haven't focused on upgrading just one gun. The controls annoy me because you can't run while using kinetic, you can't run while reloading and the stomp move is not hugely accurate. But mostly it's the lack of ammo. There's simply no room for strategy when I have to use all of my ammo to clear pretty much any room. I guess I should play it properly and, like, try to avoid conflict as much as possible, but most rooms now seem to make that impossible, so I have no choice. I'm going to finish it tonight, then play through on the easier difficulty simply to up my guns, and hopefully enjoy the game a bit more. But the game really isn't scary. It's hugely predictable, really. EDIT: although a nice glitch is that often the enemies can't run through open doors, so you can just let them group up there and pick them off without, at least, having to worry about the health stuff. I guess I just suck at gaming.

RE: the 'use of english; yeah, that's fine. You shouldn't really get on a soap box about that topic, mind you :P

Yesterday I went to acronym-girl's house. She cooked spag bol, provided booze, beat me at backgammon (but lost at chess), and we spent a few hours in her room talking Deep Serious Shit. Remember how I said I loved how graceful she walked, and how she held herself? Well now I know why, and it was mind-blowing secret-type news that I can never tell anyone, so inurface. But I'm totally in friends zone here. Was an hour late for work again. Should really, like, look at my diary.

Yeah 30pts is for your first 10-batch, now. One 'new bish' until 3 people have done your old one (I may as well just change that to "one new bish when someone has done your old one" though...)

By 'reason' I mean 'a capacity to extrapolite potential future outcomes to any action or inaction' so no, those things you list just add to the fire.

No. Stoic implies some sort of reasoned purpose to the silence. Chavs do not have reason.

Ok, I was facing a similar situation to the last few posts; I'd put in maybe 20 hours gameplay - I was focused on the exploring rather than simply following through the main storylines, so often I'd be coming up against enemies I was too weak to defeat, then I'd have to re-load and approach in some sort of gamebreaking way that squeezed all teh fun out of the experience. At some point I basically went from medium difficulty to easiest, and got on with the storyline. I found the combat situations less infuriating (it was taking me days to get from A to B) and the rapid acceleration through the storyline taught me how I was supposed to be playing -- I started to realise when I could afford to go off and explore, rather than saying to myself "i'll go visit this corner of the map, then get back to the game" (only to be side-tracked a gazillion times by anything and everything I'd encounter along the way) I'd allow the game to open up the map to me as I went. Plus Megaton is possibly my least favourite part/place of the whole map. Besides Andy the android (a nod to The Dark Tower), the place is irrelevant to me. Do The Bad Thing to the place, go watch it from Twopenny Towers, and you'll feel a lot better (plus you might well "woah"... But my point was; I forced myself through about 20 hours of the game (probably four longish, late-night sessions of teh game) and then gave up for a few months. The reason people are foaming at the mouth for this game is simply because it does get better, and it really is one of the best games of this generation/ever. Like The Wire for TV shows, you do have to commit more of your time than you normally would with a game before it gets good. (long post, sorry)

Why can't you host, dan? :P

If the dares can be photographic, too, then I can see this being more fun - but yes, there should be some sort of blood in, blood out pact to ensure cooperation amongst players.

Where do you work, Cube? I wear one pair of shoes to work and change when I get there. The weather's making me thing I need to start worrying about taking a change of trousers and top to work, too, though. Since I got back from work, I've spent my hours watching Fringe, meaning to play Dead Space for a bit before bed, too, but it's getting to the hour where if I start playing I won't stop 'til 2 - and I've gotten into the habit of reading for an hour before shut-eye in order to soothe my thoughts... Got work at 10 tomorrow for a 5-hour shift, then this non-date with HGWHUGUGAHEDGHIDFJNEVKCBASDKFAW; backgammon, cider and spag bol. While I still harbour desires for the lass, my overruling hope is that I'll find a cool new friend in her. Thus my daily insufficient doings, laid out once more, do little but echo yesterday and the day before and the day before. Winter seems to me like a time when change is impossible, when routine is forced upon you by the short-lived sun, where you simply hold on until the hours stretch again, when more is possible.

Moved the thread because - as Ashley says, it's not a creative gallery kinda concept.

Yes! And the black-and-white ep with dracula (can't remember the details :P). Great tv. I think I've found a new show to vent with; Ganglands - a documentary series on... er... some american docu channel. First episode is about teh "Aryan Brotherhood" - a prison gang notorious for being generally very violent and bastardly. Scary, not-for-the-easily-offended type footage of real-life stabbings, stompings, s-maimings, and all glammed up hollywood-style with a deep-throat narrator making it all seem that much more like entertainment than reality, like how you can sit and watch America's Wildest Police Chases and have a chuckle - but still there's that visceral side to it, only cushioned by the safety of well I'm not in a prison, soo.... Although future episodes deal with other gangs in other scenarios, I'm sure I've found a winner. *goes off to watch more butchery*- 3920 replies

episode 7 Damn. alreadyghosts.com just redirects to abc's flashforward site. Potential awesome fail. Though I guess abc don't want to be seen to be encouraging 'death clubs'. So that was definitely teh best episode so far. has finally concreted the idea of hope. Some of the other storylines are still lacking in 'oomph', but there's enough mystery around to keep the show entertaining.

I may extend it :P Bluetooth on my phone, but not on my laptop!

Got a cameraphone but it refuses to connect to my computer. For the last bish I actually took about 25-30 pics but couldn't get them uploaded. I think I have a couple of friends who would be willing to go BISHing with me, and I'm sure they have a proper camera -- turned weather is a shame. If it happens it won't be til late next week, and I can't even remember when I said this'd be over...

Word! So true. Although it seems many of the people who 'signed up' don't have a camera (me, chair, paj)...

First time I played Bioshock, I thought it was somehow bad to be resurrected into one of those biochamber things, so I kept reloading, and basically it pissed me off massively. I think I played about 6 hours, then left it for 6 months, then started again and couldn't put it down. That's happened to me with so many games - Fallout 3, Condemned, Assassin's Creed (ok so not 'so many' but it's off the top of my head).

You sure you have enough boxes and tvees? It would be more economical for dan to go to chris and nikki's in that sense as it's closer for him. I think I need one of you lot to organise it, as I'll be the one sans game
-
I think the game was intended not for you to strictly follow one code of morality or the other - that's just the achievements channeling you! I did some bad things, but mostly good on my play-through, depending on my general mood at the time. I hear you! 80ish hours was my tally as well, and I wanted to get some of the other achievements but... Well I'd just run a marathon after thinking it would be a short cross-country dash, and now I know what I'm in for it is harder to commit myself to such time. But it's been ages since I've played, to the point where I still have rough memories of areas ingrained but a play-through would largely be nostalgic.

My own personal take on this thread; I'm not going to spam the inboxes of my friends and family because I'm pretty sure they all know what maddie looks like, so if they saw her they'd tell someone. I don't think my particular 'network' of people will help expand this campaign any farther. I think it's only true, though, that I (and you!) would care more if it was someone I knew who went missing. There's nothing wrong with saying that, it's just a fact.

Well if you decide at some point, gimme a hint :P I finish work by 3 and would love a pint or two. -- Been booking my tickets today. Got the train home sorted, but for some reason the second leg of my journey home is providing hasslesome. Got my coach from home to london (£5!), but megabus is saying my card issuer is declining payment for my trip from london to sheffield (£2!) so... I may have to simply wait 'til I get home and get my folks to help out with the payment.

Supernatural S05e08 One of the best episodes ever, if you ask me! I found myself chuckling a fair few times. The duo face The Trickster again, only this time he's cooped them up in 'tv land', so they skit from parody to parody of several of our favourite TV shows. Very referential, and self- as well. The last two were definitely the best, but they all had me grinning. The Trickster's true identity really adds weight to the whole season's movement, and the look he gave Cass at the end gave the whole drama some depth. I'd say this is probably the best season yet.- 3920 replies
