  1. Ah I see - it's in the Wharf zones. If you grew a full beard, these areas would be the ones that went grey first. I just want to say that it really isn't noticeable until you point it out (I looked at that picture before I made my post), and it just adds character! You should love yourself in every way. You're a great being, and it's a shame if a few pubes get in the way of you recognising that :P
  2. Goaf; I don't see the gingerness at all! What on earth are you on about.
  3. I WILL SACRIFICE MY GOOD FACE FOR THIS TASK! In xpert 11, your team is made up of players of various ages and skills. The age goes up by one each season invariably, but teh skill increase is dependant on other factors, like number of matches played and training endured. The team gets a recommended youth player each month that they can take on as a prospective future valued member of teh team. The youth are typically aged between 16 and 19, skilled between 2 and 5. The greater the skill at a younger age, predictably the greater the skill at an older age. The down-side with the youth is taht each game you play with them in the team, you are improving their development BUT being forced to play with only a skill of 2-5. An older, already trained player will offer a greater amount of skill, which ensures victory more often than not. Thus a 16 4 has great potential, it also carries with it a higher risk of overall team failures. A 32 12 would guarentee good team performance, but the longevity is a problematic factor. You can acquire new players via the transfer market, and their cost is weighted dependant on the above factors. I've not double-checked, but I imagine the price of a 16 4 and a 32 12 would be potentially fairly similar, with the younger going for slightly more. Am I boring you yet? :P Oh! Relation to conversation; if I had to choose between carol and NCL (new countdown ladie. I forget the old title I gave her) then I'd choose the new lady. She is hot now and will retain hotness for years to come, while carol is arguably more hot, but liable to face a much more rapid decline.
  4. Sorry R_A we can't change our genes. My ginger beard may not be to your taste, but luckily for me it is to someone else's!
  5. My apologies Danny! I should really know who's in the tourney and who isn't, shouldn't I? D'oh.
  6. This is the sort of game that I'll pick up in a shop and give my beard a good stroke, with eyebrows low and thoughtful; should I get this game? I've still got DMC4 to finish, so maybe I should do that and hope the price has dropped.
  7. Wear and tear*. RE: Xmas spendings; it should never be about equal spending -- while it can sometimes be annoying, what matters really is whether the gifts are well thought out. Someone once spent £20 on a pair of drumsticks for me. I was nonplussed. I bought him a £1 warped glass cola bottle and a £1 goat's skull. He still has the skull proudly displayed. I've just given my drumsticks away to charity. If I were you (and had the money) I'd buy them £100 worth of something completely shite, just to make a point. When they express their horror you can then say "well I was going to get [a reasonably priced gift that they'd appreciate] but you said you wanted something between £100-£130 and this was all I could find." OT: Worst thing to happen to me today was the endless moving of furniture.
  8. Danny; 8 moves over 3 days is silly. You'll be holding up the whole tournament. You're supposed to play 3 games (or, I suppose, first to two wins). I've not played any with grunch yet but I'm sure when we play we'll get at least two games done in one session.
  9. I'll start it this friday, close it on the 31st. I'll be hungover but indoors for new year's day to total
  10. I once tried to investigate the guest phenomenon, and most of the IPs seemed to be russian! How strange.
  11. So a direct quote from Ian McEwen then? :P
  12. Gaming moment of the year? Facepalm of the year? Personality of the year, user of the year, ultimate member of the year. The difference in those always confused me.
  13. I agree with Peeps on the money front. I've not checked how overdrawn I am currently, but I know it ain't marvellous. Only really sorted for my Dad, which leaves 5 people. And the 'couple' friends me and my girlfriend do stuff with. I have lots of stuff I want, now. - year's membership for Duke of York cinema (one of those trendy independant ones) - Pair of Jeans that aren't in some way broken/ripped/paint-covered/too small - Dunno Not so lots now, are we?
  14. I realised the other day that You've Been Framed! uses a laughter track (obv, I suppose). Totally ruined my secret-favourite-show as I spent the whole time being aware of it.
  15. I have a shit phone and I hate facebook chat and I don't have enough friends to ever be one of those annoying people. I only know one person who is on facebook while with a group of us and she constantly gets verbal abuse for it. It's reached in-joke level, I guess. It annoys me when people check their phone while we're talking. It interrupts my flow of thinking because I pause to go "oh so they don't want to listen" then I have a mini crisis and go "nobody ever really wants to listen, for all I know. Perhaps I'm always boring everyone, which is why I'm at home so much. I'm boring this person right now! I should stop talking. Stop talking and go home. Go home and go on my computer where I have the safety of a keyboard to filter my speech, where there's no bother if people don't respond." Sometimes I check my phone when I'm bored of other people, y'see, so they must do it too. Doesn't that annoy you? When people natter on and on, even though you're giving the polite, subtle body language that you are bored, while you scream on the inside "SHUT THE FUCK UPPPP" Aaand again I'm getting that thought.
  16. I thought in the first one he looked like jimbob would after a month's worth of marathons.
  17. Watched one on Mike Tyson recently, on More4 I think. I always knew he bit Evander Holyfield's ear(s) off but I was too young to watch it as it happened, and never really had a massive interest in boxing. It was Tyson presenting it, and he provided a really mature look at his own life - from being a petty thug on the streets to his relationship with his trainer, his nefarious burst into the top tier of boxing elite and his pompous, heartless downfall from it. It kinda made his actions against Holyfield forgiveable. But it didn't explain his stupid face tattoo!
  18. It's a white rihanna. It's strange how feminism is still "we can do it like a man! Except we're female, which means we're sexier, and we can't help but flout this, so I think I'll wiggle a bit." Thumbs down for the blandness of sound and emptiness of lyrics. Alright for the clubs.
  19. RARARARARA I hate chess. (lost to jonnas and mcj) (but not tournament so inurface!)
  20. I think my average game must be around the hour mark - but that's without a clock. Personally I'm at the stage where I'm scared to use a shorter clock because I'm certain it'll be more advantage to my opponent. However, it must be said that we need some sort of outer-level finite point, and two hours is plenty of time (for toilet/smoking/omg phone breaks :P) as to not make it a technical bout. Besides, 2 hours is fairly regular in club play, I thought? As an external limit to a 'friendly' game as to stop it getting ridiculous. The problem with having a time limit is some people see it as part of the game, and thus shape their match around it. I know most people here won't - but 10 mins for an entire game isn't fair. Sure, we don't want to play correspondance games, but essentially if both players are online at the same time and have the afternoon/evening free, that'll be fine. 2 hours is a good max limit, I think.
  21. In a regular chess game you'd have a clock for 2-3 hours, though. I don't think 10 mins for the entire game is fair at all. 2 hours per game is more acceptable. Again, that ought to be a matter confided with your opponent for now. As has been said if you don't want to play on facebook then registering at chess.com is the best idea, otherwise yahoo is fine. PM your opponent to figure out the best time to play, and the best location to play. So far only jonnas has a preference for teh brackets. Brackets would be fairly obv; winner of top two games play each other, and so on. There's no massive time limit, but 3-day limits are really a bit extreme. just try and find a good time to play and have a game. It's understandable if you want a break of a day before teh next game, but there's no point having a 9-day limit per round. We'll be here for... a month and a bit! P.S. People shouldn't be determined to play until checkmate; resigning is a natural and much favoured part of teh game! No need to go on 'til the bitter end unless you really think you have a chance. It's just a waste of time otherwise.
  22. Because us admins and mods are the ones going off topic :P I didn't rip the uni threads to where the other uni stuff was being debated. I don't know about everyone, but I tend to rip threadworthy stuff most of the time, or stuff that detracts from the topic. The topic here is "look at this stuff." There's not much discussion to be had from it so I guess it was inevitable we'd end up talking about fuck all, so there's not much to detract from, hence I'm waiting for something worthy to occur for a thread-rip! You should feel free to post whatever you like. If it leads to interesting discussion which we feel would be missed by members who feel that one look at a thread OP is enough to know all about the thread, then we'll move it for their sake. You really shouldn't worry. All the pressure's on us admods.
  23. Chess! I am going to watch MOTD tonight at 10:20, I'm up for a game before then if you're around but dunno if we can squeeze all three in. Tomorrow I'm busy morning/afternoon but free all evening. You still got the facebook app?

  24. Round has been drawn! Diageo - Murray jayseven - supergrunch Jonnas - mundi Haden - mike1988uk Charlie - cube Dwarf gourami - Raining_Again Flameboy - Mcphee Peeps - mcj metroid This was done by writing names on a piece of paper, folding tiny, shaking about then throwing the lot at my laptop screen. I'd take the two farthest from the screen and write them out, then gather the rest, shake and repeat. I can do this again for each round or we can stick with the order to determine the future round brackets. What think we? Go ahead and get in touch with your rival! Best of 3 games. Report back asap dwarf; use yahoo.co.uk instead. I just did the whole draw thing You claim to kick ass, so show us!
