Xpert 11 Season 27: We few, we happy few, we band of brothers
Fierce_LiNk replied to Haden's topic in General Chit Chat
It's a good learning experience, and you'll do much better next season because of the development of your players. You should come straight back into the Middle League. Use next year wisely and develop your youths. Oh My Goddddddd. Congratulations, @Zell. I told you! I be leaf! -
It's here! That was quick. I'm going to get myself a drink and going to start this right now. My angus is suitably peppered.

Xpert 11 Season 27: We few, we happy few, we band of brothers
Fierce_LiNk replied to Haden's topic in General Chit Chat
Oh My Goooood! Not going to lie brahs, I genuinely cheered when Daan Wielink's free kick went in. 83rd minute. Hardly any chances in the game. Oh My God, that rush...shaking, brahhh. Unlucky Bob, that was too close. You were excellent all season and I think you had a few players who got a shit load of assists. Can't believe it went down to the last day. I was sure that we were relegated. What a come back. 3 wins in 3! Only downside of the season is that Daan Wielink only managed 8DV despite playing 16 games...3 of my midfielders have 16DV. We've created a lot this season but our defence has let us down. That needs to improve for next season. -
Timesplitters 2 disappointed me so much that I wanted to become Jewish. I remember trying so hard to like the game, I even played a game or two of it with @jayseven in Brighton (not sure if he remembers) and still didn't like it. The only aspect I enjoyed was the map maker, which was admittedly pretty fucking cool. But, inevitably, the disappointment came from trying out the maps and them never turning out to be as awesome as you expected. Every aspect of this game I feel was better with its predecessors. Perfect Dark and Goldeneye were and still are infinitely better games. Better controls, better characters, better weapons, better maps, better soundtrack, better everything. The weapons weren't "meaty" enough. There was no feedback. I could have been using a super soaker filled with orange juice and it would have done as much damage as 95% of the weapons in this game. I hate it. I've tried many times to go back and like it. I wanted to love it.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch
Fierce_LiNk replied to darkjak's topic in Nintendo Gaming
That would be really interesting, although I wonder at what cost that would be to the cinematics of the game. My biggest criticism of Skyward Sword was that it was far less cinematic than I was expecting it to be. In fact, it started off really, really well and then it seems like Nintendo just gave up on the cinematic and story-telling elements about halfway through and didn't bother until right at the very end. It was such a large gaping hole that needed filling. So, for me, the next Zelda needs to be better in this area. -
I'm with you on this one. I also fear that if this were longer, it would become repetitive. So, keeping it shorter avoids that.

Could Nintendo Survive Going 3rd Party?
Fierce_LiNk replied to Sheikah's topic in General Gaming Discussion
...People are already struggling with 3 home console creators. Why would suddenly having hundreds help? There would be no point in owning more than one console, because they would all essentially be the same. At the moment there is a point because each one tries to offer something different. You could argue that the 360 and PS3 are similiar-ish, but this is where the exclusives are important: they take advantage of the key features of that particular console. I think having such a wide choice would confuse the consumer further in this case. It would lead to dilution of the industry. -
I've just performed my Wii to Wii U system transfer. All of my data is in one place. My Wii and Wii U...are one. Why does it remind me of the ending of the fly where Brundle Fly wants to merge himself and his woman (and their unborn child) into one entity? Anyway, the transfer sequence is fantastic. I have to say brahs, there were almost tears. Of sadness. Such a long journey that I've had with my Wii. But, it's memory lives on. I still have games to finish. Xenoblade being one of many.

Neither is Wayne Rooney. Neither was Van Persie. Neither was Eto'o, or Ronaldo, or Fabregas, or Henry. Every player, bar a very small selection has a price. If PSG offered Thiago Silva for Fabregas, he would be off, I guarantee you that.

Those sounds are what gives the gym its atmosphere and makes it fun going back. It's almost music in itself. Industrial, like. The hip stuff will be fine. I put it down to having a hefty few days and my legs just weren't in the mood for it. I may skip the squats altogether this week and focus on lunges and other exercises. I'm playing squash tonight, so will see how I feel. Walking and stuff is fine, but just the movement of the squat didn't work for me today.

They've won a lot of fans in the last few seasons. Gundogan is fantastic and I'm surprised we haven't at least put in a bid for him. I'd be very happy to see him at United. A bit of midfield steel. He's not far off. He would be an incredible signing. It would certainly win Moyes a lot of fans. But, Barcelona would be fucking crazy to let him go now, especially after Thiago Alcantara has gone. He's Xavi's replacement (Fab) and unless they've got some absolute world beater in the youth system coming through, I can't see him going anywhere. There's only two small glimpses of hope that could help push this deal through: 1. The World Cup is coming up and getting first team football is a must if Fabregas wants to make it into the starting eleven for Spain. 2. Barcelona needs funds to push through a bid for Thiago Silva (although they've been told to piss off on that one). So, maybe if we offer something stupid and they get assurances that Thiago Silva can be bought for a certain price, the money for Cesc's move could help there. Even the possibility of us moving Vidic on plus 30 million...maybe. Either way, even with these scenarios, there is about a 10% chance of this happening/the deal going through. I can't see the sense in us putting in a second bid if we've been told he's not for sale. So, either we're trying to look the dog's bollocks by putting in big bids, or we're wasting our time, or the board know something that we don't (that Cesc is available - which I don't think he is).

Hmm, I can do either. I usually put some music on when working out, but it's not essential. I actually prefer the sounds of weights clanging on the ground, or metal on metal or something. I find that quite satisfying. Racking the bar after squatting, taking the bar off for a bench press, the sound of the barbell and weights hitting the ground after a deadlift. I've been driving a lot over the last few days. About 10 hours or so in total. Tried doing some squats earlier and felt a tightness in my upper leg area. After reading up on it, looks like it's the hip flexor/iliopsoas. I've ordered a foam roller as I've been planning to get one, so will see if that helps at all. I stretched quite a bit beforehand/warmed up, too. So yes, disappointed. I'm thinking it's a combination of the muscles being weak/tight and driving for so long in a short period of time.

Maybe it would have made more sense to have two films? One where Superman can carry on his own story and another where he has a feud with Batman. Could have possibly opened it up then for other characters. @Happenstance mentioned this above, I believe.
-
Hmm, you make a good point. We'll see how it turns out. I'll still go and see it anyway, because I'm confident it would be good. But, it's not quite the movie I wanted.

Blocking Porn - Censorship or Child Protection?
Fierce_LiNk replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Chit Chat
There's also the point that by banning this sort of stuff and making it "taboo" you make it more enticing to certain individuals. Telling a teenager that they can't look at porn is pointless, and you'll just give them further incentive to do it. -
Come on, braaah. Where are you getting all of that from? I loved Man of Steel and I love the fact that right now is Superman's time. Like I mentioned, we had three glorious Batman films and I'd love to see Superman now take some of the spotlight for himself. There was plenty of character in Man of Steel and by far the most memorable parts for me were the flash-backs to his younger days, but I also enjoyed the action parts. (snapping Zod's neck shocked the fuck out of me). Again, like I said, I just don't feel that right now is the time for Batman. I believe he's had his run and it's a bit too soon to be talking about rebooting that character all over again. I've seen things, I'm a big fan of both the Batman and Superman Animated Series (I predominantly grew up with Batman, but I've seen parts of the Superman series (not as much) and am watching it in order atm) and I believe a cross-over would be fantastic. However, all I am saying is that I don't believe that right now is the time for it. Man of Steel introduced us to that character and I'd love to see a sequel to it that reinforced it. Superman's/Clark's plight. I just don't feel we need Batman right now. Be honest now, how would you feel if The Dark Knight hadn't turned out the way it did and Superman turns up at some point and saves Batman from the Joker, for example. Surely you can see that when a new character is introduced, that time is taken away from another. Case in point: Spiderman 3 with it's millions of enemies and 10 minutes of screen-time for Venom...(albeit an extreme example)
-
Yup, that's another factor/obstacle. It won't get that far, though. He'll stay in Barcelona and this will be talked about as another transfer "memory". Like that time City were in for Samuel Eto'o or when Torres went to Chelsea for "that" price. Saying that, the Arsenal he left isn't entirely the same as the Arsenal that would be there when he gets back. There's a saying that you should never go back to your ex-girlfriend. Maybe he'd want to do something different and he's got a bigger chance of winning things (based on recent seasons) either staying at Barcelona or going to United than he would at Arsenal. Anyway, personally, I'd have gone for somebody like Strootman or put in a bid for a player like Cabaye or even Gundogan. Much more achievable and realistic targets which would cost less and would make a valuable addition to the side.
-
Hmm, another bid for Fabregas. I can't help but feel we're wasting our time with this one. Either the board at United know something we don't and we believe we can get this deal, or this is just a ploy to get the fans behind us, so that we can say, "oh, we're trying to get these world class stars." Even though realistically they won't come, for whatever reason. I'm sure the bids are high, but in this instance I don't think money is all that there is to it. He seems to be fine in Barcelona and he wants to make it there. Coming back to England would be admitting defeat that he never made it in Spain. Can't see Fabregas coming. We could offer £60million and obscene wages and he still won't come. Although, saying that, maybe Barcelona's new manager won't want him and will let him leave...

You rarely find somebody who is equally keen on both. Usually, people tend to lean towards one more than the other. As great as the DS and the 3DS have been for me, I just prefer home console systems. It's what I will always drift towards. I love being able to look at a big tv screen and interacting with that. For me, gaming takes place in the living room or the bedroom, with a controller in my hands. I might be doing something else in the meantime, like listening to music, but that's how it usually works for me. Even when I used to take train or car journeys, I never really felt comfortable gaming outdoors. Even if I'm sitting outside or on the field, there's just something about handheld gaming that doesn't click with me.

Every household in the UK is to have pornography blocked by their internet provider unless they choose to receive it, David Cameron is to announce. In addition, Mr Cameron will say possessing online pornography depicting rape will be illegal, bringing England and Wales in line with Scotland. In a speech, the prime minister will warn that access to online pornography is "corroding childhood". The new measures will apply to both existing and new customers. Family-friendly filters will be automatically selected for all new customers - though they can choose to switch them off. And millions of existing computer users will be contacted by their internet providers and told they must decide whether to activate filters to restrict adult material. Customers who do not click on either option - accepting or declining - will have filters activated by default, Tory MP Claire Perry, Mr Cameron's adviser on the sexualisation and commercialisation of childhood, told the BBC. Other measures expected to be announced by the prime minister include: - New laws so videos streamed online in the UK will be subject to the same restrictions as those sold in shops - Search engines will be given until October to introduce further measures to block illegal content. They have a "moral duty" to block illegal content, Mr Cameron will say - He will also call for warning pages to pop up with helpline numbers when people try to search for illegal content - Experts from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre will be given more powers to examine secretive file-sharing networks - A secure database of banned child porn images gathered by police across the country will be used to trace illegal content and the paedophiles viewing it. Mr Cameron will say: "I want to talk about the internet, the impact it is having on the innocence of our children, how online pornography is corroding childhood. "And how, in the darkest corners of the internet, there are things going on that are a direct danger to our children, and that must be stamped out. "I'm not making this speech because I want to moralise or scaremonger, but because I feel profoundly as a politician, and as a father, that the time for action has come. This is, quite simply, about how we protect our children and their innocence." Source: BBC I've highlight important parts because there is quite a bit to read there.

Sorry dude, that post credits bit sounds dreadful to me. I'm not a big fan of post credit scenes anyway, I find them cheap. Anyway, I'll wait and see what the plans are for this. I also don't think it would have just been "another" Superman film. We never regarded The Dark Knight as "just another Batman film" so I don't really see why this would be the case here.

Could Nintendo Survive Going 3rd Party?
Fierce_LiNk replied to Sheikah's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Yeah, definitely agree with you on that first point. I remember the first few months of the PSP for me being, "what's the point?" Surely if you're going to just use it at home, you can just use the home console anyway? Previously, handheld gaming felt a bit like a gimped home console experience. That's why I think the games and experiences need to be different and it's vital that the handhelds do things that you can't experience on the home console. Otherwise, I don't see the point. For instance, this weekend in Manchester, Ine got quite a lot of streetpass hits. It's an incentive to take it out. Plus, long car journeys, perfect for a handheld. The handhelds undoubtedly have the advantage there. I'm loving what I'm seeing of Smash Bros for the 3DS, with its own unique art style. It's not going to be a scaled-down home console game on a handheld. It's going to be Smash Bros. in its own right. -
