Well no, the referee would still be the referee in exactly the way it works in other sports that use it. His authority is not undermined at all. You're obviously never going to please everyone but the technology is there to make things so much better and the same old tradition excuses are getting boring.

Football needs to get away from this horribly bloated view of it's own ego that it thinks it's too good to have video technology used. I'm fucking sick of hearing the same stupid arguments about how it will destroy the game, It won't. Countless other sports have done it, many that have a much faster pace to them than football. It's used in Ice Hockey and does nothing but enhance the game. Everyone ones worried about time being wasted, at least it will be well spent. At the moment how much time is wasted on players arguing with referees and rolling on the floor after being tickled, all thing that don't happen in other sports. I could reel off 5 sports that use it and no one complains about the use of it. People always spout the same rubbish about it ruining the game, how will making sure the right results happen do that? It might put Hansen and Lawrenson out of a job but that's only another added benefit. Get rid of these stupid assistant assistants, they're a joke.

It all depends on the story really, you could have a tv show that last 10 season and not give a shit when something happens because it's just not hooked you. Yet using another example, one of my favourite films is Turner and Hooch, and when a certain someone dies after an 80 minutes; it still gets me everytime.- 3920 replies

I'd say no, I was about 13 when my split and oddly it didn't upset me as much as I thought it might. I use to worry all the time when they argued that it might lead them to split. After it happened I wasn't really that bothered, I suppose it helped a lot that they got on better with each other after they split.

Exactly. When you've spent hours investing in a character for example, we'll use Dr Mark Greene from ER who dies at the end of season 8 (everyone in the world actually knows this, so it's not a spoiler.) which very roughly is 180 hours odd of time watching him. It's bound to affect you more than seeing a character die an hour into a film. Obviously it varies, but that's the way I see it.- 3920 replies

Anyone remember Train? pretty much only known over here for Drops of Jupiter almost 10 years ago now. Kinda rediscovered them over the last few days and am in the process of giving all their albums a listen. Started with the new one, Save me, San Francisco and I really like it. Nothing amazing, just really easy to listen too. Two favourites so far. Soul Sister. Audio Save Me, San Francisco. Audio

I'm more injury prone than sickness but i've suffered the last few months with various ailments. Getting my wisdom teeth out took a good couple of months to recover fully from (I only had 3 days off for that and 1 was for the actual operation) and now I've got swollen tonsils. I'm very rarely off, my absence rate at work is currently 0.3 %.

I reckon we need Partridge. "That was a goal". "Shit!" "Twat!" "He's got a foot like a traction engine". "That was liquid football".

True, it was basically a different show though, with a totally new cast. You've gotta blame Jennifer Garner for the shortened season as she decided to go do Womanly stuff.- 3920 replies

The iPhone OS4 has me interest in one again (I owned a 3G for about 14 months) but I'm kinda wondering what's the point. I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 at the moment, which I love, and still have 18 months on my contract left to run. So i'd have to pay a shitload for an early upgrade and I don't see what it does that much better. Yes it has apps but the only ones I use are Facebook and Twitter and RIM have made excellent official apps for them for Blackberry. I'll still keep an eye on it though

I picked up a white 13" Macbook last week, so I'm glad to see that hasn't been updated I've not really seen anything on the new Macbook Pro 13" but the old version was a complete waste of money in my view, not only is my one faster than that was but you're essentially paying £200 odd for Firewire and an SD slot.

I'm quite partial to a bit of Kelly, but I say the best to come out of Idol was Chris Daughtry. Someone who genuinely had talent and didn't need the winning contract to show it.

During an interview after their reunion announcement, Travis confirmed that they had been in the studio since December 2008 writing and recording new material. Each member had brought in their own musical ideas and songs, while also writing new material together. Blink 182 also revisited older demos they had written in 2004, before they went on indefinite hiatus.[20] A new single, titled "Up All Night," has been announced for the new album. On January 25, Tom DeLonge stated that blink-182 was in discussion to release a new album in 2011.[21][22] On January 26, however, Hoppus stated via Twitter that 2011 is "too far away" and will do everything he can do to release the new album in 2010. [23] The summer tour was at first mentioned during the reformation, though no concrete information was given until April 7, 2009 when website buzznet.com stated that Weezer would be supporting Blink-182 on their upcoming tour. The May 28, 2009 issue of Rolling Stone magazine later added Fall Out Boy, in addition to Weezer, as an opener for the tour.[24] Official tour dates were announced on May 15, 2009 on Billboard.com; the well-received tour lasted from July 23 in Las Vegas, Nevada and ended on October 3 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Several additional dates were added to make up for the shows cancelled due to DJ-AM's passing. [25] In December 2009, Hoppus announced that the trio will embark on a European tour in Summer 2010 including headlining the Reading and Leeds Festivals.[26][27]" target="new">At the 51st Grammy Awards ceremony on February 8, 2009, all three members of the band appeared onstage for the first time since December 2004.[5] Barker announced the band's reformation, stating that "we used to play music together, and we decided we're going to play music together again," with Hoppus adding, "Blink-182 is back!" A message appeared on the band's website the same day stating "To put it simply, We're back. We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album."[5] The band also updated their "smiley face" logo to feature six arrows instead of the previous five.[19] During an interview after their reunion announcement, Travis confirmed that they had been in the studio since December 2008 writing and recording new material. Reminds me of a Championship team kit, perhaps Derby. As in the division, not the EPL title (obviouly).
