I was pleasantly surprised by A Plague Tale when I gave it a go on Game Pass. I got burned out on it pretty quick, as the gameplay felt a bit repetitive and not particularly enjoyable, but the setting and story were great. It'll be good to have it back in my library after not renewing Game Pass. It's a shame I'll have to start it again, but good to have access to it should I want to revisit it.

So much so that they cancelled the sequels and it almost killed the entire franchise. I thought Andromeda was ok, even fun in places, but saying it's better than FF7R is just bizzarre to me.

The Exercise & Fitness Thread: The Struggle Is Real
Goafer replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Chit Chat
After finding the bike ride to the windmill fairly easy, I thought I'd try for double the distance and see if I could make it to Warwick. The journey there was fine and the return journey was easier than I expected, but still fairly tiring. Overall it worked out at 30 miles with some pretty decent hills along the way. -

Not sure it counts as excercise, but I got to do some archery for the first time in about 8 years. My bow has been in a bag since I last shot and it was quite relieved to see it hadn't fallen to pieces in that time. I'm not as good as I used to be, but I'm not as bad as I thought I'd be. -
Probably done me a favour, as realistically I'd never wear it. The Zelda watch, however, I'd actually wear. And there's some available on eBay... (I absolutely adore how Link looks on the artwork.)
-
Guess the seller didn't get what he wanted for it, as he's cancelled the order and gave me a refund. If only there was some way to set a reserve price... Prick.

I had it, but saw the Super Mario Race Watch and decided I needed it, so returned the Mario 3 one and got that one instead. Now I much prefer the Mario 3 one. I don't remember ever getting rid of the Race one though, so I'm hoping it turns up one day, as that's another fairly expensive one.

Been wearing watches more often and it reminded me of one I had as a kid. A quick search of eBay and I managed to snag this for a fairly decent price: Got it for just shy of £45, which considering the next cheapest one is £55 and most seem to be around £75, I'd say was a pretty good price. It's hideous and I love it. (The one I bid on also works, unlike the one pictured)

Tried a new route, with the end goal being this windmill. Wasn't sure if I'd make it, as it was pushing it a bit for an evening ride, but had plenty of time to spare. 16 miles total, so not a bad evening route. And I did make it up to the actual windmill, but some weird family kept staring at me, so I didn't take a photo. Like, they literally didn't take their eyes off me the whole time I was there. Even when I sat the other side of the windmill, I could still see them out the corner of my eye, peering through the windmill at me. Fucking weirdos. -
I didn't mind the progression, or lack of, in 4. Normally that would bother me, but I enjoyed the slower cars just as much as the fast ones, so I enjoyed going back to them. The seasonal stuff, which encouraged you to race with certain cars or classes, were brilliant, as it forced me to try all the cars on offer. For me, Forza 4 was a car collecting game, with racing thrown in. There were loads of mini storylines to give you something to acheive, but the main game was just racing, collecting cars and having fun. I think it helps that I love cars. Not just supercars, but all cars. Give me a 40bhp Ford Anglia and I'll have as much fun as I would with a Lamborghini.

Why? They have cities in Mexico don't they? True, but they didn't show any. It seemed more like rural areas. It's hard to imagine low slung supercars barreling round shanty towns and farmland. Hopefully there will be a decent city or two. I like the open areas, but a decent urban area would be nice for variety.

And just like that, I now have a reason to buy a Series X. Not sure how I feel about the Mexico location. I think it'll be very good for the off-road sections, but less so for the urban racing.

E3 2021: Digital Edition, TGA's 2021 & other 2021 events
Goafer replied to Julius's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I wonder if different divisions/regions pronounce it differently? Or maybe their graphics guy pronounced it "You" and no one checked. Kind of want to know the definitive pronunciation now, as clearly there's different opinions within their teams if someone put just an a. -

It depends how you pronounce it. If you say "You-be-soft", it doesn't need one, as the start sound is a consenant. "Oo-be-soft" would need one though. A/an goes off the sound, not the spelling. -
That's exactly what happened with me and Panzer Dragoon Saga. It's infamously expensive to buy, but I eventually just bit the bullet and bought it a few years ago. Glad I did, as it's ludicrously priced nowadays, so doubt I'd have even played it if I didn't get it when I did. It was worth the wait, as it's a great game, plus it only seems to be going up in "value", so a decent investment too.

Gaming Podcasts: A Thread about Listening to Others
Goafer replied to Goron_3's topic in General Gaming Discussion
So the British Podcast Awards have a Listeners Choice Award, and although we have precisely zero chance of winning, we could potentially get good exposure. If people could go to the link below and vote for Dice and Desire, I would be eternally grateful. https://www.britishpodcastawards.com/vote (Also, feel free to listen/subscribe to us too, if you want to!) -
What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!

Been playing some Pistol Whip on the Oculus and this track is bloody addictive. -
Yup. Sony have always supported previous gen long into the next gen, which I think is brilliant. Anyone that's surprised by this clearly hasn't been paying attention (or more likely just looking for any excuse to have a dig at Sony, yet again). Seriously, who cares if it comes to PS4 too? It means more people can play it and the PS5 version will still be the superior version.

Bought Beat Saber and good god, is it ever the perfect VR experience. Actual sword fighting is VR is great in theory, but you'll never get the feel of clashing swords with someone else. Beat Saber's solution of swiping at targets that would be sliced through with little to no resitance is genius. I've watched other people playing it before and I always found it a bit cringe to see how much they were getting into it, but I totally get that now. I find myself adding little flourishes once in a while and just moving in time with the beat when I don't need to. Anyone doubting how excellent VR can be needs to try Beat Saber on a Quest right now.

I loved Persona 4 and 5 for different reasons: P4: Better plot and characters. I felt like I was leaving friends at the end of the game. P5: Better style and gameplay/dungeon design. Both fantastic games as far as I'm concerned.

COVID-19 (The artist formally known as Coronavirus)

Plus I imagine it's pretty hard to drink with a mask on. I could be wrong though, I'm not obsessed with pubs/drinking like the rest of Britain seems to be. -
Ooh, Star Wars is one that I've thought about buying for a while. Good news if it's true.

Finally upgraded to a decent VR headset after loving my PSVR, but hating the wires: And desired to support The Modern Rogue YouTube channel, as I love their designs.
-
Oh, it was absolutely prime for the bottom half, but getting zero points when there were some absolute shitters that at least got some points was what bothered me most.

I finally got round to getting a Quest 2, after loving my PSVR, but finding the wires a massive pain in the arse. What a bloody revelation. Playing without wires is exactly what I want from VR. The fact that the screen is so good is just the icing on the cake. Gone is the screen door effect that let down the PSVR for me. The only things I'd want to see improved is the battery life and a bit more resolution. Both are fine, it would just be nice to have a bit more clarity on some things and to not have to charge it after almost every use. Thoroughly impressed by the Quest 2 overall though. It's exactly what I want from a VR headset.
