  1. The Cube's sound processor is great, but all it really does is output stereo sound (which can be optimised for PL2 but still), and pure on sound quality it can't match up to Dolby Digital. Now I wonder though, because the Flipper DSP will surely be in the Rev as well, whether it will support Dolby Digital... Yeah, Revo-Europe is slow as hell for days...

The Revolution is different. There's no real new or advanced technology involved for the console. It's small and cheap, making it easy to produce. Nintendo have severely increased in capacity with the DS. With the Cube, Nintendo has started to respect Europe more. I have no doubt the Revolution will launch this year everywhere.
  3. Dolby Digital would mean such a big step up. Dolby Pro Logic II only differs from stereo sound in that it plays supposed distant sounds mainly over the backspeakers - 3D sound is still achieved by using stereo sound methods. PL2 also has random noise from the rest of the speakers (the one the analog surround filtering doesn't filter out). Dolby Digital on the other hand allows full control over all the speakers, meaning developers can locate the sounds in space, with digital quality. I would be so dissappointed if they left it out After all, surround sets are much more common than HDTVs right?
  4. You mean with the virtual console? That'd work well with an attachable LCD screen. I think a controller suitable for N64 or Cube games couldn't be made portable though, not to mention the Rev controller doesn't make it very suitable for playing Rev games on the go. For SNES and NES games it'll own though
  5. That e-mail went straight into the trash can... Anyway, I consider Dolby Digital as definite for the Revolution. Even cheapass €20 DVD players nowadays have Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby DTS. Unless Nintendo makes the Revolution a 100% copy of the Cube, it will have Dolby Digital Surround. Perhaps BigTac knows more about this?
  6. Cheers to that one! It inspired me for my new sig :awesome:
  7. Why would they want to do a GameCube all over again? The only reason they stuck with mostly 1T-SRAM in the Cube is because the Gekko somehow couldn't address normal DRAM - if you want to put data in the 16 MBs of ARAM you first have to write to the 1T-SRAM now. I can't imagine IBM hasn't solved that problem. In the case of the super GPU they won't sell it for $150 - I know. If the specs stay this way though (the GPU being a double Flipper) they will.
  8. Oh it says a lot. Even if the GPU has 32 pipelines, shaders and blabla (meaning it would whoop the PS3 and 360 GPUs no problem) there's still only a tiny amount of memory and a CPU slowing it down. I don't think those specs are the final ones though. The CPU should be able to get near 1.5 GHz and possibly be dual core. I can't imagine that they won't expand it with a decent amount of GDDR3 memory either.
  9. Yeah right, the Revolution in Europe first. No way that'll happen - Europe probably is the least market for the Revolution. Japan will have absolute priority.
  10. The Revolution controller won't cost that much... It doesn't need much material (no high quality analogs and such) because it's small and simple. A big part of the movement determination is done by the sensor that comes with the Revolution, and the tilt sensor won't cost much (it doesn't in GBA cartridges anyway). The most expensive about it will probably be the Bluetooth and rechargable battery, but those technologies have been dropping in price for years now and won't make it expensive. I'd say €40, but probably less.
  11. Wow  That's even more tiny than I thought...
  12. Depending on power anywhere between $150 and $250... If the 'leaked' specs by IGN are true I think $150 is possible.
  13. Heh that logo looks like Wordart Those by DefectDS look pretty awesome though
  14. I'd rather have them put 6 more months of precious development time for hardware and network than the virtual console
  15. Maybe we're exaggerating and we'll only get to play revmote minigames. It still beats having it without Rev control. I think it would be smart marketing, having the remote control the sword.
  16. Dengeki is Japanese right? It's probably just a misunderstanding. Even if it had gone gold Nintendo would probably wait at least until September to launch it, just to give them time to hype enough during the E3.
  17. And you got that from a very famous and reliable Greek source?
  18. Considering 2006 worldwide is definite, and the 14 week indication is pretty solid as well, Japan should get it around week 38, which is halfway September. It's still a guess, but the most important thing is that it'll be launched within a year from now.
  19. I doubt Nintendo wants to have the games they're asking a fee for to be shared over the Internet so I think they will do their best to block transferring the games to PCs
  20. I will have Resident Evil 5 without smell thank you very much
  21. Now I really want the Rev controller to have a speaker. Imagine the sword slashes coming from the controller... All I need is a Rev, TP and a green hat and I'm done :awesome:
  22. I hope part of the secret is a speaker in the controller that actually makes the sound of the fishing rod/sword/rifle/jetski it's supposed to be. It would be so cool hearing the sword slashes in Twilight Princess from the controller instead of one of the speakers in your TV or on your wall. Beats Dolby Digital if you ask me
  23. I know, you said that somewhere further up the page. I just wondered, if you know what it's going to be called, what you think of the name (without mentioning it of course).
  24. Or Sega could make one and release onboard the Rev, or have it available for download.
  25. So is the final name good or not BigTac? I'm not asking names I'm asking opinion
