I love how Flashforward is totally making the British Villain the In Thing again. But wait- what -- did I miss teh part where bearded alcoholic's daughter returned? I am very confusd. Did I miss an episode since the suicide? Anyway - why the hell do that 'winner takes all' bit? So idiot. Charlie-from-lost had about 1000 times the amount of chips. Such a ridiculous moment. NEW BAD GUY MOMENT. Seven of them. Etc. I dunno - not a great follow-up episode, but I guess they need to fill-out the whole 'there's an enemy' lore, so despite these weak foundations I think the future episodes can promise MOAR. That's a strong theme of this show, actually -- "the future promises stuff!" rather than "each episode is totally awesome!" Unfortunately I'm the sort of person who rarely completely gives up on a show, but a more stable individual might've been tempted by this episode. Apparantly next week's episode is the last listed on IMDB. That means an xmas break rather than the end of the season, right?

Oh, more than you would ever believe.

According to a new facebook application thing, I spend 8 and a third hours a day there... so, uh... add to that 8 hours a day getting to work, working, and getting home, and at least 6 hours of sleep, I guess I spend 2 hours eating, pooping and masturbating.

I'm very glad of your reply! I've said this before, but only because it is something you repeatedly do -- that is, post the same video in several locations, which is unnecessary. I understand you want to reach as maximum an audience as possible, but when the user-groups "cross-over" between your target areas surmounts to a greater number than the smaller numbers of each sect that you are aiming to pick up, then it's worthless, and becomes more annoying than productive. Yes, I appreciate that the above paragraph was massively unclear. Sorry. I agree that the creative board doesn't get much attention, but the way to not be a part of the solution is to be a part of the problem; by altering the idea so it fits gen chit-chat. By posting merely links to your thread in this board you're more likely to get memebers to have a gander at other threads here on their way out. That's the only way to increase the popularity of this place. LONG THREAD OMG, yes, but I've always felt that this board has been hugely underused. I am drunk (excuse) so I don't apologise for the rambles.

ReZ; you need to tone down the amount of self-promotion. Don't post the same video in a tonne of different threads, ok? In future (e.g. when you post ep.2) post a link to the first place you've posted the video. If you post is only a link to the vid, or if it's obvious that you just made the post in order to further promote the vid, then I'll delete it. Kai?

(to be fair - I liked it. Instead of salt it should be cheese, though. Mostly because you're wrong about the salt-stuff. Bring back the lego stop-motion shorts too. Plus you kinda proved you don't always wear that hat anymore. You also pointed teh wrong way at the end, right?)

Are violent video games damaging to society?
jayseven replied to flameboy's topic in General Chit Chat
Dan; you are talking about the "can videogames make you cry?" type level of emotional involvement with a game. It's an illegitimate argument to try and deny that games are a positive anger outlet, so while they aren't (yet?) able to manipulate our feelings as much as a book or a movie (I think all that button pressing uses up all the vital parts of our brain for that :P), they're still trying very hard to involve us at such a level. Goafer; that's a bit of a cop-out, though. You're almost saying that the uproar is fine, because it's up to the game creators to inform the audience an 18 certificate means it is only suitable for 18 year olds. The entire certification system is in place to forgo any such liability. As a kid I was allowed to watch 18-rated movies only if my parents had watched it already. That parents don't do the same with a game, especially when it comes labelled with the same 18 circle thing is not the creator's fault. If it comes down to a lack of informed parental guidance, then that should be the focus of any such show on teh subject. To interject myself- Dan, you mention playing a game so violent that you didn't want to re-enact such a scene... well there are plenty of movies that offer teh same visceral experience. Your anecdote only serves to further point out thatthe game has an 18 certificate. As for teh actual topic question thing; if someone ever blames a game/movie/book/song for their actions then you can fairly safely say that they were waiting for the right trigger to behave as they did, and that if it wasn't this source-of-entertainment today, it may well be that s-o-e tomorrow. If video games were really harmful, we'd be living in a world where fight-club meets battle royale, only, I suppose, a bit more referential to games I guess. -
Work was more of teh same "I think they like me" stuff. That was my day. Not in 'til 5.45 tomorrow so I'm gonna drink heavily, watch flashforward and smallville and play some ecks bocks until I get depressed. And steph; no, not said a word to her since (if that's what you meant by me doing nothing -- I do loads at work!) - but I think I'll get drunk and act a twat if she comes online tonight :P

By train it's from sheff to st. pancras, then from there's a few stops to st.albans. Takes about 2 and a half hours... But, uhhh... anyone travelling from teh north is going to have a right hard time getting there for that sort of time. Plus travelling back is more stuff. As has been said, to all whiners and complainers, if you want a meet-up somewhere local then organise it yourself. Simply pick a date/time/location as ReZ has done, and then people will be able to say yay/nay. There's no way to make everyone happy. Basically I doubt I'll be able to head down. Even if I could crash somewhere, I'd be losing two work-days, at least, and I need to turn up every day simply to ensure I keep the job. Sheffield [mega]meet for the win. So... Sunday 20th December Sheffield Meet at sheffield train station. Fun and shit to occur thenceforth. Who's with me?

Yeah, you're right. That's what I was trying to argue -- it's a play-by-play thing atm. Today = work (where I mad-delegated like crazy), then shorty's place for some catalan, then fail as shorty spilled his drink on the board, then torch-led journey home, and now contemplating watching flashforward and/or/neither smallville before bed. Long shift again tomorrow.

Went for a nice few drinks with my close buddies. I think I scared them with my apathetic approach to death. Not enough to demand a suicide watch. So that's good? Work is at 11.30am tomorrow. I figure I'll get more-pissed while I watch Flashforward and Supernatural, and hopefully naturally conk out. My friends think I should basically non-stop assault HGAW until she caves. They're right in the sense that I have given up hope there, but I don't find it easy to think they can possibly be more right than me when it comes to any decision with my life. Therefore I choose to sit back and watch it go one way, only for her to tell me she "really liked me at the time" in a few months. Going to shorty and nami's tomorrow night for a few hours, and am looking forward to it here's hoping work is a doddle.

I hate it when it rains on a friday night. Especially when I have work saturday morning. Makes it. Wet and expensive night out, or sad and lonely (but dry and cheap!) night in? Currently heading towards a compromise. HGAW was supposed to text me before I finished work with plans for tonight. Instead about 30 mins after I finish work, mate who spends half the week in derby and most weekends here with his gf (juggling president) invited me out to a local pub (at 8). I say, yeah, cool, but not for long as i got work early, etc. Then HGAW texts me at 7 saying I can come over if I like. Tsk.

No game for meee... grumblegrumble :P Shorty - you're playing again because you can actually win, or something? :P Loltastic result there, Cube. Very odd being in a relegation zone with you and oddy...
-
... man, that's totally gay. I guess I wasted a tenner. Meh to you and your responsibility with money.

I don't quite see that article as exactly saying "it will only be available via DLC in EU/OZ/US"... rather it says it'll be downloadable only in those territories. Doesn't rule out disc-based versions here.

(english studies, Fish) Congrats, Shorty! Fully deserved. Here's hoping I finally follow your footsteps and shake the great man's hand myself, next year :P Today = 9 hours on coach, arrive hour late to meadowhall, not Sheffield station, thus arrive 90 mins late to meal at bestrestaurantinsheffield, but enough lamb left, then two pints, then home to a disgustingly poor reception from my housemates, none of whom even tore their eyes away from the TV. I'm actually, literally dismayed with them all. No courtesy. Time to play mind games with them. House/UF/FNL as happy-builder/flaggelation, then work at 10am, with a maybe-trip to HGNLAW's for therapy. My mum said that I should go back on the dole. Madness. EDIT: Yeah HGNLAW = totally friendzone. I am Jack's lack of surprise. She's now telling me about some dude she gave her number to. I am Jack's lack of self-esteem. I am Lack.

Bolded are my initial relegation predictions, underlined are the promoted/winners. The middle league is ridiculously hard to call. I don't think cube will come 4th - I think him and ReZ will be battling for 2nd spot, but I think noodle and silverdale are strong contenders. I think Oddy has greatly superior tactical knowledge, and a frightenly good side for a 2nd-seasoner, but I'm playing it safe and decreeing the noobs to be the favourites to go down. The bottom league is trickiest to call because, simply, if dom and shorty set tactics game-in and game-out, they should have walk-overs each week. The same for ten10 really, so if he's idle then really jimbob and twozzok, with their experience, should step up. I'm going to win the middle league, of course. No game til tues and no game on the last match day either
