The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS
Fierce_LiNk replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
As in "it looks pretty, but thats it"? Or, as in "wowwww, thats a stunning piece of art. It's sooo much more than a game." Which is it, boyo? -
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS
Fierce_LiNk replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The character development is a lot more focused than it is in Ocarina. However, that doesn't mean that the characters in Ocarina are just left on the sidelines. I still think that it has the better story, more twists and turns. It's more story driven, whereas Majora is more character driven. The sidequests were mostly linked to the collection of masks, which was briefly touched on in the previous game. I bet the developers thought "ah, that was good, maybe we can take that further" so they did, in style. However, in terms of the main quest, Ocarina is still much further ahead. Both games have their own positives, and their own "wow" moments. So, I love both. -
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS

That's what I was implying. The actual main quest isn't as long as Ocarina's (because of the 3 day limit and the amount of dungeons) but they did improve it in different areas (such as sidequests). So, it's a different game. The ideal sequel. -
"No I Said Wonka! Not...." Its The Chocolate Thread!
Fierce_LiNk replied to ReZourceman's topic in General Chit Chat
I remember having one and feeling my senses melt from the inside. Then, I also remember the day that I realised that production had been stopped. Bring these back! Also, bring back chocolate Pretzel Flipz to the UK! -
Hahahah. I don't doubt that one bit. :p When you think about it, giving that much money to somebody in their late teens or early 20s is...well, almost suicide really. This news about Rooney will just add more fuel to the fire regarding footballers having too much money in place of morals. It's all we'll hear for the next year now, as the public burn effigies of Rooney and John Terry.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS

I don't understand why the Wind Waker is rated to highly either. It didn't grab me at all. I did attempt to replay it again about a year ago, but then just lost interest. Also, as much as I love Majora's Mask, it is very, very different to how Ocarina of Time works. It refines certain areas, but then the actual main quest and story arc isn't as long as Ocarina's. It's the perfect sequel, in that it doesn't try to emulate Ocarina. I love both. Don't make me choose one over the other! -
Retro consoles worth checking out?
Fierce_LiNk replied to Pookiablo's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I would definitely recommend a NES. However, I'm unsure about how much you'd be paying for games. I got a sweet deal a few years back with a mate. He sold his NES, two controllers and about 4 games to me for 20 quid. I was happy to pay that. A while back, I was interested in picking up a Saturn, but nothing ever came of it. For collecting purposes, you can't really go wrong. Although, I'm unsure about the price (again) and how the games have held up to the test of time. Being one of the first 3D consoles, I'm betting they'll look very rough around the edges. I really want one, though. Depending how retro you want to go, I reckon you should go for a Commodore64. Both the best and worst thing I have ever used in my life. I have a horrific memory of trying to play Hong Kong Phooey on that thing. Loaded the game up, did all the prompts to get it running, and it crashed 99 times out of 100 before the game screen came up. On the one time I did get it working, it crashed 30 seconds into the game. FUUUUUUUUU! -
He's a great example, but he's really from the older generation of players. Although he's still playing, he's a different breed to the likes of Rooney, Gerrard, etc. That's why Fletcher sprang to mind. He's a newer generation, yet his mentality and lifestyle would have been right at home in past generations.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS
Fierce_LiNk replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
In all honesty, Ocarina of Time can teach the majority of games out there a thing or two. It's not called the best game of all time for nothing. I feel sorry for every subsequent Zelda, or indeed any game since. Most are forever living in it's shadow. Lets face it, whether we like it or not, the consoles Zeldas will always be compared to Ocarina. There's no escaping it. It's not just the benchmark, it's also the unreachable target. For a game to be better than that, surely it would also have to be the best game of all time...not an easy task at all. Anyway, I loved Twilight Princess, will definitely be looking forward to Skyward Sword, and will also be keen to see how OoT 3D turns out. The more quality Zelda we get, the better. -
If somebody came onto the forum and wanted to post about buying a car, yeah, then they'd create their own thread for it. But, the majority of stuff people will buy doesn't warrant a seperate thread each time. For example, if I popped into town and bought a new shirt or a t-shirt, or a lovely looking coat, I would want to post that in a thread that already existed. What would be the point in posting a new thread for it? Also, those Image threads you posted: Lets take the celebrity one for example. It barely filled a whole page. What if in 6 months time somebody, like Paj for example, meets Tori Amos and gets a photo taken and wants to post it here. Now, they could either go through a search and find that thread, or they'd post it in the image gallery which would probably be on the first page anyway. Sure, he could make his own thread for that, but the point is that there would already be a "gallery" to post it in. What if he deems it not worthy of a new thread, but believes that it at least deserves a post on here? I believe that many other users feel this way. I don't really see the point in making a seperate thread for everything. Some things do deserve their own seperate thread, and I am glad that the front page of this board looks a bit busier. But, I think there's a danger of over-organising.

I woke up and checked the BBC site, where it said about allegations in the press. So, read up online about it, and I'm disappointed in the guy. Hopefully Sir Alex will have a few words to say to him. It's a shame, but then I guess this is an example of the modern day footballer/sportsperson. There's John Terry, Ashley Cole, several members of the Pakistan cricket team, to name a few. Flameboy, the first person that would spring to my mind (bar the obvious ones at United such as Paul Scholes, Van der Sar,etc) is probably Darren Fletcher. The guy is tee-total, keeps himself to himself, and you can always tell in interviews that he is very passionate and thoughtful about the game. You won't open a newspaper and see him plastered all over the pages, especially not the celebrity sections. Sure, not everyone is a fan of him on the pitch, but I think he's a good example of how you should behave off it. Generally though, the higher the footballer earns, the more negative press they seem to accumulate, especially about their private life.

Wave Race Blue Storm - Hidden Commentator
Fierce_LiNk replied to Cube's topic in General Gaming Discussion
That's brilliant. I'm going to have to try this out tomorrow. As for the game, it still looks beautiful. Should still be very fun to play, as well. I want to jump into that water. -
I agree with you on that, especially the stepping stone part. I think maybe you mean "coming-of-age." I love those types of films. I actually watched Stand By Me the other day, it never ever gets old. My perfect film.
-
Well done for including 2001: A Space Odyssey. That film is great for that "I think I get it, but I really get very little at all" feeling. Especially the last 5 minutes, with the "Star-gate" and beyond. The Virgin Suicides was quite strange, I definitely want to see that again. Another one was a film called "Storytelling", which was essentially split up into two segments. Fiction and Non-fiction. It's not the best film that you'll ever see, but it is a bit strange and quite interesting.

The other game is NiGHTS. I keep seeing that on the cheap everywhere I go, but I've not picked it up yet. You and I have a very similar list of games we need to finish. I feel so bad buying new games when I have ones that I already need to finish.

There's one thing I love about the series:

Hahahahahahah. Oh, you have no idea how hard I laughed when I read that. The best thing I've ever read on this forum. What does dis key unlaaaack?! (conan the destroyer) What makes me happy? Many things. Being with somebody special and just having one of those peaceful moments where you don't really have to do much, but you know you're in good company. Another one is when I'm watching football. I have so many great moments from last season, and I'm happy when I'm seeing memorable games, or moments from games that are special. The one from last season that springs to mind is Owen's goal against City in the very last second of the game, or Scholes' goal against City at their place, again right at the death. Late goals make me so horny. When I'm in the shower and I feel the hot water on my skin. I feel cleansed and for some reason I always find it really comforting. Another moment is when you go to bed and you're so tired. I'm happy because it usually means that I've had a productive day up until then. Being busy and getting stuff done makes me happy.

I was watching some episodes of this earlier online. The school trip episode, and work experience. The work experience one cracks me up, especially when:

"No I Said Wonka! Not...." Its The Chocolate Thread!
Fierce_LiNk replied to ReZourceman's topic in General Chit Chat
I will take my chocolate in just about any form that is given to me. Black, white, milk, I do not discriminate. Give eet to meee. I fucking want these to come back: When these are back, I will...do something drastic. Like streak naked across the various roads that lead to my house. I'll even eat a whole cow, whole. -
I don't. Purely because most people will just get lazy again and will solely post in that one thread. We've got the IRC channel, so we should make use of that. Hell, most people have each other added on MSN or twitter or facebook anyway. We already know how everyone's day has been.

I adore that one. This sort of stuff kills me. I'm going to stop now before Stephalopadodapus kills us dead.
-
It means that against some of the opposition who put out defensive teams/formations, that you have the option to play with both Modric and Van der Vaart in the middle. An attacking line of Lennon - Van der Vaart - Modric - Bale Crouch Defoe Fucking hell. You shouldn't struggle to score with a line like that. You wouldn't lose 1-0 to Wigan at home with that...maybe.
-
Hahahahahahhahaahahahahahhaahah. I'm going to use that one. Hahahaha. Ri-beee-ine.
-
Stephalump is actually brilliant. It also sounds like Stephlahump, which also sounds good. Stephapotamus. Stephasaurus Rex. Steph-to the left, Steph-to the right.
-
Of course. As long as you're serious when you tell them. If you say to them "ooooh, stop calling me that" whilst giggling, they'll just carry on. Yeah, tell them you hate eet. "I fucking HATE it when you call me that. Hate it hate it I hate it I hate it I hate you when you do it I hate my mother for giving birth to me and then bringing me up for you to call me it I hate your guts!"
