  1. The idea of the "inspired Berlin-wall" setting was interesting. Then, Killzone was mentioned and the rest was blah. :p Disappointed with that "plastic future" scenario, reminds me too much of films like iRobot. Big buildings, technology-based, lacking a soul. Not very inspiring.
  2. I'm shocked...people still watch the Brit Awards? :p I've given up on that a long time ago.
  3. The treble says hiiii. What I'll always remember about Arsenal's invincible season is that they lost to United in the semis of the FA Cup and Chelsea in the Champions League. Could have been an even better season for them, but it's amazing that the opposition they lost against in these two competitions just so happened to be their rivals in the league, especially in the Champions League.
  4. Leg daaaaay. First session after feeling ill for the last 3/4 weeks. Legs took a battering, I probably did a few too many warm-ups preparing for the squats, trying to get the depth right. What I've discovered is that I now suddenly prefer front squats over the traditional back ones, particularly for depth. I'm fine with back but I can go much lower with front and it actually feels a bit more comfortable to me. Only issue to me is with regards to actually holding the bar, that's going to take some massive getting used to. Calves took a battering, too. Goodbye, walking.
  5. It's a story of man against machine, how sad can it be? Right? RIGHT? The intro to episode one was stellar. I swear I saw God in those 4 or 5 minutes. Too good.
  6. It was actually a really good game too, from what I remember. The fights were hilarious. This was amaziiing. NBA Action 95. I spent so much time on this, including creating my own players and turning them into NBA legends. My team were the Indianna Pacers. :p
  7. Is it the NHL Live games? I think I had 97, which would be this one. There's a fight at 3:50 into that video. I think I either had 96 or 97, but from the looks of it both are almost identical.
  8. Fuck yeah, Italia 90. I loved that game, although the top down view made it hard. :p Super Hang On was also lovely.
  9. It doesn't have to try very hard to be the "best in the series" when the series isn't particularly great in the first place. I'll give NSMB one thing, that it's fun to play in multiplayer. 2 players is optimum, I can imagine anything above that just being carnage. I can see why Nintendo need this series, as it's a money spinner. But, once you've played one in the series, there's no real incentive to go and play another. At least when you've played Rayman Origins, the incentive to play Legends is that the game is taking all of the stuff from the first game, making it even better, improving it further and even changing the visual style. Whilst NSMBWiiU does look sharp in HD, it's not really a fantastic evolution over the past OldSuperMarioBros. 3 and World will always be the pinacle of the series unless Nintendo radically change something and go out of their way to create something fantastic. Even whilst watching the videos of NSMBU (it's tiring just typing that), you don't get the sense of it offering anything truly special, especially as the GamePad controls aren't inspiring.
  10. But this is where Nintendo need to start actively going out and doing more for the WiiU. The end justifies the means, so whether this means they start pumping loads of cash into the WiiU and making sure that places like Sainsburys stock it or not, something needs to be done. It's embarrassing going into a supermarket like ASDA and finding no trace of the WiiU. Nintendo don't make it easy enough for these places sometimes and there are occasions where they need to be more proactive.
  11. Maybe or maybe not. But, clearly his philosophy isn't working or it isn't transferring over to the players or he hasn't got the right players to play the way he wants. But, he recruits the players and he should have final say on who comes and who goes. With regards to what happens on the field, the buck stops with him. 2011-12 Final League Position 3rd - 19 points behind 2010-11 Final League Position 4th - 12 points behind 2009-10 Final League Position 3rd - 11 points behind 2008-09 Final League Position 4th - 18 points behind 2007-08 Final League Position 3rd - 4 points behind 2006-07 Final League Position 4th - 21 points behind 2005-06 Final League Position 4th - 24 points behind 2004-05 Final League Position 2nd - 12 points behind 2003-04 Final League Position 1st - 11 points ahead 2002-03 Final League Position 2nd - 5 points behind I've bolded the ones where they either were ahead or came within 10 points of catching the league leaders. Look at those last 4 seasons. This time a decade ago, Arsenal were either within touching distance of winning the league or they had actually won it. But, looking at how far behind they are finishing, I don't see how anyone cannot be alarmed by it. Yes, the likes of Chelsea and City have been pumping cash into their teams and as a result the league has become more competitive. But, Arsenal have not adapted to this issue whatsoever. If they finish outside of the top 4 this season, which is a very distinct possibility, then they are in big trouble. Even looking at those finishes, one or two things need to happen. Either fans realise that this really is as good as it gets for Arsenal (A 4th placed team, 3rd at the very best) or something at Arsenal needs to change. Just for the record, Wenger has brought in some very good attacking players this season, which is the right move. But, they are still so far behind as a cohesive unit and yesterday just shows how far out of their depth they are against the really good teams in Europe.
  12. I guess he's happy with Arsenal selling off/letting go of quality players and instead bringing in the likes of Andre Santos, Per Mertesacker, Gervinho and Park Chu Young. I can't really see how anyone can be happy with an 8-year drought, especially when before that drought the same club were playing in big finals and challenging for all competitions. The key word there is "challenging". If Arsenal were getting to the top 2 in the league and reaching big cup finals and narrowly missing out, it would be excusable. But, for a club of this stature to be nowhere near competing is shocking. 21 points off the league leaders. If you count 21 points the other way, they are in the relegation zone. They are just as close to relegation as they are to the league. 21 points...
  13. I can't really emphasise how important this is. Bournemouth has 1 GAME remaining, which isn't even in the centre of town. There's no Gamestation or Game in the centre anymore, HMV on the outskirts of town at Castlepoint Retail Park is closing (it's so dead in there...) and I think the one in the centre is going, too. What's even funnier is that GAME and HMV (the ones remaining) are still charging £49.99 for WiiU games...nothing will sell at that price. So, there's no representation on the high street. Only supermarkets. That's not really just going to affect Nintendo, but it'll affect everyone in the industry.
  14. Happy Birthday, dude.

  15. The sequel No Hotlinking Please 2: Judgement Day is even better. The film is meant to be The Terminator. Fuckthisshittttt.
  16. I managed to play a bit of this in HMV on the 360 yesterday. Really like it, so will definitely be buying this for WiiU when I get one. Question: How will this game differ to the other versions, considering that the WiiU pad doesn't have analogue shoulders?
  17. How good was this game?! I spent many an afternoon on it. That flamethrower... - And this. : peace:: peace:: peace:
  18. My purchases: - Season 2 THE TERMINATOR - lost my original, so re-bought it for a few quid. Also, got a pair of indoor/squash trainers and a pair of outdoor trainers. Came to £32 in the sales.
  19. Yes, he doesn't win trophies. But, "he's keeping the company" in a money-making state, as in they don't blow and squander money and are not in huge debt. For that reason, they'll keep him. If he leaves, it'll be because he wants to. I'm not sure he wants to leave. Besides, if he does go, I imagine a similar situation taking place to Liverpool's demise. It's not easy replacing a manager and just giving them a shit-tonne of money isn't going to guarantee anything. It has to be spent in the right way and on the right players. Paying 30 million for somebody like Danny Graham wouldn't get Arsenal fighting for the title, for example. But, 30 million on somebody like Falcao might. (he wouldn't go for 30)
  20. This deserves a thread of its own. So, I'm going to admit that when I was a kid growing up, I initially loved the MEGADRIVE (has to be spelled with caps, guizz) much more than the SNES. It took a while for me to appreciate nd love the SNES, which I do now, but the MEGADRIVE is the one console that captured my childhood. Unusually, what I remember from that era are some of the movie tie-ins. Alien3 was actually quite fun, so enjoyable that I bought both this and the SNES version. I looooved The Lion King and Aladdin games. I perhaps spent too much time playing the Judge Dredd game, which was more fun than the film. :p A surprising entry were the Caste and World of Illusion games with Mickey Mouse. World of Illusion was incredibly good fun. Then, there's the classic Sonic games, particularly 3 which needs to be played at least once by everyone. Come forth and love.
  21. 1. Get a time machine and travel back to the 90s. 2. Buy a Megadrive. 3. ??? 4. Profit.
  22. But still, there's no real progression outside of the Wii version or even the 3DS and DS versions that came before it. Yes, as a game it's fine, but I can't call it stellar because it isn't. The Wii versions was fine, but it's not as good as it could have been. Also, the music, just rehashing the soundtrack from past games is plain bad and lazy. If Nintendo try and pull that shit with Smash Bros...
  23. What a mess. Not just this game, but Gearbox in general. It sounds like dreadful management of resources and money from those in charge. As for Silicon Knights, Eternal Darkness is one of my favourite all time games. I can't believe how dreadful they became as a studio once jumping from Nintendo. One can't help but draw comparisons to RARE on that one.
  24. From a commercial stand point, they could have released the game in 2 small parts at full price and it would still sell millions. Nobody is arguing that. From an actual game-play point of view, the game is so far behind what it could be it is laughable. Getting out-played by Ubisoft in the graphics department is one thing, but getting outplayed in graphics, sound, gameplay, utilisation of the gamepad, the multiplayer modes and content, that's another thing entirely. Sure, sales are important for Nintendo, but good games are important for us.
  25. You're second paragraph is what I was thinking. Yes, if the WiiU/3DS got into trouble, they wouldn't bow out next generation. It would force them to re-evaluate things, of course, but they would still put something out in the future and try to make a profit from it. SEGA were once a giant in the hardware sector but they didn't make one or two small errors, they made a succession of catastrophic errors. So far, you could say that Nintendo have done a few things wrong, but it won't cost them massively in the long-run. Yes, the 3DS and WiiUs launches were a bit shit, but in the long-run the games will come, 3rd parties will still support the system and they'll turn a profit. Microsoft won't go anywhere because they've developed a good brand with the Xbox. Sony have been doing this stuff for years and are making good strides. The only criticism I would have would be with Microsoft because their system is a bit too similar to Sony's, and Sony actually do many things a lot better than Microsoft, such as PlaystationPlus, supporting Blu-Ray whilst Microsoft went for HD-DVD, having a growing list of first party games and franchises. Out of the 3, I'd say Microsoft are the weakest position, but even then it's not a terrible position.
