Perhaps it's all the same map then... probably is and I've just neglected to notice.

Playing the Beta right now, first impressions are pretty decent... controls seem natural once you know what everything does, the four classes seem pretty simple to distinguish between - Assault, Engineer, Support, Recon - while the weapons are nice and substantial. Maps seem vast with a solid amount of detail though I only seem to have identified two different maps that I've played on so far - I don't know how many are in this beta - and there seems to be a decent level of customisation. Overall I'm enjoying it but I am new to the series - this'll be my first Battlefield title that I purchase - so I probably need to play the beta a good deal more to get a proper feel for it but it certainly seems decent at any rate.

So after completing most of the campaign on Insane 4-player co-op and then not having much luck with the last few bits, I decided to finish it solo... ... a good few hours later and I succeeded but now every time I close my eyes I keep seeing that blood-stained COG logo as if it's permanently burned into my soul. :p

Got my code today and am currently downloading I bought a sealed Tier 1 edition of Medal of Honor off eBay a few weeks ago almost purely for this... :p ... that and the campaign for Medal of Honour was pretty damn enjoyable imho, but yeah, anyway B3 beta here I come!

I can't believe I missed this! tbf the forums do seem to have been down a lots recently and I've barely been here these past few days but still... Anyway... Happy Birthday Paj! Cover me up I'm pale as night with a mind so dark and skin so white is this the devil having fun? I tip my cap to the raging sun

Another retailer like ShopTo perhaps? This is what I'm hoping for, I would have easily preordered the ltd ed if it had been available on there but alas it isn't as of yet so I shan't be bothering with it, just the standard game for me atm.
-
Geeeeeeeeeaaaaaaarrrrrs is heeeeeerrrrrrrrre! I must say, I felt a tad 'stupid' going for the ltd ed at the last minute but, now that its arrived I'd say that it's worth it... the suede box with an engraved metal cog-tag inset... plus photos and documents... wrapped up in a flag and... ... *shoves box on shelf, grabs Gears 3 disc and puts in Xbox*

So the solution would be to either make the next Starfox title downloadable - no chance - or for Nintendo to drop the price of all 3DS titles by £10... nope I can't see that happening either sadly. :p For what it's worth I do partially agree with you H-o-T but I still think Starfox 64 does offer value for money in its near endless potential for replays, firstly you have approximately 21(?) stages of which you can only play around 7 per run so you'd need to play the game at least 3 times over to unlock all planets... then there's getting the 'proper' ending with the real boss which can take longer, add to that getting the medals in both modes - though there seem to be only slight differences here - and it could take you a fair while. Yes just for the story it does seem a tad 'steep' but is that really why any of us buy Starfox? No... we buy it so that we can 'Do a barrel-roll!' once again for that is one of the most priceless moments in gaming. Having said that though I recently dropped 1200 MS points on the fantastic Radiant Silvergun - an XBLA game - which is a classic vertically-scrolling shooter by Treasure which I've already invested many hours in just trying to complete once... though considering an actual retail Saturn copy of it would set you back £100, for anyone with an Xbox it's an absolute steal and a must have if you're a fan of the genre. They are different games yes and it's maybe slightly unfair to compare Starfox 64 to Radiant Silvergun but there are decent offerings out there for significantly less, though having an N64 classic available to play in portable form is somewhat priceless and I would say the same if Treasure were to release any of their fantastic titles on the 3DS.

I'm expecting post any time between now and 1PM... hoping it arrives more towards to former than the latter.

'Pretty smooth reviewing Cube.'

So recently I've been listening to A Creature I Don't Know by Laura Marling and it's quite simply stunning, perhaps not nearly as accomplished as her previous album but it's no less brilliant, perhaps even easier to get into as well so for that it should be praised. I still wouldn't say it's for everyone but I'd highly recommend it because she's an artist I wouldn't have considered before actually buying I Speak Because I Can and from that moment I was completely converted She has such a beautiful vocal range which if I had to compare it would be a fusion of perhaps P.J Harvey plus just a pinch of Joanna Newsom mixed with a modest amount of Martha Wainwright. At the same time though it's perhaps slightly unfair to compare as she's uniquely talanted in her own right, rising from relative obscurity to a high-charting artist within only three years... Anyway, her latest album is very enjoyable indeed and as I sit here now listening to it for the third time some definite favourites have arisen. Though I don't really like picking favourites because in truth the whole album is very solid indeed fast becoming the most enjoyable album I've heard from her to date and I say this even after enjoying her previous works a great deal. TL;DR - Laura Marling, stunning, listen now or forever hold your tongue. :p

Fish... I feel for you I really do, I've been in your position once and I remember feeling exactly the same way, I realise that this will be of very little comfort to you but things will get better; say it enough times and it probably sounds like the most clichéd thing ever, it is true though. I speak from experience at a time when I had none six years ago... I was unemployed for over 2 years at least and had zero exp and felt like even my first 'level' was a mile off. Then I somehow managed to get employed for a season at my local theme park which gave me a few months work maybe but valuable exp, after it I felt like I'd gained half a level so the day that ended I handed in my CV to the first employee I saw at my local supermarket stating that 'I can work any hours' a week later... interview - Job get - five years + on from that day, I feel like I've reached maybe lvl 15. Not all stories are the same, I'm aware of that but I'm just trying to give you some hope... I know it's not easy, this advice may not even help but all I can leave you with is a popular game quote... 'Never give up! Trust your instincts!' A life-lesson from Peppy Hare himself, I hope it serves you well as you're a bright young individual who will surely go further in life than I have.

Radiant Silvergun is now available on XBLA for only 1200 msp which is fantastic considering that this is the first time the game has been released outside of Japan and to buy an original physical copy it would set you back around £100. This new version includes both Arcade & Saturn modes, HD graphics, two-player Co-op over Live + Local, Leaderboards plus a hidden Ikaruga playstyle. I'm downloading this right now and I would advise anyone who happens to be fanatical about scrolling shooters to do the same as this is highly regarded as being one of the very best.

Starfox 64 is a classic, always has been and always will be, nothing will change that.

What a needlessly negative review...

Decided to go for the middle-ground 'steelbook edition' same as the regular but comes in a steel case £42... I would have bought the limited edition but these seem to have gone up in price a lot as I remember the ltd ed's for Gears 1&2 being reasonably priced.
-
So... is anyone going to be buying the limited edition for this version or is it generally considered that £57.85 is pretty damn expensive? I'm tempted but it's a £20 difference between that and the standard edition...

Never! The only good thing about Super Mario Sunshine was the fact that you got to play certain levels without the F.L.U.D.D. Oh and the way in which you could make Mario repeatedly bellyflop around Isle Delfino like a seal. :p
-
^ It's like Super Mario Sunshine... except actually awesome.

Crysis 2 is more original than COD could ever hope to be so to call it a clone is just plain ridiculous, if it's a clone of anything then it's a clone of Crysis except with improved everything; the mechanics work well adding strategy to the single player campaign and the multiplayer which is actually pretty decent tbf... I found it a lot more enjoyable than COD. COD is still great of course but it's heavilly oversubscribed, overrated and overhyped.
-
So this is the original critically acclaimed Crysis, coming to consoles, with redone lighting etc incorporating the technical advancements utilised in Crysis 2? Count me in!

Happy Birthday Captain Falcon! forever he will be my hero

Well this finally arrived for me around lunch time and I've just finished it for the first time on the 3DS, I went for the left-most route, got the proper end-boss and finished with 889 hits with no continues. :awesome: Not bad for a first play-through I reckon.
-
Well the 'standard' post has arrived today - junk mail etc - but the 'second' batch which only arrives when there's a lot of parcels to be delivered in the village - which I reckon will be today - is yet to come so I'm still hopeful that I'll get this today. What are peoples thoughts who have played it already? How improved would you say the game is over the original say...

A deserving win indeed, fantastic album from an astoundingly good artist. This would be my personal order of preference... maybe... Debut > Homogenic > Post > Vespertine >Volta > Medúlla > Selmasongs > DR9 Make of it what you will but I'd defintiely recommend working through them all chronologically. Björk discography
